@@DickChisqo420 All opinions. I would put this one in my top 10 favorites from from TBS. Some of the songs just hit people differently. This one didn't mean much to me til I met my wife. Now I feel it more. Because I share the sentiment expressed in these beautiful lyrics from my personal favorite band of all time.
For those who can't move on, remember the one line of this song.

I really love how both the song and the video have callbacks to previous Taking Back Sunday's songs lyrics and imagery. "You cut your wrist and said come get you some" and the bleeding on shirts (" You're So Last Summer" ) and the whole twist of the video, that to me it does makes sense: Adam is playing a "ghost" of the memories that the guy from the beginning has, the lyrics talk about the past, "i was living day to day / as the meetings they would suggest / sitting pretty having one foot out that door". He has this memory of a moment that he shared with this girl that he liked but he didn't know how to deal with that, "mamma was calling from the other end / something about someday a woman’s gonna need you / most the time / i didn’t know how to act / i started running and i didn’t look back", hence why he lost her. He's stuck with this memory of his past and that's killing him, "bought the ticket now you’re on the track, you can keep it but you can’t look back", so he's reliving this moment and realizing that he can't stay there, he can't be a ghost of his memories, he can't go back ("What It Feels Like To Be A Ghost" and " Error Operator"). At the end he's leaving his memories of his past behind, and it's open to interpretation in the video if he'll try to fix the mess he feels that he made, even "if it takes" him "all night long" or if he's moving away from that. People aren't help him the way I see it because he's not really there, he's a ghost in his memories, hence why the twist that nobody sees him and that he goes back to the truck that the younger guy came in. I'm fucking in love with this song and video, haha. Congrats TBS, thank you for the hadoken right in the feels.
Other callbacks from previous TBS lyrics and songs that I've forgot that I think it might be worth mentioning: "Like You Do" and "Unnamed Song" (Louder Now Demo).
From personal experience, I like to interpret it as he is moving away from that. Especially coming from their Happiness Is... Album. The next step of regret and sorrow from divorce, is moving on and maturing from it especially on how he knows he can't fix that past.

They can't just keep doing the same kind of music. They're older, wiser, they want to explore and try new things. I love this new song, and I can't see what some of you guys are saying, to me this has TBS written all over. People criticised Taking Back Sunday when Fred joined, when Matt joined, when New, Again didn't live up to their expectations (that record rips, btw). They criticised when John rejoined, when Stood a Chance had a more poppy sound and they're complaining now because most people don't like change. But Taking Back Sunday have been a band for nearly 20 years in an industry where a band's lifespan is usually less than half of that. They know what they're doing.

I was 21 when I started listening to Taking Back Sunday. They are literally my favorite band since them because I grew up with them and their sound matured while we grew older (and wiser? Still feel the same way, still don't know where I'm going). I'm pushing 35 now and feel incredibly blessed to see how far we came, and it's absolutely crazy to me how they always release songs and albums that resonate with whatever I'm going through at a such personal level. This song and video might be one of the best they've ever released, and I'm counting the days until September, 16th!!

I haven't heard all of TBS's songs but I think I heard a lot and enough to say that this band makes me feel that it's okay to grow old. You can say it doesn't sound TBS anymore but it's always TBS to me.

I took this as an anti drinking and driving video. He's revisiting the night he died and how no one saw that he needed help and shouldn't have driven. Either way, great video and amazing song! Saw the live for the first time tonight after listening 10 years. Bravo!

1. The melody bears heavy resemblance to the melodies of Boys of Summer. That's a fact. Not a negative thing, I love those melodies.
2. The beat and production borrow techniques from country recordings. This form of alt rock and country mostly differ in vocal and guitar style. Again, not a negative thing, just a basic fact. Some people will call this a negative, I just say it is.

To me this song represents a de-realization/de-personalization episode. Which often coincides with depression. I’ve experienced both my whole life very extremely.
But what I love about this song is the growth. To me he is outside of his own body. Searching for his way back. A ghost around his loved ones. Avoidant. But he meets this person who shows him what I means to grow. “I’m not the same man, not since you came in.”
He realized he was changing as he was outside his own skin feeling so strange. It felt unfamiliar to see himself grow but in the end he “liked the fit.” He fought the change but ultimately succumbed to love.
So how I relate to this song is by this meaning I’ve given it. Because it’s so true. You can’t look back. Keep moving forward, but stay present. Let go of guilt and shame and make your peace and learn from it. Life is beautiful and love is beautiful even if we’ve never known how to embrace either.
And I think that’s what him getting into the truck at the ending is supposed to symbolize. He’s bloody. Beaten. Had one foot out that door. But ultimately he looked down and changed his mind. He realized he was searching for something but he didn’t know what. He finally sees he was looking to heal from this ailment. You can keep what you’ve learned, but you can’t look back.

If you're watching it for the first time, try just listening to the song without watching the video first and then try watching it. The video kind of distracts you from the song. People are saying that it sounds like country, but I think the video is what's convincing them that. It may look like a music video for a country song, however, the song is not.
You might not like this song when you first hear it. I wasn't sure about it at first, but I am a huge TBS fan. So I listened to it a few more times. I found that i actually really like this song. A lot! So if you're a real fan of Taking Back Sunday, you will give it another chance too! If you're not a true fan, then this song will just weed out those of you who don't really appreciate Taking Back Sunday.
