There's a small public beach at the end of Duval St (the quieter end). It's very close to the Southernmost Point. A block from there (heading back to the busy end of Duval) is the Key West Butterfly Conservancy. I consider this a must-do. They even have a pair of flamingos!. In season there's a free bus that circles Duval. You can pick it up on Whitehead St near where you'll disembark. It goes past the Hemingway House and the Key West lighthouse. It will stop at the Southernmost Point. Then it crosses Duval and makes its way back downtown on Simonton St. The bus stops every few blocks and you'll never be more than a block from Duval which is slightly over a mile long. It's a fun walk with lots of shops, restaurants and bars along the way. If you get tired of walking just go a block over to pick up the free bus. If you like Cuban food or want to try it for the first time grab a Lyft or Uber and go to El Siboney Restaurant for lunch. It's the best!

Number 1 is chocolate dipped key lime pie at kermits! Hopped on the free pink bus and went to southern most point then strolled back to Mallory square past Hemingway House then down Duval St. I'll be back in a month on our Disney Cruise😍

    Haven’t been to KW
    since 1998(!) but taking my
fiancée next year as part of a Holland cruise. Will be her first time there. Think we’ll get off the Veendam, take the Conch Train to Hemingway House, and see where we end up from there. I understand there is a Key West
Fire Dept museum. Would love to see that. A MUST DO for anyone there in the evening: Head to Mallory Square. Breathtaking sunset nightly, and scores of artists and street performers.
From the Old Days, some of my favorite bars and restaurants are:
    Sloppy Joe’s
    Hogsbreath Saloon
    Margaritaville
    Half Shell Raw Bar
Sadly will only be there 8 hours. Will squeeze in as much as we can.

Key west is an amazing destination that really requires multiple days to soak up the history and the culture. The sunsets are not to be missed and a visit to The Little White House is an awesome excursion!💚💚💚

Thanks for spinning Key West so positively! Another TH-cam channel couple talk negative about it and I don't get it. I want to stay at least a week there next time to see and do more!!

Omg. What a great review of one of my favorite cities. Other TH-camrs complain and totally miss the real KW by staying on the ship. 🙄

For key lime enthusiasts, you've got to visit Kermit's Key Lime Pie Shoppe!!🍈🍰 They have great, fresh key lime pie, and chocolate dipped too. They also have key lime hot sauce, key lime flavored coffee, chips, you name it!!🤩

Sheri - I just finished listening to Unplugged & I’m still Laughing Out Loud!!
Yes, I have been seated in the “coughing up a lung” section of many airplanes (or the bronchitis/pneumonia section) & generally it’s the person directly behind me (I even gave one young lady a cough drop) & I have gotten off a plane and ended up in the hospital for 3 days on IV antibiotics (not sure if it was Newark Airport or just my stay in New Jersey - but I encountered some wicked germs) - but now I am so much more careful - always have my hand sanitizer wipes & my special hand gel that kills 99.9% of viruses & bacteria & I might invest in a nice face mask!!
BTW - I can attest to the fact that Cheryl & Mike M. do stay healthy while enjoying their champagne - a lovely before dinner beverage!!
I’ve survived the Norovirus many years ago (1998) - and it did start on the plane - my friend Kathy was already sick as soon as we landed in Seattle & spent a night in bed before boarding the ship & then had a relapse while we were cruising & missed the helicopter to the glacier in Juneau! The ships dr said she had delayed seasickness!! There were 6 of us traveling together & 3 out of the 6 got sick - who knows why (I got sick the last night, right after the midnight buffet - and then felt like I was going to die in Vancouver)!
Also, I do love Key West & it’s a great port to visit while cruising!! Love the Key West vibe!
Thanks so much Sheri - you made my day!!

For naturalists, there is the James Audubon House and Museum. For fisherman, there is deep-sea fishing (take lots of sun-tan lotion). The old Truman Annex (yes the former President had a home there) has been turned into vacation rentals and a nice beach.
