For anyone wondering (29:02) the best way of "finding" your art style is after learning the fundamentals (anatomy, form, perspective etc.) just copy artists styles you like, combine them, mash them together, mix it up etc. A common misconception is you'll just fall into it, but you have to go search for your art style. Make sure to play on your strengths too.

BTW there's no even need to copy other people's art styles by actually drawing. Even reading manga for example is emough, your brain will still learn by analyzing those artworks in the manga and will implement something you actually like. Sometimes even unintentionally
But I agree - learning fundamentals is nessecary in the first place and play on something you're special at. For example, if a person likes to apply pressure when drawing lines - it's not bad, it's a feature. It's logical to learn how to use it in a right way.

To explain how artstyles devlope. Yes it often starts with "stealing" from the art styles you like. But over time, while we gain experience and devlop our own preferences and habbits, it slowly devlopes into it's own style. FUrther down the line you figure out how to controll and devlop your artstyle conciously and thatÄs how super unique styles like Baki's find their way into existance.
In art, everyone is stealing from everyone. That's what people say.

Big piece of advice for anyone that wants to get into drawing or are starting to. Make fun of yourself! Not overly harsh judgement but hummor. Draw something silly from time to time, draw someone with a pin head or a OWO face. This art is meant for you and to start having fun you need to let yourself have fun. Do not let yourself associate pratice with frustration and stress, anything you draw exercises your creativity.

29:00 Art style isn't actually what people think it is, like, you don't ''get one'', an art style, in my experience, is just you drawing stuff in a way that you draw them fast, its why like, when you think of a style you'd think of a cool specific eye shape right, but like, that shape isn't ''oh i thought of this style and i painstakingly do it every time'' and instead its ''i know how to draw eyes like this real quick like cause it feels natural to me''.
Basically, ime, artstyle is how you do shortcuts in art, and people develop shortcuts in different ways and shapes cause it comes easier to them and paired with how they learned and what they like, it ends up making them a bit unique.
Art styles are an amalgamation of the styles you’ve taken form other artist that you find easier or more enjoyable to draw. For me it’s a combination of kantaro Muira primarily and then a large list of random concept artist/ Seinen mangaka that used similar shading styles
I think art style is best represented by fundamentals. Knowing your fundamentals well lets you know how you can stretch, shape, and use them in different ways while selling an idea in your art. It lets you know what you can and cant get away with alongside how you like doing it with trial and error over time
I never understood why people are like “how to find your art style” like finding your frickin keys. You don’t “find it,” you grow it through experiences in art.
I’m happy for Felix. He looks happy with life whenever he uploads now. He’s worked so hard to get where he is, and he deserves the best life can offer him.
if i had any advice to give to someone learning to draw it would be this: DO NOT use the "ill enjoy drawing when i'm good" mentality, it will never happen. As people become more experienced in a craft, their ability to judge said craft also improves. you'll literally be chasing your own shadow. its important to enjoy what you're doing when you're doing it. ive seen a lot of artists with imposter syndrome or really low self esteem despite being very talented.
I didn't know I have that kind of mentality until I read your comment and realized I have that kind of mentality 😂. I don't hate drawing in general, I just hate the results I get because I'm the kind of person that cares more about the result than the process, I guess my capitalism mindset just seeps through my hobbies.

as a new uncle (technically third cousin or whatever, cuz family hierarchy is funni), i must confirm that since, half a year ago i saw my cousin let their 1 year old daughter watch TH-cam uninterrupted during lunch, and now i'm scared thinking about the future
I and my girlfriend were 17 when our son was born. Luckily we had our parents who collectively have 9 children and 3 grandchildren. Thanks to them we have a normal 5 year old who is sociable. Also thank God the kindergartens didn't shut down during the pandemic.

@@deiz1083 I don't get frustrated with someone's success, I think this mindset says more about you than me. I do TH-cam casually and speak about things I am passionate about. Besides I still have over 500K views which for my channel size is pretty good. You couldn't pay me enough to be talking about TH-cam drama or talking crap about other people for a living. Not to mention reciting videos by other youtubers. It's common these days but it's definitely not my thing. Regardless you are entitled to your opinion just as I am entitled to mine. That's what the comment section is for.

Pewdiepie is honestly the most successful man ever like he's rich but not stupid rich where it makes you ungrateful, he has a loving beautiful wife, a handsome son, still pretty youthful himself too! did everything he had to for youtube and still an amazing guy by uploading his day to day life every once awhile like keeping us updated because he knows we would all like that information about him. he was even able to say the N word and basically walk away with it not hurting him much except maybe potential black friends or something. But overall Felix deserves everything he has, amazing life and next year im visiting Japan with my friend so I pray to god by chance I get to see Felix for the first time in my life hopefully not doing family activities so i can go up to him i wouldnt want to say anything if he was busy with family

As an artist myself, seeing him grow and improve overtime is so inspiring. Like him, I am also my worst critic, but as I grow I also teach myself to love what I draw. To love what you create is the key to loving yourself more and to gain self esteem and confidence.

The first manga I ever read was kekkaishi vol. 14 I believe and I read the first three pages wrong before I figured it out. Ruined the volume but had a basis for where the story was going. The whole time reading I was looking forward to knowing the context. I'm weird, I care more about the context than I do the conclusion.
edit: OMG IT WAS VOL. 14! I don't know how I remembered that. I read it in middle school! Kekkaishi IS my favorite manga series though. I borrowed the manga from a kid in the middle of class. I had just finished a book and he was bragging that chapter books don't compare. Before this very moment I had never watched an anime or read a manga. This event is what transformed me forever into a neet. I was finishing chapter books and doing homework. Never had a dirty thought on my mind.
