Let's see, they butchered:
-Yusuke's trials to earn his second chance. The live action handing it on a silver platter to yusuke completely misses the point of that trial
-Yusuke's resurrection which is actually emotional in the anime
- Yusuke not being able to use a spirit gun right away. He was actually fuccing natural on spirit waves
- Yusuke fighting a mini tournament to chase down rando. Thus earning his chance to train with genkai.
- His training with genkai was also ruined
- Completely skipping the four beasts arc which showed Yusuke's growth as spirit detective
- Completely butchering the dark tournament, which btw is the best tournament on any fuccing shounen.
- Yusuke's actor being wooden and trying to be edgy and stoic. Yusuke can be a goofball and funny most of the time. That's the part of his charm
- Yusuke's final trial with genkai, butchered again. Like come on, yusuke overcoming that trial was him fully growing a spine and showing maturity
-Since they fucced up the dark tournament arc, they couldn't show Toguro making Yusuke sh*t his pants. This was a very important scene cause it forces yusuke to grow up and train hard cause lives are at stake here. Plus this was the first time in his life he felt genuine fear and awe at someone's power.
-They fucced up Hiei's background story. He lost his Harui stone which is another reason why he sought out Shigure for the jagan eye
-Genkai demonstrating her mastery over the spirit waves is such a treat in the anime. The moment she showed her own spirit gun to yusuke was epic asf. Too bad, netflix butchered it too
-They fucced up Toguro's final battle with genkai and yusuke's reaction over it.
-Completely fuccing up that iconic scene where yusuke uses his new spirit gun as dedication to genkai
Seriously, fucc this adaptation. Whoever is behind this abomination should get slapped for the lack of respect to the source material.
When will the people making these adaptations learn that most fans want as close to a live action 1:1 of an arc or portion of the story as possible? Its already in video format just do it again with real people. If the budget is low limit the cgi use. Why do they constantly try to shove as much of an entire anime as they can into a few hours or episodes? These franchises have fans that will go out and see the shit thats made for it but if you just keep changing things in order to fit a budget or time limit you end up with a ruined product that nobody will enjoy. This is a lesson these idiots fail to learn over and over. This was being filmed as cowboy bebop was releasing. Id be surprised if things like budget and episodes werent cut for yyh because of the absolute failure that bebop was. And this failing as hard as it deserves to we likely wont see more of it, i hope. This was just dragon ball evolution or netfilx's deathnote all over again.
problem as I see it was a lack of faith in the story, it was done like they didn't believe they could get 2 seasons and decided to cram there favourite fights into the film no matter what needed to be cut or rewritten
Agreed this is trash. Netflix fucked up.
That's okay, a lot of people like to watch trash
I stopped paying attention after the first episode. Skimmed up until when I saw genkai giving yusuke the spirit orb, then stopped.Felt like an entire gimmick. Watching it was like watching a low budget cosplay rendition. Even seeing elder toguro’s face with bad CGI. I understand there’s budgeting, but the mediocrity is insane.
RUSHED!!!! So busy trying to go after One Piece Netflix adaptation fame they forgot pacing, storyline and character development.
This was made before one piece
@@Damnitgary Regardless. One Piece was better produced
@@Damnitgarywhich is too bad as they would have learned a thing or two.
Yes man
They didn’t make it with pure heart
Its way short
There is no emotion in any episode
I can forgive a lot of the changes that were made in the first 2 episodes, but the from the 3rd to the end was unforgivable. The action was top notch (probably the best in LA so far), but the story was absolute trash. Season 1 should've ended with Rando. S2 the Saint Beasts and Saving Yukina. S3 a proper Dark Tournament.
Sadly it seems everyone who liked it only cared about the action, and YYH was so much more than an action manga/anime (which is why everyone liked it so much). It was a special anime that hit you with the feels when you least expected it and the LA doesn't capture that essence in the slightest....
I agree!!! Feels very half assed. The actors seem like they dont know what to do during a few scenes and improvise poorly. Very cliche live action character movement. The first episode was OKAY then it went down hill. Kurama? Too bland. Hiei not as cool just more creepy. I dont mind them changing things but to change things that make it feel like theyre rushing is a no. And i cant get over the fact that yusuke doesnt look like yusuke 😂. I really really like the one piece live action. Ghost files is in my top three and but this live action is a no.
Genkai's training had 0 weight though. It didn't even have the cave lol
If you actually seen the whole yu yu hakusho anime you know the Netflix live action is hot trash!!! They rushed everything and how could they not explain the dark tournament! 😭.. the people who like the live action probably haven’t seen the anime!!! They really dropped the ball with this one 🗑️
I agree I don’t trust Hollywood What happened to my favorite series? Dragon Ball Z live action AKA, dragon Ball, evolution worst movie ever made. It’s up there Batman, and Robin. My Hollywood can’t handle cartoon movies and video games, movies
Respect your opinion, brotha, I too have also watched the anime and found this to be entertaining. Did it skip arcs in favor of introducing characters early, 100%. But that is expected when an adaption. But for what they did, I enjoyed it and hoping for season 2.
I can let go bad cgi and being cheesy But I will agree it's hard to watch when the show trying squeeze all the storyline into 1
i was let down after coming off the high of what they did with one piece ....this one miss the mark...i will say the action scenes were good...but like you this is in my top 5 fav amines and it didnt do it justice
The guy who wanted genkai's power was the demon named Rando 💯
dark tournament had some really memorable characters and they removed it.
They didn't even build up how strong Toguro and his team was lolllll come on.
They rushed the Dark Tournament arc? That's what I was afraid of...
This all sounds terrible, I still need to see it myself to judge it, but now I have low expectations.
The first fight was not that good, it’s draggy and overacted. But episode 2 to 5 are very good. The fights were way better than expected. However, the dialogue is a bit repetitive from episode 3-5, but it’s forgivable.
I expect nothing from the show but somehow the acting is really good. The storyline is good too but I have the feeling that they skip stuff but what do you expect from 5 episodes of the whole anime?
It's pretty corny and cheesy too because I guess they wanted it to be like a typical shonen, just like the anime. They should have made it longer.
Man I don't care what people say but I loved this show sure it was only 5 episodes and somethings were changed but they had to in order to fit it all in 5 episodes the fight scenes were good I hope this show does well so we can get more seasons but longer ones but it all depends on the fans also I'm just excited to finally get something new for Yu Yu Hakusho it's been a really long time since the show ended.
More? We already missed A LOT of the greatest parts..they skipped the "power ups and growth stages " during those fights then too...Like for instance..they already spoiled the Silver Fox..that was Kuramas step up."way later at the end of one of the tournaments" ..They skipped em..so I doubt they'll flash back..but going forward..everything will have to be diffrent because of how it started. Fans aren't getting the story the grew up with...I'm on the side of its 🗑️..
Wtf are you smoking? If you liked this show, you must be really high. Tell me what you're smoking, because it seems like some really good stuff
Action is solid acting is solid! My main criticism is 5 episodes doing an abridged Dark Tournament that’s crazy lmao 😂 I liked the show but damn . Once I think about even bleach live action was a condensed abridged version of that
It's hard for me to trust Netflix with their American live action adaptations after they fucked up Cowboy Bebop and Death Note. Though, I heard the One Piece adaptation was pretty good, maybe I might see that, but I don't care to see the Netflix Yu Yu Hakusho series.
Anime live action produced by netflix is a waste of time
Netflix was like: "Speedrun time"
It wasn't bad. Decent based on the material its based on. Loved the anime and I wasn't expecting a condensed miniseries to be great but it was good for what it was. Just wished it was longer, to build the characters and emotions so it wouldn't feel like they are rushing storylines.
Exactly
It was very bad but the graphics was crazy 🔥 but I feel like they rushed it if they would’ve took their time it would’ve came out right just hope season two is different
One of the best written anime of all time. the live action didn’t do no justice 🤦🏻♂️
It was nice to watch having seen the original. The casting was good. Agreed it was mega mega rushed.
Same team with 8 episodes and just given the task of detective arc would’ve been better.
Wouldn’t recommend if you have seen the anime. The character development just isn’t there
He speaking 100% Factz!!
They needed more episodes. There was not enough space for story. But for entertaintment? It was good to me.
I saw it twice already the live-action one and honestly inspired me to re-watch OG yu yu hakusho and yeah no I don't hate to live action adaption it could have been a hell of a lot better but yeah no damn yu yu Hakusho is a phenomenal anime
Was only able to watch half an episode today. Maybe I’ll try again tomorrow
I have to disagree wholeheartedly on this take Robert
well good for you
I respect your opinion but I strongly disagree, this is my favorite anime of all time and while it was rushed and some things were missed with the character traits with it only being 5 episodes but the little development we do get is very accurate to the anime and the effects to me were incredible
You are right about Kuwabara though. Him not having that Pompadour hairstyle it just trash lmao especially since its a real hairstyle.
Man I think the guy is just hating the show for views, first episode is one of the best episodes don’t watch him, just go and watch the show
It's my opinion son! not my fault you enjoy crap
Matured but cant separate anime from live action. That was a great 1st episode
Well it's true the live action is trash though fight scene is good..
I don't think so... It feels half assed. And I'm on the third episode.
@@RobertStorms84Yeah, it's your wrong opinion
I watched all five episodes I thought it was a pretty good show, and I didn't really know there was an anime behind it. I mean your criticism is out of line but, pretty genuine about it. Which is respectable, and you're not just saying that it's for your garbage just because you saw it. But for me, I look forward for season 2. You can disagree on me with that, but I stand on where this is. Anyways that's all I have to say for now ; thank you to anyone for reading.
Imagine how much better it would've been had they been more faithful to the source. The action was top notch, and CGI decent, but the story was absolute trash. I highly doubt it'll get a season 2 (and hope it doesn't).
Dark tournament (which they crammed into this show) was the peak of YYH. Chapter Black was really good too but not as well received as Dark Tournament, and 3 Kings is arguably the worst arc. If they didn't have enough faith to do the best arc justice, I highly doubt they have any desire to cover the next two arcs.
Was it good? Yes and No
Did I enjoy it? Yes
Is the anime way better than this? Absolutely yes
Was it awful? Absolutely not
I think the show is alright I mean they did rush the show a lot put I still think they could I've done it better.
The only thing i enjoyed in the show was when yusuke dropped kick kuwabara in the first episode. Other than that the show was completely horrible.
Oh boy oh boy.
Haven't seen it but regardless I'm waiting for the greatest villain to come, SENSUI,I hope it doesn't get cancelled.
Not a fan film its more of an anti fan film
Apparently One Piece live action was solid.
never watched the anime
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it 30 episodes, not 25
What are you talking about? I was only guessing how many episodes. I don't know the exact number. I have a life
Lol, me too, lol
I was wrong, Yusuke and Kuabara ( I hope I spelled their names right ). First, meet the Tagoro brothers ( I hope I'm spelling their name right ) towards the end of episode 24 and fight them in episode 25. My apologies.
It debuted on Adult Swim, not Toonami.
Are you going to talk about the new photos they just dropped for avatar the last airbender live action
From what I've seen so far from the upcoming Avatar adaptation it's going to be another one piece adaptation and not another Yu Yu Hakusho adaptation.
How about watching the full series before reviewing it.
You know who's the Trush one I think you😅😅😅😅
love the anime it has so much heart and the soundtrack was just awesome for that show
It's his opinion. We can't do anything about it. I disagree with his opinions though. 😊
Bro you literally skipped and never talked about One Piece Live Action at all. I'm shocked you even decided to talk about Yu Yu. 😮
Because I didn't watch One peece Live Action. I never seen the Anime so why would I watch the Live action. I didn't skip anything, I am just not a fan of it
@@RobertStorms84 Okay. A good anime live action though. Not the best but.. it's good. 👍
@@The_GrimwriterTotally The maker's of the one piece live action actually knew the difference between adaptation changes and plain gutting of story.
Just watched it and.....yeah☠️
Those are my top 3 too ❤❤❤❤❤
Agreed 100 percent
From start to finish it's all hot garbage
Rob I liked it
Nah this show was fire 🔥
Live actions usually make you realize how stupid the anime plot is… that’s the problem Netflix keeps bumping into just leave us with the anime and our suspension of disbelief.
I noticed from these people saying the live actions is bad have somethings in common, they LOVE overhyped boring animes and when they watch quality anime they say it sucks. They are straight up the weird kid in your childhood that who's so weird and act spoiled.
Especially when they say Yusuke is boring, hate to break it to you kids it's anime they would over exaggerate the character to make it come to life. When you do this to a real person it would look annoying like ya'll.
Oh wait yeah, I noticed most of them are Americans.
What I noticed about the people who like this adaptation is they don't care about story whatsoever as long as the action's good the rest of it has to be good as far as their concerned.
@@wraithflaire1639 damn looks like someone didn't like how they humanized the characters and how they connected a lot of stuffs which is hard to do and impressive. But obv you gotta hate it and don't even bother understarding what you're watching or you're just that blind.
One piece live action is good if u haven’t seen it
I never watched the anime
I haven’t watched the anime either but I enjoyed the live action as a stand-alone show
@@RobertStorms84 bro you probably typed this comment a thousand times 😭🤣💯. But I get it
I respect ur opinion bro but if u really think about and I’ve come to a realization that of course they have to make the live action adaptations different from the anime because if they make just like the original show we’ll know what to expect so I personally don’t mind some of the changes was perfect? No but it was still enjoyable the fight scenes were awesome its still a good show in its own right but like I said I respect ur opinion
Even if you judged it on it's own, the live action falls short from a story standpoint. The storytelling doesn't do nearly enough make you care about the characters, and Yusuke's character is TOLD to us instead of being SHOWN. Also because they chose to meld multiple arcs together, the plot is a mess. This story would make no sense to ANYONE who didn't read the manga or watch the anime. The live action is entertaining when you ignore the story part of it and focus on the fights, but entertaining does not equal good from a literary prospective.
Because if a story falls apart by thinking about it longer than 5 seconds, then it fails. Everyone has at least one or two characters they like, but could not tell you their narrative strengths(or lack thereof)to save their lives.
This is also true in the reverse where characters get absurd amounts of hate despite being solid characters. The tragically illiterate audience(specifically the west)never ask why characters are written in such a manner, or even if a character was ever meant to be likable as a person to begin with. And because of this, many characters are denied their due respect. It'd be different if the live action was merely trying to be senseless fun, but it actually attempts to be serious, which is why it fails miserably.
There is a difference between adaptation changes and gutting 85% of the story. What They have given us is gutting.
Man when a classic aint broken just dont touch it yes this is a good show for a first intruduction to yu yu hakusho but they had major information missing out in this live action
Everyone has to whine about something... for NO reason...
And only watched one episode? so you didnt watch the rest? so you have no idea what you're talking about!!!
.
I've loved YYH since 1997, and even I enjoyed this adaptation, (apart from the wigs) once you know where they are going with the story and what they missed out... and sorry, but the start of yyh is kinda boring till Kurama & Hiei come into it.
I thought it was made by people who love YYH and wanted to do the best they could, and tbh, they did (apart from the wigs)
And the music... so you missed out the fact the truck driver who ran Yusuke over was playing the original theme song from the anime... shows how much u paid attention.
I watched the entire thing and all the gist of the problems he described carry on to the rest of the show.
It’s actually good
It was barely serviceable.
hahahahahahahaha
I liked it Rob. I think they did a good job making it live action. The acting was good, the action was really good and of course the CGI was tv budget.
Im glad you enjoyed it
I too enjoy the action and the CGI was serviceable but in the end it's storytelling was an hack job of epic proportions. Which is why I give it a thumbs down on Netflix.
I don't get all the hate, as a guy that's never seen the anime series I thoroughly enjoyed the Netflix adaptation. Obviously some things were compressed to move the story along and maybe they needed more character development which will most likely happen in season 2 with more episodes. The fight scenes were pretty good, I laughed a few times at scenes that were meant to be funny and I was cheering on the good guys. Marvel and DC movies will never reach that potential.
Season 2?
😂 There's not going to be a season 2. And if by some twist of fate it does get one how many arcs do you think they are going to cram into it? Another five? When are they going to find the time to improve the character development?
i love it , its was entertaining for me
edit : 7.5/10
Everyone is enjoying it but there’s always one of these guys that just wants attention by being negative
No not everyone enjoyed it.
.. BLAH 3x 😂!
