My late Dad Roger YORKIE Council signed up May 1949 aged 15 and 3/4. I have a photograph of Sippers in a cat sized hammock, Dad referred to Sippers as "the ships cat". Can anyone help with information about this, please? Dad and Bunny Williams from Tiger Bay, Cardiff went on HMS DARING and have a photograph taken in Londonderry of them both. I believe they were both Ganges boy seamen.

@@terenchion1 I was in Tiger mess in the annexe before going to Exmouth 43 mess. Spent most of my time on the river sailing the cutters, whalers, dinghy's. Took the motor whaler out on exercises to ships over the river with messages for the skippers, great times, used to play my guitar in the mess at recreation times too! Went to Pembroke after Ganges to finish my training, ended up as an Officers cook in the galley there!

@@terenchion1 I was in Tiger Mess in the annexe, I was a jr cook, later an officers cook, I sailed a lot, was a coxwain and was in the field gun crew on open day when our parents came. P.O. Les Booker was our sailing instructor, I took a cutter and crew down to Pin Mill on a Banyan party, great fun getting stuck on the beach and having to use the oars to roll us back into the water, with a little help from the locals!

The picture used to promote this video is something you would never see ever at this place, you wore your uniform properly or else, not you hat on the back of your head as shown, and never with the rim bent down on the sides, if an instructor saw a hat like that he would put it over the bed end putting a hole in it and you paid for a new one.
