I am intrigued when you mentioned regarding the "self actualization of IIM community". It is really thought provoking. Just because they went through it, they want to make it feel like it is very important part of shaping them as a manager. Does it really help or are they just self deluding themselves that it was useful just to justify the sufferings they went through

To be honest, you don't have to go through this ragging (for the lack of a better word) to be a good manager. However, there does one school of thought where "some" people believe these things help in making them tough and in developing the ability to handle stress and challenges.

@@2iimcat i somehow align with that school of thought. Army soldiers go through hell in trainings to become better version of themselves. But mba is not about being in a millitary, it has academical aspects to it, so the ragging, if required, should have certain limits and boundaries which are crossed frequently nowadays in bschools.
