Daisy Cutter doesn't refer to a specific weapon but to a type of fuse. They're a kind of air burst fuse that goes off just above the ground, the explosion in the air 'cuts the heads off the daisies' (aka people). Daisy Cutters were first used all the way back in World War 1, although Vietnam and the BLU-82 seem to have put the idea into popular culture.
The tenacity of anthrax spores causes problems in unexpected places. This is a good informative video. However, I would point out to Simon, that as far as the magnetic exploder is concerned, the German Navy suffered the same problems with it that the Americans did. Also there were similar problems with the Contact torpedo exploders. This was especially evident during the Norway campaign. In fact I believe it was U-boat commander of U-47 that Gunther Prien that complained about going out hunting with dummy rifles. As for the rest, yes it was because of lack proper testing, but also the stubbornness of the Bureau of Ordnance, in admitting there was a problem with them.
An interesting continuation of this subject would be the Rod from God. An orbital weapon system, based around giant metal poles, magnets and kinetic energy.
actually they used a lot more phosgene and chlorine gas in ww1 than mustard. also mustard was not usallay fatal but left a person with serious long term damage. phosgene gas was alot more deadly than mustard but had limitations in use and was realtively easy to clean up unlike mustard gas which is extremly complex to clean up properly and requires lots of special equipment.
The early version of tear has had a phosgene base actually had to work a little bit with phosgene it is absolutely something that should not be played with

0:27 Where is this Herasheemer you speak of? I'm unfamiliar with a location named Herasheemer.
I’ve always heard it pronounced that way. It’s the correct Japanese pronunciation. The only people I’ve heard pronounce it differently are yanks, but then they have enough problems with English so no wonder they struggle with Japanese!
@@AtheistOrphan Wrong! Japanese people do not pronounce the name of that city with an "r" sound at the end. That's a peculiarity of British pronunciation.
I swear Simon… could’ve sworn I’ve seen this same bomb discussed half a dozen times across all of your channels 😂

Megaprojects has a video on the MOAB.
Yeah I swear I saw this thumbnail already
Lol, when I saw the thumbnail I thought it was a repost
@@TheCorpsehatch Lol, yes, sometimes topics repeat. Writers make a lot of suggestions... and sometimes I forget we covered it already ;). Honestly, it's a lot to keep track of.
As for the rest, yes it was because of lack proper testing, but also the stubbornness of the Bureau of Ordnance, in admitting there was a problem with them.
wait, havent you done a vid like this before? about the FOAB? interestin..
Simon: " I do hope you found this video interesting."
Me: "Dude, I found this video scary."
An interesting continuation of this subject would be the Rod from God. An orbital weapon system, based around giant metal poles, magnets and kinetic energy.
Metallica and Death, I like you
@@jonnyblade3234 thank you kind stranger
Gotta watch out for the ceramics inside of the moab
Very interesting video. The guy that did the Megaprojects video made a better one though
Why would innocent civilians be in a tunnel system used to attack our troops and disappear back into them??
Thermobaric weapons are far more effective and (arguably) more humane than the legacy incendiaries (napalm, et al) which preceded them.
Gravity bombs will be something. Dropping heavy stuff from satellites and letting gravity do the work will be atomic
Thank you
Cold War just fizzled out? Lmao. Ask Ronald Regan about that.
Thanks for providing me yet another reason to not sleep at night.
Wait wasn't this already done? I remember this thumbnail.
Perfect timing fact boi. Just watched mother of all pipe bombs at ordnance labs channel. 👍
"ordnance lab"? **looks** damnit, I already follow too many channels. I guess one more...
He killed some goats with biggest bomb we have lol 😆 😂 🤣
I wouldn’t say the Cold War fizzled out?
my god man that beard is taking over. look at him he can't even hold his head right
Please made a video of these explosions at the 1:11 please i love the non nuclear explosions.
The world had seen much worse infernos prior to that. Humans just hadn't been around to record them yet.
LMao that was weird I was eating an apple during your Squarespace ad.
that beard is insane
Whatever alien out there, they had all good reason to come without peace to this naked ape planet lol
actually they used a lot more phosgene and chlorine gas in ww1 than mustard. also mustard was not usallay fatal but left a person with serious long term damage. phosgene gas was alot more deadly than mustard but had limitations in use and was realtively easy to clean up unlike mustard gas which is extremly complex to clean up properly and requires lots of special equipment.
The early version of tear has had a phosgene base actually had to work a little bit with phosgene it is absolutely something that should not be played with
@@bobflatman278 intresting i thought the early form of tear gas were Xylyl bromide or Ethyl bromoacetate which they germans used against the russians at Bolimów but it was so cold it froze.
I think it's funny that he called the C-130 Hercules huge. Seriously though the idea for massive ordinance came from the Halifax explosion.
Imagine if they filled it with a tetrazole or Aziodazide azide! 😬
B.anthracis causes the infection of mediastinal lymph nodes, not the lungs. lungs stay intact.
What about that HUGE cube shaped bomb that sat on a shipping palate and was rolled out the back of a cargo plane. It was developed during the vietnam war and was used to clear jungle for landing zones.....can't remember the nomenclature.
I could have sworn you'd already done them mother of all bombs episode
0:53 15 megatons? try 50...otherwise good video!
One of the funniest things I’ve ever heard in war was when a MOAB was dropped in Iraq and someone from the Australian military got on the coms and yelled “The yank’s just nuked the ‘raqi’s!” 😆
Why dont we use video games? There are enough war games and nobody would die.
2 parts liquid hydrogen, plus 1 part liquid oxygen
plus pressure, lots of pressure, and you've got something amazing.
He never mentioned the tall boy or grandslam
Banning just makes your enemy stronger ...........
I can confirm that more then one person has pulled a dr straight love on the model in one of the photos
Out of curiosity Factboy. How far does a sidewinder missile fly for? Like if you can dodge one for long enough will it just fall out of the sky? Will it explode when it hits the ground? Thanks. X
Could you please supply the Amazon link?
I was fortunate enough to see the moab used in Afghanistan in that clip. The video does not do it justice to how massive it really is, it's quite a reality check tbh. I would not want to witness anything nuclear in my lifetime
Also, it was dropped in the South Eastern part of Afghanistan near Achin District, not in the North East.
@@UDONT_NOME thank you for that info and for your service. 👊🇺🇸
So was I. We had just left Nangarhar Province a few days before it was dropped and had one of our other Companies in the battalion there. 2016-2017 Afghanistan was wild
@@TexasPoonTapa it sure was lol
If you want a laugh Simon, Bing"Trumpy Bear" I swear it's a real product!
I live in Panama City Beach about 60 miles away from where they did testing for this and it was blowing out windows here. Everyone heard it.
Will we get a video about - Dead Hand also known as Perimeter - a Cold War-era automatic nuclear weapons-control system that was used by the Soviet Union.
I didnt know they measured tonnage of MOAB explosions in DMT.
So much potential for greatness and yet we squander it on our own destruction, it is as fascinating as it is vexing.
You forgot to mention nova gas
