Minnesota Rancher. We have reds browns and oddballs here. I'd be hard pressed to match one of your #1s. Nice job. I like your buyers informative manner. Pass along some positive feedback to him. Thanks.

Very interesting. I've watched my fur buyers do this and wondered just what exactly they were looking for. When I asked, they never have explained it as well as your guy here did.
One of the fur auctions I heard about this year, the average on coyotes was $24.....considering that, you did really well. All the fur prices are terrible this year, coyotes to muskrats....

Thanks for taking us along- it's a damn shame to have such a price difference year to year considering the work that went into them never did- personally I prefer the odd ball ones- but I understand his point of not being able to match it- great video- did you bring him any fox ??

Damn shame the market is crap!! Can you hold on to em? Maybe next year it will go up or in there years things will change and get back to normal?

I got an off colored coyote this year, Rusty! He was the most vocal and probably not worth much to a buyer but I wouldn't sell him! Good looking furs you have got there, nice work!

Like the videos , but I got a question… if your buyer is paying you 65% less for a dog vs last year of the same quality , and he is using them for garments and such , is he asking less for said garments this year ? I highly doubt it … in fact his pricing has probably gone up … (even without this crazy inflation that is going on ) if we stop selling at discounted prices and just hold on to our fur I believe things would change .. yes there are long liners that have to get some kind of money back at the end of season but I would say that a lot of trappers selling 30-40 coyotes per season would impact the market in a big way if we held on to them until we got a fair price . It seems like we are the only ones losing.
It’s like the stock market , we should continue to trap and put up excellent fur but hang on to it until the prices go up .
Put up fur lasts a long time in a cool dry environment.
Love the videos ! Just a thought I had

@@montanawolftrapper8666 I agree with you both. I didn't even trap for coyotes at all this year for that reason. The trouble is, if we boycott the fur market, we are cutting our own throats too. If we don't trap, and they have nothing to make fur coats and things with, they don't make any money......if they don't make money, they go out of business.....or start using fake fur......then who do we sell our fur to? We can tan and use some of it, but how much?

Those are all beautiful yotes to me! The easterns here tend towards ugly. Had a few come in that look more like western yotes though. Not near as silky though. And nearly every one has some sort of rub or lice spot, and the worst are short napped brownish rubbed low grades. They must all be crawling around in mega briar patches to rub and singe. Pulling the briars out with their teeth. However, the smaller ones stretch to mid to upper 40's, and bigger ones in the 50's. I legit had a 35 or so pounder go to 70" total length. On a custom stretcher that is a bit bigger than the typical yote size. A shame they are so ugly. These are all for customers wanting them tanned, and most hunters here have no idea of fur grading, and very few trappers. I see an ugly rubbed brownish yote, they see a beautiful fur of an animal they shot while deer hunting, or found fresh-ish on the road .
