    Hopefully this will clear a few things up:
    C --> Common. This is the contact that switches between the other two contacts (NO & NC). Also known as a wiper. This makes contact between the NC and NO terminal contacts, one at a time as you push the button on and then off. (It toggles between the two.)
    NO --> Normally Open. As the name implies, it means that the switch will not be making between C and NO when NOT depressed. When the switch is depressed it will then make contact between the C and NO terminals.
    NC --> Normally Closed. This is making contact between the C and NC when the switch is NOT depressed. When pushed it opens that contact and now makes contact with C and NO terminals.
    The + and - terminals when connected to power and ground light the LED in the switch.
    The terms come from understanding that when left unpushed, the switch is in the 'Normal' position, and contact between the Common and one of the other two contacts determine if the circuit is either Open (no current flowing) or Closed (current is flowing). Hence Normally Open and Normally Closed. When the switch is pushed to the ON position, those two terminals reverse their functions; Open becomes Closed and Closed becomes Open.

    C = Common (Live)
    No = Normally Open (Switch is broken/open)
    Nc = Normally Closed (Switch is connected / Closed)
    L or + = Live / Power
    G or picture of earth symbol or GND = Ground
    Ultimately C and No makes a circuit that is switched off until you press the button.
    C and Nc makes a circuit that has permanent supply but switches off by pressing the button.
    The permanent L and GND is supply to illuminate the halo.
    That is the typical uses of this switch giving the installer a choice of a normally open (off) circuit or a normally closed (On) circuit.

    FYI (momentary buttons only)
    NO means "Normally Open," which means the connection to your accessory is OFF unless you press the button (good for horn)
    NC means "Normally Closed," which means the connection to your accessory is ON unless you press the button (good for...hmm not sure in a car...bad for a horn I guess😂)

    Try to make this quick and easy. You already know + and - are for the light (those are the two terminals facing the same direction. The 3 in a row
    •C (common) hook this up to you power (either + or - depending on how you wired your shit), the power you plan to use for your accessory
    NC and NO (people already said what they mean but simply connecting to NC means power is passing thru the switch as if it weren’t there (like you went direct from power) BUT pushing the button will disconnect it. NO is like not having power to your accessory until you push the button (opposite of NC). Does that make some sense?

    Here's my situation. I'm trying to connect one of these Halo switches in my car using a fuse tap, which will power a led strip when the button is pressed. I would like the halo light to be off when not using but then on when pressed. How do I connect my wires from the fuse tap, to the halo switch, to the led strip?

  • @7kelevra
    @7kelevra 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey man helpful video but still lost! I have a live and a negative on from the car and a live and negative on the led strip... So 4 wires in total... Where do they all go? Power from the van in the bottom and middle? Negative from the van on the right and the lights on the left?

    • @Duwop77
      @Duwop77  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's correct. But whatever it is your trying to activate, I'm assuming its your lights? Goes to the lower center prong. Which is the accessories prong😁👍

    Thanks for the video!! I need help wiring these 4 pin leds to the same switch. I got it to light up with a drill battery charger through the switch but they stay on. How do I wire the 4 wires I have coming from the leds to the switch and only have them come on and off when I press the switch. I have the exact same switch as you. Thank you bro!!

    • @Duwop77
      @Duwop77  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The four wires coming from the leds more than likely are 2 grounds and 2 power? I'm assuming without actually seeing it. But take the 2 grounds and ground them to clean unpainted metal. And the 2 power wires I would twist together and connect to the accessory prong on the switch that is the 3rd prong from the top. And if you wired the switch correctly how I showed in the video. It should turn on the LEDs once the switch is pressed. Thanks for watching 😁👍

    If so would you need to feed it additional power for the led?
