Thanks for this. I am in the same boat as you where I am just starting out and now spotlight has a sale on overlockers and I don't know which one to get. Can the Brother sew heavy fabric too?

Iv been tossing up between the brother and singer too cos I'm buying one from spotlight and couldn't decide. Iv read many reviews. Basically they are both equal in quality and value. Singer can take more layers/thickness with its feature that brother doesn't have. Brother still serges heavy fabric like denim & comes with alot more stitches. Brother is perfect if you are new to serging/overlocking. Singer requires a bit of skill and learning. That's what I got from it.
