Robert Durst stands trial for the 2000 murder of friend Susan Berman. The trial began just before the pandemic in early 2020 and was halted two weeks in. The restart happened on May 17, 2021, with the same jury panel.
The defendant’s wife Kathleen McCormack Durst went missing in 1982. Evidence and testimony would show that Robert Durst killed her, the prosecutor said. The defendant allegedly told Berman it was an accident and asked her for help. She served as his alibi.
Berman, 55, was shot execution-style at her Beverly Hills home in 2000, and the prosecution suggested that it was because of what she knew about Kathleen’s death and disappearance. As defense lawyer Dick DeGuerin would have it, however, Durst is innocent. His client only came across the body, panicked, and fled, he maintained.

I've watched a ton of trials on TH-cam and Lewin is my favorite prosecutor of all time. Brilliant cross and trapping this liar every which way.

It is about time that Durst should be held responsible for what he has done. Since childhood he has never had to face the consequences for his actions.
Oh my gosh....I was laughing so hard when Mr. Lewin made his big reveal about the hospital Katherine wanted to work at that I about woke my husband up from a deep sleep. Mr. Lewin is simply the best prosecuting attorney ever!

I can not begin to imagine how frustrating it is for Lewin, who undoubtedly knows dursts case better than durst does, and has to listen to bobs endless stream of lies, day in and day out.
It was cringing watching this case! But it's over now! Lol

Best case scenario? That he tells/confesses to murdering Kathie and tells the whole story of what he did to her for the sake of justice and for her family.
Durst will never be convicted for the murder of Susan BerGman.

Durst acts like he can’t hear questions he needs to think about. Watch him answer some questions immediately, without reading the text on his tablet.

I noticed that too. He can hear what is being heard. Especially from Lewin, who speaks louder. It is a ploy for Durst to figure out how he is going to answer the questions.

There is no way Durst can get out of this now. If the Jury for some reason acquit this psychopath like they did before, I would lose all hope for mankind; and I don't have much hope to begin with.
Having the ability to read every question on the Ipad, gives him plenty of time to think before answering.
I believe, he CAN hear the prosecuter. Watch how he slips several times and answers questions without reading first.

Amazing comments. It’s like there’s two different trials being watched. I can’t comprehend how someone could think this prosecutor is anything but brilliant and doing a phenomenal job in impeaching this pathological, pompous, arrogant, entitled puke. Unless they’ve only seen an hour of the four year long trial. Symptomatic of what wrong with society today, take today’s sound bite and form an opinion based on a complete lack of knowledge or information. The Lenox Hill confrontation at the end of today was unbelievable, that’s lawyering at its finest my friends.
A similar phenomenon occurred in the Chauvin trial. Lots of people were claiming Eric Nelson the defence attorney "hit it out of the park", when he did nothing of the sort, and presented a very weak case for the defence with witnesses whose credibility was open to question. A trial, especially one that's been going on for as long as this one, will have parts that are "wins" for one side or the other. It's like a battle or a hockey game. I think many people see what they want to see in trials, but how they can side with someone like Durst is beyond me. Perhaps it's because he's ill.

If this prosecutor was the prosecutor in Galveston, durst would’ve been on death row in texas almost 20 years ago. He’s awesome!! Durst is guilty for all of them. ‘Killed them all, of course’ BD

@@ajordan1976 He was arrested for this murder after he made the statement about killing them all. But that statement was not the reason he was arrested. The DA in California & FBI had been building a case against Durst for yrs. That statement was just icing on the cake.

Omg. This is good enough for popcorn & a blanket! I’d hoped Lewin would destroy Durst on the stand but this is almost embarrassing.
I really don’t think Lewin is doing a good job. Soooo many of his questions in this trial have been long and convoluted. He also just wastes so much time banging the jury over the head with things. So many of his lines of questioning are drawn out and tedious. He gets obsessed with getting specific answers to questions when it’s not necessary (i.e. he’s made his point, and the jury likely gets it). And I don’t think he needs to go through every single element/event of Durst’s marriage with dozens and dozens of video clips. At some point there are diminishing returns, and the jury is going to be bored and frustrated with him.

@@300sl5 Juries are definitely never predictable. But if Lewin loses this case, it would be his first.
I absolutely agree with his approach through the trial as a whole, but I think his theatrics are working for him Crossing Durst. He's keeping things entertaining and saying what the jury is likely already thinking. Days and days of this may start to backfire though.

Lewin cross examines in frat boy style. I expected him to say "seriously dude" at some point. I know he thinks he is being effective at getting the job done but he is looking like his chain is being pulled. Calm down and leave the emotions at home. He is emphasizing things that aren't even important.

I would like to hear what basis the defense can object to the statement "you have perjured yourself." Anyone that has been listening has heard him lie.
I cannot believe the prosecutor got offended at Robert Durst making light of something. Durst made a slight joke about the length of the prosecutor's question. Prosecutor has made THE MOST inappropriate statements at the most inappropriate times all throughout this trial. What nerve!!! Accusing Durst of perjury was just a way for him to get in on TV the fact that his own wife is a surgeon. All of a sudden the prosecutor cares about making levity surrounding the death of someone? Give me a break! And in no way do I believe Durst is innocent, in no way do I believe Durst is telling the truth about his wife Kathy. But the prosecutor should not have gotten mad about what Durst said. It's what he's been doing every single day.

I agree....at one point the prosecutor was relaying a story to Durst during the trial that he was talking to his young kids about Durst, stating that Bob loves dogs and they asked if he would ever hurt their dad or if he would ever come and hurt their dog to which Lewin responded that Bob would never hurt their family dog. WTH?? Why is he talking to his own kids about this case? Isn’t this all supposed to be confidential? I thought it was highly inappropriate for him to do that but no one seemed to notice it. Just a thought.
It didn’t seem to me that Lewin was offended. I thought his comeback was perfect! Especially as a prosecutor, I think Lewin has a lot thicker skin than that.

No he hasn't. He hasn't been tried for Kathy's murder and he's on trial right now for Susan's.
Only thing I can think of is he's trying to establish Durst's lack of credibility for a possible future trial for Kathy's death. I feel for the jury.
He can't be tried twice for the same criminal charges I believe so no.

While I've rooted along w/this forum, I do see Lewin sliding backwards and to see him pop his fuse with Durst, he's starting spin his wheels and not gaining the traction he had intended. It may have been intentional mind phuckery on the DA's part, but a costly one at that. It is a battle of mind phuckery in day 2, day 2 and Lewin popped a fuse. Lewin shouldn't have brought his personal baggage in on this day.

In my view, Kathie had not escape from be killed. If she was in age maybe she did her own life in this marriage. Job, friends, sport, something good for she. He never might be upset on she, because in front of the world they were a perfect couple! But she as a Gemini was not too much diplomatic as a married woman with a narcisist man and she lost her life or maybe she got to take her life during this marriage. She was not mature, poor girl! Or he cut her alive and after.
