Do you need braces before or after surgery for an underbite correction surgery? You mentioned dullness because of nerves do we get full sensation back after surgery?
Short version: How do I know if the risks of having a surgery are worth it? Is it more risky to leave the underbite untreated or is it more risky to have a surgery? Long version: I have an underbite that began in 11th grade during puberty, I got used to living with it but one day I woke up and my jaw started popping in one side when i fully open it or to the side. Although no pain is in there, just poppin. All doctors are saying that the only way is surgery, although I will have to wait for a few months to get a visit for consultation with the surgeon about my specific case. How do I know if the risks of having surgery are worth it? Is it more risky to leave the underbite untreated or is it more risky to have a surgery? I will have to pay for everything because my country does not compensate this :((( Lithuania. Thank you for your time and have great days ahead. (24 years old male)
Hello, thank you very much for watching. After puberty and when your bones stop growing, they do not "thin out." It is possible for bones to get weaker as we age but it will not thin out :)
What about trauma to the mandible, jaw displaced fracture, will that damage the mental nerve while its healing and would it hurt while it rains after recovery
It's possible the nerve can get damaged if there is a trauma that causes a crack/fracture to the jaw. Injury to the jaw may disrupt the healing process based on how severe it is.
@@oguzsozer8347 In some cases, there can be a possibility of permanent nerve damage. Sometimes, the loss of sensation may be permanent, sometimes it will take 1~2 years to heal. Our doctors always check the location of the nerve linings on the jaw and avoid cutting that area :)
@@EUSurgeryEN wow that long? Touching the chin feels like something is crawling and the lip feels like plastic! It’s been 3 months after surgery and the jaw is connected on the bottom but still is open from that to the top
@@oguzsozer8347 The nerves take quite a long time to heal. Since the skin and muscles get pealed during surgery to reduce the bone, it takes a long time to recover. :) If you feel tingling sensation, it means that the nerves are healing. 3 months is still early for the bone to be healed completely.
