Fascinating! I went to the Markets of Trajan video after viewing this video, and it does not disappoint. Being quite intact one gets a sense from the markets of what the architecture must have looked like when walking down the street in that period. Startlingly similar to many of the buildings we use today.
These pictures from this 2014 upload are a bit out of date now. They've partially reconstructed a second level of colonnades that allow visitors to get a sense of the height of the structure.

I dont think its unfortunate that medieval buildings were built ontop of that section. Adds to the beauty and history.
