Personal game of the year for me is Elden Ring. The amount of content and not just thrown together content, but actually fleshed out and good content not locked behind some cut out dlc and the depth of combat is just incredible. Glad to see Stampy go through the other FromSoft games they are all groundbreaking, fun titles.
I bought a PS4 and Bloodborne at the start of the first lockdown. It taught me there's an entire floor above "exciting." Motivation fuelled by frustration, recklessness spurred by fear, apprehension at every door and dancing a bossfight. Next outbreak, I'm buying a PS5! edit: oh, and Dwarf Fortress is my 2022 game.
I realized everything Joe's saying about Elden Ring when he got obsessed with it, always thinking about it and watching lore videos and things - that was exactly me in 2017 playing and watching Breath of the Wild for the first time! But yeah, I've loved hearing your discussions on all these games, like Cuphead and Neon White - that FMV game sounds super interesting too!
Really interesting games this year! Personally my favourite game this year was actually Ooblets as I loved the art style and the story, I just got so obsessed. Also, good luck with the move, Oli!
Haha crazy how different our taste in games are. I absolutely love how satisfying the combat in GOW feels to me. I find the vast open world of games like elden ring and BOTW (even though I love BOTW) way too overwhelming at times and sometimes it feels like I’m roaming around without any purpose, I much prefer the linear path that games like GOW/ RDR2/ Ghost of Tsushima have when completing the main quest. Stamps mentioned he hated how he hated when Atreus would give away puzzles in the game but it really saved me a google search few times 😅. I also just love the companionship in GOW and TLOU, some of my favourite lines of dialog in Ragnarok don’t even come from cutscenes but the conversations that they were having while traversing. It really makes the game feel like a movie, I just love how the cutscenes flow right into the gameplay and roaming dialog, and how they git rid of all loading screens definitely- was my game of the year. Gonna have to try out a few of the games here that I haven’t played!
I am playing through God Of War: Ragnarok at the moment, straight after playing the 2018 one (only got a PlayStation last year, trying to catch up on exclusives). I am in love with the characters and story but I feel the combat just feels very similar to the original. Perhaps I am just not far enough through it yet, but I haven’t found the new mechanics are significant enough to make the combat more enjoyable for me, and for a game pretty heavily centred around combat I find that kind of important. Perhaps it doesn’t help I’ve played them back to back but it feels like not much has been developed gameplay-wise in the last four years. Graphically the game is beautiful, and as I’ve already mentioned the story is probably some of the best I’ve experienced in gaming (I’ve always like mythology, so maybe I’m biased). My opinions are similar to yours in that I feel the puzzles are also spoiled way too quickly. I am often trying to race against the companions to see if I can figure it out before they ruin it for me, and it just makes the breaks between combat sections even smaller. I have played a lot of great games last year, and this is still one of them, don’t get me wrong. Like Joe said, I cannot fault the production or the story! Thank you for reading my extensively long comment haha, great video as always!
I did exactly what Joe did with GOW Ragnarok, turned the difficulty down to the lowest difficulty just to get the game finished. It eventually just turned into me mashing attack until all the enemies were dead
I vastly enjoyed GOWR but I believe my love of the game comes solely from the characters and world. I feel like they could have gone so much farther with a literal god of war.

Such an amazing description for that style of game. I feel exactly the same. I wish I could have worded it as well as you did. - Joe
@@thebonuspoints Wait till you see the bossfight I was talking about... I really envy you for your first playthrough!

Citizen Sleeper is actually one of my favourite games too, very immersive and just loved the game play and choices it offers.

Agree with you on GoW. Played 2018 and it just felt very old school and really didn't get the hype. Haven't played Ragnarok.
Love the outfits today boys!

36:48 I don’t know if I feel disappointed or proud that Fortnite is number 1. Still love it though! My personal yearly fave is the lightsabers in it.

watching bonus points I realize that joe is actually pretty good at describing games, wonder if he’s ever thought about doing video game reviews
his first videos on the "stampylongnose" channel used to be game reviews but im not sure if he still has them up
