I cant believe you need a box that big for that small of a speaker. My 12 inch car subwoofer only called for 1 cubic ft of space. My old Boston cr6 speakers have a box half that size. Dont need that size box. Good job on what you did up there though.

Thanks so much for this! So the felt would cover the entire outer box?

Felt on the inside. I was trying to get the most bass out of the 6.5" speakers as I could. Not necessary, but it did help.

Hi, What tool did you use for the cut out after you marked it out on the ceiling?

Does the box have to be made of wood material, I was considering foam board. Am I off key

Foam board probably isn't your best option. 3/4 inch MDF Preferred Choice

Oh, I have 8" Polk speakers, can I use the same measurements for the box?

I would go bigger shoot for .9 cu ft. if you have the room. Multiply the length, width, and height and divide the resulting number by 1,728. This is the container's volume in cubic feet.
so for example 12" x 12" x 11" /1728 = .917 cu. ft. You can change the dimensions to fit your space as long as it comes to around .9 cu.ft.

The size of a box at best as a guess. Nissan ceiling speakers were designed to have it infinite baffle which means that they were designed to use the whole attic by using the Box you're likely to lose the efficiency of the speaker. I believe a ported speaker would be the best option for this with a port going back into the room I think it would look stupid in an in ceiling installation
