1 The way Flandre speaks is actually clever. She instantly catches marisa in a lie. Breaks the 4th wall. Keeps a theme of six little Indians and is able to describe her and remi's power simple enough for aya to understand. 2 she has the power to destroy ANYTHING just by squeezing her palm, and has only two weaknesses: the sun(which she can destroy) and running water(which immobilizes her). 3 though some of her spellcards are just raw power most of them are very creative trapping you and requiring you to form a strategy. I'd say Flandre is stronger then the majority of the cast. Though Koishi, Ran, Yukari, Mokou, Kaguya, Eirin, Tenshi, Utsuho and Reisen could take her out due to their abilities.
IMO she knows how to use her powers too well. That's why she is in the basement, she is too dangerous and crazy. Oh also I forgot to put Patchouli and Suika in the list above. XD but yeah a lot of fan interpretations have her as the naive cute girl that accidentally destroys houses so I can see how you would think that.

Also, if it seems like I'm being difficult, I apologize. I admittedly identify with Flandre on a personal level, having dealt with bipolar disorder for ten years now. (Which is 2% of what she's had to endure, and I had support and medication.) I'm also almost empathetic to a fault, so I feel I understand her story and what how she might feel. I just think there isn't enough light cast on how tragic of a character she actually is. Or maybe I just think way too much. I tend to do that.
Marisa is said to be the only other character to have been close to defeating Flandre and that’s why Flandre loves Marisa so much because she is the only one that can play with her without getting completely obliterated in a matter of seconds.

You are right about one thing, she is an extra “character” - she is so hard that ZUN decided to actually have mercy on their players by making it that players can have the chance of defeating her only by proving themselves worthy of even facing her by playing the game through Normal WITHOUT dying (GOOD LUCK ON THAT!). But other than that, players can say that they beat the game even though they didn’t officially unlock everything. Flandre is the Sephiroth of Kingdom Hearts.

I was actually taking into account ZUN's official profiles for Flandre since that would tell you the most out of all of them. Level difficulty is far too general because some simulations may have different difficulties for different people and yada yada. Whereas the profiles are more set-in-stone. Because LONGER doesn't necessarily always mean HARDER. Or else these trolls would be considered "smarter" - the longer that they go on and on.

In Bohemian Archive in Japanese Red, Aya is trying to interview Flandre on her destruction of the meteor (This implies that Flandre is not insane, because she can talk to other people), but it's difficult because she says words such as "I just made it go boom!" 2. She's not as strong as people make her out to be. I'm sure Byakuren and Toyosato, Mononobe, etc. could kick her ass. 3. She's not a very strategic character.
Furthermore, an extra boss is the most powerful boss of all. Someone who hasn’t ever played Touhou before can figure THIS one out: for every level, a boss’s level gets higher and higher. A level one boss isn’t going to appear on the last level of the game and vice versa. And if a boss doesn’t even appear chronologically in that order then that means that their power is even greater than that set and deserves a class of their own thus creating the “extra level” boss. It’s not rocket science.

Well, Flandre is one of the most over-hyped characters in the sieries. She's not really as overpowered and insane as people make her out to be. Stupid and naive, but not insane.
Resting implies living - just because something doesn't LITERALLY say the EXACT word "living" doesn't mean that the two do not connect. Furthermore, there is a reason why Remi believes that she's too powerful - it's because SHE IS. If you have played the games of Touhou then you would soon realize that there is a HUGE difference. I recommend you playing Insane against Flandre and then one of her so-called "equals" and dare tell me that they were just as hard.
The only reason why she wouldn’t make a frequent appearance is because her sister has locked her up in the Mansion therefore you aren’t going to see her UNLESS you go to the actual Mansion. It isn’t that ZUN no longer cares, it is that they cannot take her out just for the he11 of it since that would go against their own plot.

The Wikia gives the Official Profiles for the characters and for Flan’s it says “Ability: Destruction of anything and everything”. Yeah, sure - that doesn’t sound “dangerous” at all, huh? HAHAHA! Remilia needs a parasol to go outside during the day. Her whole plotline revolved around her trying to block out the sun so she could function. It's not really being "low," it's being desperate and alone for hundreds and hundreds of years with no help at all. Anyone would have lost all hope by then. And the fact that absolutely everyone she knows thinks she's a destructive psychopath doesn't help. If anything, she's incredibly strong for enduring it for so long. Mental illness is very serious.
Are you positive? Because Remi would happily disagree with you on that since she locked her down the basement for about a billion years or so (although that probably only made it WORST with the after-effects of solitary confinement.. Good job there, Remi)
When something says “everything”, it means EVERYTHING. Whether its Touhou or not. I fail to see how that could possibly confuse you. And if she isn’t “special” because of those requirements then I would wonder just how “unspecial” Sephiroth would be. Everyone knows and fears Sephiroth and it would be just as big of a joke to consider Flandre as nothing special if someone thought the same about him.

A level one boss isn’t going to appear on the last level of the game and vice versa. And if a boss doesn’t even appear chronologically in that order then that means that their power is even greater than that set and deserves a class of their own thus creating the “extra level” boss. It’s not rocket science.

Uhm, Flandre's only about 490~ years old or so, and she's not really locked in the basement, she's just not allowed to go outside. Remilia fears for the denizens of Gensokyo, but what she doesn't realize is that most of them can equal Flandre's power if not already stronger. There was that one time when Flandre destroyed a meteor, but the only thing is that Flandre had a premonition about it, any character could have destroyed it, Flandre was just the only one to know. She's stpid and naive.

Flandre isn't stupid, judging by her spellcards, she's actually a smart girl judging by her spellcards. She knows stuff like end of proof statements and refraction. It would make patchouli entirely useless if she was dumb.
Well, Flandre is one of the most over-hyped characters in the sieries. She's not really as overpowered and insane as people make her out to be. Stupid and naive, but not insane.

I recommend you playing Insane against Flandre and then one of her so-called "equals" and dare tell me that they were just as hard.

The only reason why she wouldn’t make a frequent appearance is because her sister has locked her up in the Mansion therefore you aren’t going to see her UNLESS you go to the actual Mansion. It isn’t that ZUN no longer cares, it is that they cannot take her out just for the he11 of it since that would go against their own plot.
And not only that, but you said “It's never stated that she is more powerful than anyone else.” YES, IT HAS. The Wikia gives the Official Profiles for the characters and for Flan’s it says “Ability: Destruction of anything and everything”. Yeah, sure - that doesn’t sound “dangerous” at all, huh? HAHAHA! I COULD HAVE SHOWN THIS EARLIER BUT HE11 WHAT KIND OF FUN WOULD THAT BE FOR ME?

Remilia needs a parasol to go outside during the day. Her whole plotline revolved around her trying to block out the sun so she could function.
It's not really being "low," it's being desperate and alone for hundreds and hundreds of years with no help at all. Anyone would have lost all hope by then. And the fact that absolutely everyone she knows thinks she's a destructive psychopath doesn't help. If anything, she's incredibly strong for enduring it for so long.

When something says “everything”, it means EVERYTHING. Whether its Touhou or not. I fail to see how that could possibly confuse you. And if she isn’t “special” because of those requirements then I would wonder just how “unspecial” Sephiroth would be. Everyone knows and fears Sephiroth and it would be just as big of a joke to consider Flandre as nothing special if someone thought the same about him.
