I don't know why, but I always get emotional when watching some of her episodes, it probably because I used to watch this all the time when I was a kid and it brings back so many memories

@@markparkinson8529 They had 2. The first Pippin died in 1997, and the 2nd which was the first one’s grandson died in 2008.
The first one was only able to do one series until they deemed her too old and unfit.
Aunt Mabel has entertained 2 generations of children and will bring joy and knowledge to many more whose parent will show it to thier children

Same with Haringey council, there’s one across the road from me they installed a light a year ago, and it’s still not switched on, only thing it did do was cause a 24 hour power cut

Its not going to be long until this is out dated. They are wiping out all these lanterns now and by the time the next generation grow up and watch this they wont be changing the lamps cos all this new LED rubbish is built into the fittings

Man i miss seeing these old low pressure sodium streetlamps we only just had them replaced on my street by new LED lights last month
yeah its a real shame but at this point councils have no choice when the lamps blow as they have not been made for nearly 4 years.
@@FinlaysFireSystemsElectrical ive heard these street lamps can cause damage to eyesight, i have a streetlamp right outside my house and since my street has been recently fitted with new led lamps, it just shines this terrible white light in my room now. But yeah, it's a shame the sodium lamps have stopped production now

I remember watching this episode over and over again when I was about 3 or 4 years old. This was my favorite episode of Come Outside, and I can still remember watching every bit of this episode. Thanks for uploading this as it gives me good memories of when I was a young kid.

Not only does this bring back memories it also shows how much better work was then. This is barely 20 years ago and the guy is wearing no over the top protective gear. He doesn't need to be seen up there in a stupid high viz coat because he's ABOVE the risk! He doesn't need stupid gloves so he can't feel anything and drops the lamp. Possibly a hard hat, but then again you'd be a numpty to fall from there.

Before the electric lamps, there were gas lamps and now the electric lamps.
I wish that everywhere was like this like power companies and or city departments or whoever is in charge of repairing street lights were like this shown here in the video that the minute you call them they show up the same day. Just like Auntie Mabel did in the video.

It was the old light bulbs are yellow, red and orange and now the led light bulbs are white and it's better for the environment.
I think I saw Sensor Lamp Posts in our part of the world.
Mad that when I was a kid I watched come outside and now I'm an adult and I watch come Inside.
The good old days of the golden glowing street lights, now replaced with horrid LED ones.

I noticed that this episode stopped being repeated from November 2007 on CBeebies 5 years before they axed. They were other episodes that weren’t repeated in later years such as Crisps and Stones, wonder when they last broadcasted them.
Damn. I have a very clear memory of her pushing the button to test it. Now I can see the guy just covered it with something. My whole life has been a lie.

What "button" would that be? And why would there be an external button on a streetlight exposed to the weather and birds?
The nobbly things on top of the posts at about 5:57. I just seem to remember her pressing it down. Maybe it would be a hard button to press, maybe it would need a certain amount of force to be pushed. Something so that birds would not be heavy enough to trigger it. Listen, I was about 7. ish? lol.
So she can land her plane in her bloody garden but I can't park my car on my neighbours drive when the cement truck is coming -.-
