100% correct on this!! i think we all get caught up doing the same things just have to practice and try not to sound the same way all the time good looking out
True dat True dat. Trap Trap Trap. Dirty South Dirty South. And after a while it all sounds the same. Me being from NY as a producer it took me a lil bit to get use to it when it first hit some time ago. Now i love it. But I don't get stuck in making the same sounding tracks atleast I try not to. Its all about the mood im in. Emotional hip hop is my thing. Im glad you put this out there I been saying what u said to myself a minute now.
trap is cool and whats relevant for now...im waitin for another scott stortch, jr rotem style to come back...more musical melodic style uptempo beats...as far as "commercial" hip hop goes, that style was smashin
another thing I see with producers that are stuck in genre boxes is when they do something lets say a trap beat they just use the basic elements with no variety or experimentation. it just gets too repetitive when that's all a producer has to offer
trap music was out before ti check spice one / eightball & mj/ unless you talking about just the hi hats and 808 drum the u would need to check red spyder
This apply for Sample based Beats too .. Im sure it may not have been your intentions but you should also Note.. that this applies to Sample Based Beats too .. Your message.. along with a Multitude of other opinions Singles out TRAP.. And that idea is popular among specific Age groups.. but It should be Noted that its just as bad to have a page full of SAMPLED BASED BEATS as it is TRAP ....
I like this I agree on having variety it make you well rounded when it come to producing, but I think no one should follow anybody's style, I think writers should be open mined and listen to all forms of music, create your style and not worry about people feeling or not feeling if your sound is relevant, if you worry about what people think of your music ,you'll never find your niche audience, Prince never cared about that stuff and he can do any style in music , but he has is own unique style at the end of the day, bottom line either you like him or you don't, that attitude makes him who he is and is the reason he has the notoriety he does, he does care what people think he does what he want that called being an artist.
I just want to throw this out there. T.l and DJ toomp started trap music. then Jeezy took it to the next level. the sound was a soulful southern gangsta rap. not much 808s or weird techno sounds or rotating every sound 2 octaves after 8 bars. however this new style of trap music popularized by Gucci, waka and lex Luger isnt trap music in its entirety. its only a style of trap music which is about to die out.
i dont like all dubstep..trap is cool , but its very much of that nowadays...old school bombap is the best of all...(thats me). did just starting making dubstep. i always want to make something new.
thats some real ish tho ... like i'v even notice ppl don't get plays unless they upload a Trap beat cause thats all ppl want? pfft man i like trap , i make trap but i also do rnb , samped beats , did trance once but its not my thing lol But all in all i have noticed with me my self that when i go from one genre to the next it gets really hard because ur minds stuck on the genre u was workin on a day or so ago
i kindof dont understand what your saying. i need to make more styles of rap music. I think that would be easy for a good beat maker to do as long as he knows wat the hell he or she trying to make .. wat theres undergound and theres mainstrem west coast east south ... its not just the wat kind of beats are hot its the beat maker idk
This video has some Great advise .. however it can be received the wrong way .. theirs an spoken creed per say.. like its a SIN to Say.. DONT SAMPLE SO MUCH.. GO LEARN HOW TO COMPOSE... but its instead a notion of kudos to those that praise and condone Sample Based production SIMPLY because its considered "Real Hip Hop" ect.. due to How Long its been around / relevant
I put out 1 trap beat and 1 oldschool every 2 weeks. You gotta keep it fresh!!!
i find trap beat making kindof easy. I'm having issues with sampling though. I need to buy MPC asap.

That Boom Bap never go in to die
amen. people need to get diversified. be a trendsetter, not a follower. it takes longer to get there, but you'll be around longer in the end
For some producers it may sound like criticism, but for some it's good advice.
Exactly fam! None of my beats are the same

He's right tho,but i dont have that problem because ive been around different music all my life and a musician for 13 years
another thing I see with producers that are stuck in genre boxes is when they do something lets say a trap beat they just use the basic elements with no variety or experimentation. it just gets too repetitive when that's all a producer has to offer

In my opinion, I think Dilla changed hip hop mainly, he introduced most of the beat styles and the whole format of boom'bap sampling.
