Waco UPF-7 Open Cockpit Trainer at 23:20. Restored over 20 years in AZ by my father-in-law. The final rivet was forged using grandma's gold-fillings.

Tom & Miles are great together. They should have a YT channel about everything aviation. Explain stuff. Crack jokes. Banter. I would subscribe immediately.

Seems appropriate because much of the GA fleet is 85 years old :)
We could celebrate it with a concerted effort to rejuvenate the fleet and bring it up to technological speed. Nasa offered 100 million for bringing small jet engines to the GA fleet in the 90s which Williams fumbled and we only got slightly lighter private jets that are today 3+million each. Indeed same price as when the project started. But the potential remains for small turbofan planes that could be vastly lower cost yet have real speed and range. Much lower price point than a Cirrus SR22T while going double speed with better fuel economy. And this could have been done in 1960.

This is presented as a huge WIN, but Sorry, I see it as a loss!! Years ago I used to fly my 172 and then my Bonanza into Washington National to spend the weekend in DC. Flying down the river, southbound on west side of river, northbound on east side of river was normal VFR traffic. We flew closely past the Washington monument, the Pentagon and White House regularly, VFR with no flight plan even filed.
So to call this a "win because F-15 fighters would normally be after you" is to accept a post free America as something glorious. The fact AOPA had to jump through hoops to make this possible, should be a crime in itself. Bureaucrats have slowly taken away our airspace and whittled it down more and more over the years limiting our rights to fly over our own nation. And that's wrong. I'm glad to be old enough to remember flying freely over Washington DC, able to see all the sites at low altitude, without even filing a flight plan. Its a shame and a crime, today's pilots can't enjoy the same freedom of flight.

Sounds like you’re old enough to remember 9/11(never forget why there are restrictions now) and probably both presidential assassinations!👀 You confirm here that you were NOT free, willy-nilly flying all over D.C’s restricted zone, VA, and MD as you please while shutting down airspace AND air traffic in and out of DCA! That was basically a public airshow and it’s a win for the generation that has never seen a coordinated effort over the Capitol.
      Go fly a kite!

Time to STOP treating these elected public employees like royalty. Disband all VIP TFRs and Prohibited Areas. They deserved the same rights and protections as other American citizens. And no more than that.

Was able to watch it live from a rooftop on the Potomac! It was extra cool to see commercial airplanes coming down the flight path since DCA was shut down for an hour. A lot of coordination by bunch of people. Well done!

Click the white triangle that is pointed right on the video player. If that doesn't work, you have a computer or internet problem.

Hi Tom, I'm a computer security specialist. If I have trouble than there are others who can't view the flyover. Sorry I missed it. Thanks for your suggestions. There is no white triangle. All I got was a ten minute preview.

WHY with all the security state bootlicking? And why mentioning it over and over and over you can’t show this and you can’t show that? Don’t you think everything anyone wants to know about DC rooftops is already on Google Earth in higher resolution than whatever you’ve mounted on the planes?
