Learn how the world of Noughts + Crosses was made through amazing costume and set design.
Noughts + Crosses. A new series based on Malorie Blackman’s award-winning book series. Starring Jack Rowan as Callum McGregor and Masali Baduza as Sephy Hadley.
Coming to BBC One on the 5th of March at 9pm, with all episodes available for streaming on BBC iPlayer immediately afterwards.
Mammoth Screen is producing this gripping story of first love in a dangerous, alternate world where racism divides society. The six-part series is written by Toby Whithouse (Being Human), Lydia Adetunji (Riviera), Nathaniel Price (Tin Star) and Rachel De-Lahay (Kiri).
Noughts + Crosses follows two young people Sephy and Callum, who are divided by their colour but united by love. Sephy is a 'Cross', a member of the black ruling class and daughter of a prominent politician. Callum is a 'Nought', a white member of the underclass. The two have been friends since early childhood but their relationship grows ever more complicated as they come of age. It's the story of two families separated by power and prejudice but forever entwined by fate.
Bafta Cymru winner Jack Rowan (Peaky Blinders, Born to Kill) will play Callum McGregor and newcomer Masali Baduza has been cast as Sephy Hadley.
Paterson Joseph (Timeless, Peep Show) plays Sephy's father, the Home Secretary Kamal Hadley, Bonnie Mbuli (Invictus, Wallander) plays her mother Jasmine and her sister Minerva is played by Kike Brimah (Love Type D).
Helen Baxendale (Cold Feet, Cuckoo) and Ian Hart (The Last Kingdom, The Secret Agent) play Callum's parents Meggie and Ryan and Josh Dylan (Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again, The Little Stranger) will play his older brother Jude.
Shaun Dingwall (Goodbye Christopher Robin, The Long Firm) plays Liberation Militia leader Dorn. The cast also features Jonathan Ajayi and Rakie Ayola (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, No Offence).

This show should be on Netflix cuz it’s amazing
I know right, it's amazing
HBO is cool too
I want it to be on Netflix too because I get it anywhere else
So true❤
Agreed. It's sad how few people know about it, especially in America.
The fashion, the hairstyle. Gosh, I can't wait for season 2.
Dima Damayanti have they confirmed a season 2?!
Alice Evans once the corona is over I’m hopeful. I also think it would be BIG in America :)
Season 2 starts April 25th 2022
This is what I was impressed with the most. It deliberately mimics the intention of Europeans in times past to entrench their culture into the minds of the Africans. Of course in this context, it’s flipped on its head, so the content is different. The nuances of the Noughts wearing Afro style hairstyles further pushes the message of superiority the Crosses have over the Noughts. They really impressed me! 😍
The whole attention to detail of this world was absolutely fantastic. The art and wardrobe departments deserve praise for their very considerate work that's on par with Black Panther's Ruth E.Carter and Hannah Bleachler.
Just to mention I loved how the midsummer festival harked back to gaelic/pagan roots which often gets passed off as quirkiness and "hippy" often by a lot of brits these days. I kind of hope some who are watching realise that UK roots are more than tea and royalty and how important the ancient culture would be if the colonial roles were reversed (mirroring the notting hill carnival). Really enjoyed this series thank you Malorie Blackman and BBC :)
This show is really bringing out the true colours of racist people in the UK. Also if you truly think that this is anti-white then you have no understanding of the concept of the show and really need to sit down and read more. This show is a fictional Romeo and Juliet like love story between two people that is for 12 year olds to read. if anything its far from anti-white because you feel upset and root for the nought (white) characters. Only reason why people are so triggered by this made up show is because they can't stand the idea of seeing white people as the repressed and minority group in society, even if it just all fake. (but don't say anything when a T.V show shows what life would be like if the Nazis won the war) watching the show it made me angry and upset that people can be treated like this just because of the colour of their skin (sound familiar), a factor that they themselves cannot change. By flipping it on its head for more people to understand what its like, really shows that the concept of racism is stupid and ridiculous. now if this show makes you angry for any other reason than what I've just said then maybe you should ask yourself why.
Preach. You said everything 🙏🏿🙏🏿
purplefashion03 you want the whole world to look like SA or Zimbabwe? lol
Thank u for ripping off the veil to speak some 'inconvenient truths'!🖤🙏🏾☯️
The show betrays in reverse of what life was like and still is in many ways for people of Color
They put a lot of work into the costume and set design, it looks great.
nothing but beautiful clothing beautiful hairstyles beautiful cultures and beautifully done. i CANNOT wait for season 2 !!
This show is AMAZING!!!! Please give us season 2 !!!
There were so much thought in this show, even the slightest details. I really enjoyed the show. I also really liked the soundtrack, I never listen to African music but I found it very beautiful
Best show EVEEEEEEEEEEEERR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CANT WAIT FOR SEASON TWO.
I AM SO EXCITED FOR SEASON 2 YOU GUYS, BEST SHOW EVERRRR
Groundbreaking show❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️! I’ve binged watched all 6 episodes. It is thought provoking and questions our society, issues of racial segregation, class and love.
Darren Scott this show was made for people like you, you should give it a try
I'm a white guy & I love black women they are beautiful. Little Normani proves how beautiful they are.
@Darren Scott who are you to dictate where people belong and aren't in place. That's interesting especially considering how white people are the cause of international intergration. As soon as your ancestors learnt how to build a ship you've been jumoing around from place to place claiming territory that you were never welcomed on. Times have changed but things still stay the same. Blame your forefathers for inspiring and causing this issue you're complaining about.
@Darren Scott -The same Explorers who travelled the world looking for things to steal and ways to force their presence on those who were unlucky enough to meet them. -England is a nation that definetly benefitted from the exploitation of Black people.
-I understand your point and Agree with it to some extent but as a tourist/a migrant wouldn't you like to be accepted by the community you've moved to. Yes, People should be able to adjust and adapt to new surroundings but, without having to completely disregard their orginal Identity. And people aren't asking for individual needs, these things will help a larger community of people who are in a similar situation, it's pity you aren't looking at the bigger picture.
The dressing code is on point actually am eagerly waiting for season 2
If they started a clothing line based on the show, I would deffo buy!💚💃🏽😁
Incredible!!!! I need more series lmao
i just need a season two pleaseeeeeeeee
The Hateration in these comments are astounding. Over fiction. Triggered much?
Loved this show and all the details they included. Kudos to everyone who worked on it 👏
I went shopping for it online, couldn't find anything as stylish from the show. I need help.
Try Nigerian fashion designers like Zinkata, Lisa Folawiyo and Nkwo.
@@chymdii oh...thank you. They are very talented. Do they design for men , I couldn't find their design.
Why isn't this show on Netflix?
If you think this show is anti-white then what do you think about the current world we live in
so so good
can we talk about the orange look @1:03
It's a crying shame, that with all the accomplished, current, young African / Caribbean designers in the world ( take a look at Lagos Fashion Fair, Caribbean Fashion Week, Nairobi Fashion Week, AFWLondon) ; the BBC chose to employ / consult an Afrikaans baby boomer female for the role... 🙄 I wonder what her day rate was ?
Why did he say highlife Nigerian? Every historian will tell you it's Ghanaian. Excited to watch the show, but the fashion they keep talking about is being done already lol its not anything new. We have many African designers creating these looks and beyond.
The Highlife clothing is nigerian for the most part bu they do pull from other areas of the continent.
@@IEXECUTIVE no they have the exact same styles in Ghana as well Africa is not only Nigeria 🇬🇭🇬🇭
Where can I get this movie gosh 🥺
Y DID HE ONLY HIGHLIGHT NIGIRIA WHEN GHANA HAS THE EXACT SAME STYLE AND WE DID IT FIRST 🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭😒
I know. I don’t like how he was making it seem as if it was all just Nigerian fashion
Season 1 was so amazing.. We need season 2 in the USA on Peacock!! 🦚🍿🍾
For an african empire, not a lot of north africans..... I do appreciate the FALs
Obviously because Britain wasn’t invaded by North Africans in this universe it was invaded by a different part of Africa
That already happened in Europe -
done by the Moors
Love the concept of this show and the way it demonstrates the arbitrariness of racial superiority.
Por favor, não pode traduzir para o português no TH-cam?
A série tradução em português
Isn't this kind of missing the point of the book lol!
So glad I don't pay my TV license haha
And yet you would pay taxes to the royal family like a snivelling peasant? Well done you.
@@interestedobserver big assumption... besides we literally have no choice when it comes to tax.
🤩😍👍🏾👌🏾💯🖤
Hair cuts, food , fashion ,,,,,,,, anything else?
No inventions , nothing important , just shiny haircuts , shiny uniforms to cover up black of reality, storyline .
It’s a T.V show. It’s not that serious🤣
Watched 1st one,don,t like.
Heidi Stinton we are entitled to our opinions xx
@Anglus Patria why do you think so?
What is the point of this anti-white show. It really confuses me.
how is this show anti-white? if your offended by this im worried for you.
its very evident you haven't even watched the show lmao yikes
go watch it, first!
@@youkcaralifestyle1617 It would be stupid of me if I haven't watched it. I have, but this fantasy is silly to watch.
How is this anti white...
