This shows indian mentality of having a 'beta', kudos to the daughters who came to thier fathers rescue, feel for the father , even after goin thru so much he still feels for his eklauta 'beta'.
I would argue that the mentality is the same everywhere. It's just not as visible in some places and more visible in others. I live in Canada and here it is prevalent as well even in the workplace: "glass ceiling".
