Hamilton de Holanda Bandolim : Italian Mandolin 8 strings and Brazilian Bandolim 10 strings differences.
Hamilton de Holanda is a Brazilian bandolinist known for his mixture of choro and contemporary jazz, and for his instrumental virtuosity.
Born in Rio de Janeiro he moved to Brasilia with his family as a boy.
He started playing the bandolin at 5 and appeared at his first performance at six. With his brother Fernando César he formed the group Dois de Ouro and throughout his career he has collaborated with many other significant artists such as Yamandu Costa, Mike Marshall, Joel Nascimento, Egberto Gismonti, Hermeto Pascoal, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and many others.
He has received several Latin Grammys.
He has taught at the Raphael Rabello Choro academy.
He plays a custom made 10 string Bandolim.
Hamilton de Holanda is widely considered as the best Brazilian mandolin player and as one of the greatest virtuosos of bandolim of all times.

No estoy de acuerdo... Todo instrumento cordofono tiene la capacidad de hacer melodía y armonía simultáneo... Siempre que el intérprete se dedique a ello... Inclusive en el mundo de la mandolina clásica los tratados de Rafael Calace estan realizados con una superioridad mucho mayor inclusive que la música Brasilera por ejemplo... Así que no creo que ése sea el concepto para categorizar como diferencias entre estos dos instrumentos... Aquí la diferencia latente y principal son las 10 cuerdas... Que ofrecen un rango dinámico y un registro más amplio... 🧐

He didn't say only the 10 strings mandolin has this polyphonic capability. But it will have more options with the extra pair of strings than 8 strings.. Just like a 4 and a 6 strings bass. You can solo with both of them, but of course a 6 strings bass will give you more options. You choose what you like more and that is totally fine. And no need to diminish other countries' music. 🤗
