    Excellent Video!
My understanding you can either use DataPump/S3 or DMS to migrate data from om-premise to AWS. Why did you use datapump in this case? DMS can move migrate the data from source to target.
Also, your video diagram shows on-premise location while your lesson has oracle source on EC2.
Can you show how to create endpoint based on on-premise database?

The on-premise concept here is whether the Oracle instance is self-managed not the actual location. Hope that makes sense. About s3 integration in this case, not sure.

Great Video! Does AWS charge for using DMS when you setup the Replication instance or it is free service?

You may find what you're looking for here in the AWS Database Migration Service FAQs: go.aws/3p6Z02P. ⬅️ I also recommend looking into the AWS DMS pricing page here: go.aws/42H8Q97. 📄 Additionally, I suggest checking out the resource provide with this video. You can find it in the video description, and also here: go.aws/442yEh6. 🔗 ^TE

is this also possible between 2 AWS managed oracle RDS instances?

yes, DMS works for homogeneous and heterogeneous databases

Does DMS support migrating all Oracle datatypes such as BLOB? These are usually stored in files and table data have pointers for them.

Can I use DMS (without datapump) only to migrate several oracle schemas from one RDS database under Account 1 to another RDS account under Account 2? Would it be able to create tables DDL, triggers, constraints, code, etc.
I want to do everything on the cloud without the need to connect using SQL tool and run export/import due to firewall rules.

If using dms then why datapump used

    • @kathleenli5471

Data pump for initial full load and using DMS CDC to capture all those changes made during the full load and put source and target in sync before cut-over, in this way, your source db can be up until final cut-over. The downtime is minimized to cut-over window.

@@kathleenli5471 .. As per my knowledge dms also do intial data loading and then CDC to for data sync

@@jagannathsahoo713 Yes, DMS can handle the full load also. As the best practice, for homogeneous migration, if you can leverage native database migration solution for full /initial load, you should consider to use the native migration solution first for less restrictions and most compatibilities.
