There are some issues Neville. You will see a few in a later video. My track laying and ballasting is not really up to scratch. But I've learnt a lot with this all the same.
Hi Simon, The image you project on video is absolutely brilliant. Obviously if you're there in the room you have time to stop and stare. You will know how it all developed and what went well. It looks great I would be proud to be able to do something like that. I particularly like the white cliffs in the corners, the good loading platform and the canal. Less so the church and the road metaling. The impromptu pond, top marks!! You will be able to iron out all the details when you move up into the loft!! All this in about a year, a big well done. All the best
Helo David, I think this was a good learning experience for me. If I do go in the attic this will have to go. I need everything on it and the timber. One thought that keeps crossing my mind is how easy will it be to get into the loft when I'm 70? Hmmmmm That's one of the reasons I'm getting rid of the junk up there now.
@@ngaugeonashelf4417 Well you look in good form so 70 won't be a problem. My Dad stopped going up in his loft in the last few years well into his eighties. We've dismantled the 00 gauge and the 0 gauge is next, still lots of junk up there some of it mine some of it my sisters etc etc. I forget the name of the channel but there was someone who built his in the basement of the kitchen, not a cellar really or and not even enough spave to stand up, fantastic layout too!! Modern houses down here don't have lofts so that rules that one out for me All the best
@@davidberlanny3308 Taking it down when I can't get up there will have to be someone else's problem. Or just leave it and sell it with the house. I saw that video too. Not much head room if I remember correctly. I would have bumps galore going down there, mind you, my attic does not have a lot of head room either. Tomorrow is Ron day for a long walk somewhere. I always look forward to fridays.
Hi Simon, there is so much hard work gone into that layout, it all looks fine to me. I guess from the number of times you mentioned the lack of space that you are hoping your good lady will see this one. Good luck. Ron
You know what it's like Ron. You have wants and needs and that has to marry up with finance. Apparently we don't have enough money to rebuild all the branch lines into the Forest of Dean. Shame that. I know a chap who knows where all the bridges and tunnels are who could help out!
It was a lot of work Pete. Perhaps it could of been a little better in places. Of course you learn by doing and sometimes you learn things the hard way.
Greetings Simon 👋 Excellent appraisal of the trials of an N Gauge Modeller 👏👏👏 You should be very proud of what you achieved 🤩 it looks fantastic and gives you joy 😁 so that's the main thing 😇 As they say, "a layout is never finished" 🤭 so I'm sure you will continue to refine those area's that your less happy with 👍 Very best wishes from the Emerald Isle ☘️
I wish I could do something about the back scene but that is impossible now. I'm going to try dribbling some glue down the bubbles and see if I can make it stick. Cheers I think eyesight and age have something to do with it also.
I borrowed a few ideas off other layouts. You spot something that looks good and you try and incorporate. I just wish I had more room. Certinaly make my slopes a lot better! Cheers
Cheers. It would of been nice to have more space which would of avoided a few problems. I wish I had ballasted better but I guess that is something you learn by making mistakes.
I think you are being a bit over self critical of yourself. If you get too critical, you won't enjoy so much? You have a lot in a smallish space but it still looks spacious and scenic from what we can see. You are pointing out things that no one else can see or notice ;-) Looks great!
Back scene is a nightmare but I'm going to try and fix that. I also have some track problems which will become apparent in a later video I'm editing now. I've learnt a lot though. Cheers
It looks fabulous! The work that you've put in on something so small in scale is extraordinary. I wouldn't have had the patience!!!

A Nice job Simon. A lot of work but well worth it.

Backscenes are notorious for bubbles 😪 best of luck with the dribbling ⚽️😉
@@Wickford_N_Gauge I'm nearly 60, I'm good at dribbling......
Good effort with a lot of imagination shown. Thanks for uploading.

Interesting observations, a dog bone configuration can help reduce the width of the layout except for the turn arounds.
Never thought of that. A bit late now 😂😂😂😂
