    Just bought me a used ASA 5506x to play with and your video helped me get started. Very smooth video and easy to follow if you know the basics. Your generosity keeps giving. THANKS!

    Hi Rob, I've been trying to follow along with this but it's not clear to me where the PC you are pinging from and then running ADSM on is connected. mgmt is on 10.255.10.0/24 but none of your g0/x interfaces are connected to that network? So which interface is the mgmt traffic reaching the ASA on and how? Thanks

    Just acquired an old ASA 5516-X, and this is my first Cisco device. I don't even know how to physically connect to it! I found a console cable, but it has a serial connection. No machines have serial connections anymore!

    Hi Rob. First I want to thank you for creating these videos, keep up the good work. Its understandable also for beginners like me (us). I want to ask you something. I'm trying to build a scenario in GNS3. I have a cisco Router, ASA and 2 workstations (just for testing the ping). How do I need to configure my interfaces in the Router and the ASA. Do you have a email where I can find you there?. I'm trying to give the router access to the internet and the Asa to be behind the router to have an outside interface and a inside interface with the two workstations. I'm a bit confused since I'm using vmnet adapters. I have a GNS3 Server hosted on my laptop through VMWare Workstation. The Router's 1st interface is bridged to my laptop. P.S Sorry for the long comment

      So the PCs are supposed to ping the router? You'll need to enable NAT on the ASA and allow ICMP to pass through the firewall.

    How do you assign an IP address to a GigabitEthernet 1/1 or 1/2 interface port on an ASA device? Could you list the commands, please?

      Oh...the device is a Cisco ISA 3000.

    I have been trying to configure CISCO 5506 with layer 3 switch that has multiple intervlan in the switch. I can't seem to get it to work. I understand router on stick but in this case, I was trying to have a default route on the switch to forward all traffic regardless of what VLAN it came from.

      If the switch is the gateway, the switch and ASA need routes pointing to each other.

    Is the point of this video trying to impress people with your fast typing of commands? You talk and you type, but I have no idea what you're trying to do, and you don't explain much. You have an overly complex network diagram behind you, but it's covered up the entire video. Please think about this stuff before you make a video.

    • @RobRikerTechChannel
      @RobRikerTechChannel  3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      The point of the video is walk YOU through the setup of an ASA from a blank configuration. That topology is covered up to emphasize the ASA firewall I am configuring. I am typing really slow and breaking down the steps one by one. If your new to IT or networking, I can see why you would feeling behind the curve. Its fine, we all started from zero at one point. In the future, less trolling is in your best interest, so use direct questions to help me better answer your technical questions.
