One of the best songs ever written. These guys flacking killed it here during this live performance. Thank you guys for this band's music. R.I.P. Eric...my condolences to your family and friends.
I was at UNC in the early 1970s and remember this absolutely rocking song playing at maximum volume on the DKE fraternity house juke box. The juke box was belting it out, people were screaming and all I could think about was being 20 years old, really being alive and having a great time. This song brings back some of the best memories of my entire life. Where has all that time gone? Those really were great days.
I lost my virginity to it in a farmers field as the sun set on Bell River Road in Oxford Mississippi in the back seat of a Buick Skylark. Perfect song.
I was 15 when this song played on the radio. I had no idea who Eric Carmen. I loved it then & still love it now. I could play this song over & over again & never get tired of it. Gone too soon. RIP Erid 😂❤
I think I wore this record out in 1972!... Couldn't get enough! LOL Now to be able to come to You Tube and see the live performances all the time, it's wonderful!
It's 10.30pm Tuesday night 12/03/2024 and I've just flicked the T.V. over to Ch 9 in Sydney. They were showing The Raspberries "Go all the Way" I thought "Why are they playing that?" "Is Eric touring soon?" Then I thought "Oh no he hasn't died" "Has he?" My fears were confirmed by the news voice over person. "Eric Carmen was 74" Now I can't stop crying. Not only did Eric help create one of the greatest, mind blowing Guitar riffs in Rock history, he then composed some of the most tasteful Ballads of all time. Good quality Ballads are extremely hard to write. Thanks for the great music and the brilliant singing voice Eric. Eric lived a successful existence and died peacefully in his sleep. "Come on Baby!!!" RIP - Eric Carmen Always in my heart
Raspberries had their own great sound, they didn't copy anybody, magnificent performance, great music & memories of life, solid gold standard of excellence
I disagree with that, there wore their influences, they spoke all the time how they wanted to sound like an American version of The Who or The Beatles.
I remember the first time I heard this on the radio, I heard the heavy power chord intro, and because it was 72, I expected some Robert Plant or Ozzy type scream vocal to follow, but then I heard that unreal voice of Eric Carmen, half Beatles half Beach Boys, and I was totally mesmerized, suddenly 1972 felt very much like 1964 again, and I bought all their singles and albums, listened to them way more than Zeppelin, and though they they broke up before I got to see them, I can still see them live on TH-cam, so rest in peace Eric, your music lives with us....
Grew up in the 70s in NY..we had one radio station that played everything from country, R&B to rock. So listened to this alot growing up..still love it! :-)
Fantastic performance of a fantastic song by a fantastic singer....Eric Carmen!!!!! Timeless and I dare anybody to try and sit still while listening to this song!!!! ♥️♥️
WHAT A masterPIECE OF COMPOSITION AND PERFORMANCE THIS WAS. tHIS IS most likely THE MOST perfect POP SONG EVER WRITTEN. There are no hook gimmicks, no overtired tricks. This is a whole new structure of music.. Musicians MUST appreciate the intro.. the extended single note first line and the "please all the way.." hook. with the modulated "please" The most musical band in history (The Beatles) never got close to this.
I was only trying to edit my reply, but system would not update it. What I was going to say was that I think Eric Carmen has an exceptional voice, this song just has a GREAT sound, and I LOVE oldies!!!! My mom used to play late 60's and early 70's music while I was growing up, and it has always been my thing. I have always liked "older" music,.........and, I am actually 47. : )
So those were the days….Remembering my first crush….at 15. His name was Paul. He had long blonde hair, green eyes and he was hot….as a shiny stream of light coming from the sun. I was in love! He used to pick me up, from high school and we would drive around for hours listening to the best music in the whole world. This song came on by the raspberries….just made you feel like you wanted to go all the way! Good stuff!!!
Besides loving the song I think it's impressive they sound as good as the studio version - if not better - singing live; harmonies are great and Eric had a great singing voice as lead. And they're playing is spot on.
This is footage of their recording session with Jimmy Ienner! I’ve compared it to other videos where they are wearing the same clothes, Eric is a bit beard scruffy etc.
Agora Ballroom in Cleveland 1970-1971 doing Beatles cover songs. Eric Carmen taught himself to play the guitar in just a few months. He's a trained pianist. Always thought they were awesome. Did great on the covers songs, sounded a lot like the Beatles. That was like 43 years ago, I'm 64 now but what great memories.
I was a kid in the early 1970s on Star Route Road in my white house in Mt Washington Kentucky watching the music video Go All The Way on television and gettung to know and seeing and talking to my darling young girl Cousin visiting me and my family and our chickens with her sweet smile . Great memory and a great song.
@@phpeters87 Haha...what a concept...actually plugging in your instrument, playing it, and if that wasn't enough...you sang the lyrics, in key! How primitive, right? ; )

Seen these guys at the Roof Garden, Okoboji, Iowa in the summer of 73 when they were hot on the scene. They were the opener for The Grass Roots and absolutely stole the show. Man, the house was thumping like crazy when they broke out this one, and those drums near the end of song just filled ya up.
Love the grittier live sound here. The Mike Douglas show was surreal, it was so perfect a performance for a live one. This sounds like a concert tour cut! Great.

Eric Carmen's education in music enabled him to write songs..and maybe some of its sounds emulated others in the era, but his own style and voice are distinct in his own great writing. Every top artist did it and added their own touch. ...and made money! It is part of what enables us to identify the sounds of an era or artist.
