Wow how cool was that! 56 now born at kaiser Hayward we lived in Fremont and always went to Hayward as a kid for everything. Flash back to things I forgot! Thank🤘
I grew up in Hayward, graduated from Hayward High in '88. A bunch of those signs brought back a lot of memories, including Holiday Bowl, Caspers, and the Shasta bottling plant. I liked the interior shot of the Hayward Plunge. So many things have changed, and so many people gone - thanks for the memories!
I had also grown up in Hayward and I had went to Sunset High School. The clips of Vic Hubbard that you posted especially with one the roadster cars in the magazine, that was my great-uncles roadster car and my family were very good friends with them and they were more like family. Especially where his shop was at and a lot of the businesses around that area had known my family because of my aunt Connie Del Rio and my uncle Domingo Valin who was a boxer back in the day and they were known by a lot of people in Hayward, Castro Valley, San Leandro and Oakland. I didn't know about it until my grandpa had died back in 1980 and I was 10 years old when I had found out about the family and I thought it was cool to live there and because there was a lot of history there, and I had my memories there.
Hey, I graduated from Sunset High in 1977. Yeah Hayward is a Great City. I live in Louisiana now, but go back to visit Hayward when I can. For sure Hayward is different 31 years later.
