I once impressed a girl by playing this song on Standard... Good times, my dudes and dudettes...... Long live DDR is our hearts and memories.
Man, I wish I could play DDR again, I weighed as low as about 150 pounds when I was 21 compared to now over 250 at 37. But, my knee can't take this anymore. This was the most versatile Maxx with best transitions IMO
I made the mistake of trying to think I could play fine like I could from years ago. I went out to dinner with some friends at a barcade. Buzzed me got arrogant and thought I could still step like I could 15 years ago... HA WAS I MISTAKEN! Did my warm-up (Abyss - Heavy) and was already noping. Felt cocky and tried to do Rhythm and Police on heavy and my joints were just NOT HAVING A GOOD TIME in crossover city.
Memories of unlocking this as bonus stage when I was 13...everyone gathered around
and then remembering how stupidly hard and fast it was even on light mode
Yeah, as a teen I got to the point where I had most of it memorized. Now, I have the whole thing down in my head.
If you play this song at 11:58:55 PM on New Years Eve, you will not regret it.
Giga chad status should only be awarded if you can beat this song on heavy. If you can do it, then true respect is earned.
On the current DDR difficulty chart this stands at a 15 (out of 19) ; isn't that hard compared to TohokuEVOLVED, Over The Period & Paranoia REVOLUTION
Hell even Megalovania (yes that's on DDR now) Challenge is an 18: th-cam.com/video/WbhPIfs2YAs/w-d-xo.html
0:57 most beautiful part of any DDR track
The first boss song I've ever faced. I saw a red song in the roulette and I was like "I wanna play that." I played that song the most out of the song lineup and my PS2 controller was never the same again. Maxx Unlimited introduced me to DDR. (Or Dancing Stage here in Europe.) Maxx Unlimited introduced me to techno and techno introduced me to Namco soundtracks. Strange, isn't it?
I remember being [allegedly but almost 100% sure] the first guy in the country to ever get the AA on this on the extra stage in a 7th mix back in the day. Everybody used to gather everytime i attempted it, but to no avail. Then i achieved it being alone, in the era where mobile phones didn't exist. So, the very first time playing kakumei as one more extra stage, alone, in a shabby arcade store, and I didn't care much for the result, i was simply delighted just to have achieved it. Then I got back home all sweaty, without being able to go online and tell people what I had done (back then we had shared dial up internet and that day it wasn't my turn to go online). Then as I'm about to sleep i turned the channel over on the TV for the last time: It's a classical concert. A guy walks upstage as people clap, sits on the piano, and starts playing Chopin's revolutionary etude. I almost cried myself (out of happiness) to sleep. Hands down the best day of my teenager life.
Oh yeah, I remember that. I knew a guy that got the one more extra stage Kakumei. Your story more or less checks out.
Good times.
@@scavrefamndragonclaw9785 "more or less checks out" well i said it, i dunno if i was the first, but back then there were no social media nor any way of fact checking. But i did do it :P this was 2004, mind you :D
Came here from 櫻 hoping I’d like this song as the artist said the rhythms were similar and I’m not disappointed, such a great song
The Moment you start to tap your finger to the beat of the song subconsciously
-tap tap tap-
Ooh this song tires me out already, and I haven't touched DDR in a long time.
I remember many years ago when I was trying to AAA this song had loads of people watching. Damn the nostalgic is strong with this one. Don't think I'll ever do it again haha haven't touched the game since 2008
To all the boys and girls that passed this on Heavy I applaud you! one of the hardest things i’ve ever done in my life aha
An absolute classic and one of my favourite songs from DDRMAX2!! =) So many great memories! I give this song a marvelous full combo!!
First Max song that I played.
To me, between the max original series THIS WAS THE MOST EPIC sounding and most difficult to full combo.
One of my favorite songs from the DDR games. I can only AA it as of right now. I love this song so much I have it as my ringtone.
That moment when you passed this song expert but then you realized there is a challenge level of this song and it's an 18
-DAMN YOU KONAMI!-
There isn't. There's just an X-chart, which I'd consider to be separate, since it isn't from the original release.
Oh I have a great memory from high school about this song. My school’s Pep Club was known for bringing video games to play during lunch to raise money for the club. One day, they bring in DDR. I’m like ‘oh it’s on’. It’s a buck per song, so I waste no time and pick this song which was the hardest one available on the game they brought.
So get this, I’m about to pick the song and then one of the Pep Club officers (who is like WAYYY more popular than me) decides to step up to the plate and challenges me. I asked if he was sure about this because he also picked heavy mode. He said yeah let’s go, I said ok and off we went. Whole cafeteria was watching, biggest audience I’d ever had. Two hundred something kids in that room.
He quit like thirty seconds into the song while I just racked up combos. I didn’t FC the song because the pads were those cheapo 20 dollar pads that super duper suck ass, but I managed to pass with an A and got to enjoy a brief fifteen minutes of fame.
When it got to the ending and I was just blowing it away, the entire cafeteria was just losing it. When I finished the song the place exploded. I wouldn’t be surprised if some teachers complained about the noise. But man I was pooped because I had to pass the damn thing on them rinky dink pads with no bar. Gasping for breath while the whole damn lunch room applauds. One of the few highlights of my otherwise depressing four years.
When I first started playing DDR in 2006, on DDR Extreme... clearing this on Heavy was my best achievement. Compared to Max 300, which took me 10 attempts to clear on heavy... I got this one in 2. I never cleared Legend of MAX in the arcade.
I started playing again a week ago, in a bid to get back into shape. Sadly the pads at the arcade I play at aren't perfect on Extreme (right arrow on 2P side sticks, they still have yet to fix it), but they do have a DDR X cabinet, and the 2P side works perfectly. Slowly working my way back into Standard/Difficult, but it'll be a little while before my stamina is enough to tackle Heavy/Expert again. Hopefully, I'll be able to handle this song again before too long.
That said, even on Basic, this song in the Max family is the "Jump Like You MEAN IT!" song.
One of the few songs that I've never even cleared on Standard/Difficult. My goal is to get good enough to at least AA this on Heavy/Expert... that might take a while.
*SCARY INTENSE FOOT STOMPING*
This is such a giant nostalgia kick RIGHT to the face
God I fucking love this song
The only extra stage song I can pass on PS2 with dualshock, any extra stage after Max 2 is just impossible 😂
epic song! (the whole MAX saga kicks ass)
DDRMAX2 -dancedancerevolution 7thmix- (4th april 2001)
back again, keep the arrows flowin chooms
This song is difficult even on light
My legs hurt listening to this.
Max 300 wasn't hard enough for you?
THIS one came next, featuring high-energy beats and synths, and a harder step chart. And when Extreme came out...
...you really started asking yourself "Why do you need KONAMI Original Songs?"
Best MAXX version.
0:32 Rain of Sorrow's breakdown part
Instruments used
Drum percussions you hear in this song are either chopping wood or trees, or junk percussions like plastic bottles, cups and jugs.
0:00 Orchestra hit probably mixed with equalizer and bass booster
0:13 that vocal sample you hear that goes, "Yap, oh, oh" might be either water drops or Ambulance Siren Wailing
0:20 Hoover instrument (ignore other sample on left ear)
0:45 Probably water drop or ambulance siren wailing
0:58 Male vocal done independently. And pluck instrument heard on right, very commonly used instrument in current electronic music.
1:01 That crash sound might be crash cymbals or thunderclap or both
1:31 someone mentioned this sample named Microphone Feedback.
Personally, this sample might be fire alarm, but slowed down.
FUCKING TH-cam DELETED MY FUCKING COMMENT FOR POSTING LINKS FOR TWO INSTUMENTS I MENTIONED! I'M HELPING PEOPLE FIND OUT INSTRUMENTS FOR THIS SONG! FUCK TH-cam!
My favorite.
I approve this message
"Perfect Combo!"
End of the century
The first time I played this song and it froze at 1:01, I thought the game crashed!
I used to think that this was called Niax unlimited X Z. (i read the M wrong)
Stepchart was a little tricky but very fun to play.
2016!
My first 10 footer
A decade ago my warmup was drop out, 300, legend, unlimited TWICE. Best for last, right? maybe one more drop out if my quads needed the attention.
I recently hacked my ps2 to play all the classic ddr games up to supernova. Sn2 set list has some good songs but most of them just never stuck like the classics. This was the one song I’ve never been able to play on ddr extreme
OMG I wanna play this game again 😭😭😭😭😭
I live!!!!
I had a lot more trouble with this than with *The Legend of MAX* .
faster arrows were the only way to do these crazy stages cause you had to spread em the fuck out to see which was coming first!!
i should try that, im still only getting into ddr but damn those thick patterns freak me out
speed mods are your friend, also use noteskins like note and solo that distinguish timing more obviously
When learning harder songs, note>solo/rainbow as solo/rainbow does not distinguish between arrows within 1/8 (half-beat). 1/16 and 1/12 are both shown as purple in solo/rainbow whereas they're yellow and green respectively in note.
just listening to it gets me all tired :(
I remember this one being HARDDDDDD.
hardest track on max 2
MAXX UNLIMITED
•From: DDRMAX2
Both
I want to see you dancing this song with a 1.5 speed!!
i did it on both mat and keyboard
I always considered Unlimited, easier than 300 by Omega. I managed to clear this on Heavy/Expert years back only once. Definitely don't think I can now.
"SIX HUNDRED COMBO"
i don´t now why but this reminds me a Pranoia mix =.=
The heavy version is the "easiest" song I've never passed on pad.
It's like they added that extra "X" in the title....JUST TO PISS ME OFF
this song is easy to get a AA and i did a blind match
Max 300 Super-Max-Me Mix from DDR SuperNOVA took more inspiration from MAXX UNLIMITED than MAX 300
Put your quarter up, you're next.
On mat or keyboard? Because if it was on mat then that would have been impressive, if it was on keyboard? Pft, I could do that....
マツコの知らない世界で流れてた
Too many holds.
I once impressed a girl by playing this song on Standard... Good times, my dudes and dudettes...... Long live DDR is our hearts and memories.
DDR is still a thing with tha release of DDR A20 Plus in 2020 sadly only for tha arcade
Guys this era in our lives..... i love you all. Who ever grew up with thisss i love you. We getting old
AngeL A. im only 17 but hella grew up playingg ddr initial d and street fighter
i'm 27 now i can still remember the tracks trying to find my favs
IM CRYING!!! 24 rn 😩
AngeL A. Yep! I remember when people who could even pass Max 300 were considered monsters. We are outdated now. Last I saw kids were getting high end AAAs and AAs on songs I can’t even read. Ive seen Yasu, JSB, all the greats of our time. People now are in a whole other dimension.
Yes we are im 29 smh...
