In Japan, I play "一五一会"(ichigoichie) invented by the band BEGIN from Okinawa and the guitar manufacturer K.Yairi, with the concept as "mixture of sanshin of Okinawa and guitar in the Western world." It has the tuning as GDgd or FCfc, or some with root and fifth... just same as Ruan! The inventors may not know the ruan, but I realized the similarity, so I often watch the videos of Ruan so that I will find the way to develop my Ichigoichie!
