  • In this vlog, we cover the complete itinerary from Delhi to Kheerganga via Bhuntar. We did this trek on 27th January during peak winter. First portion of the trek till Rudra Nath was in a good condition without any snow but after that there was snow through out till the camp.
    The snow vistas through out the trek were out worldly.
    Be sure to carry shoe spikes to navigate easily through snow patches.

    Lovely vlog. Enjoyed it.
    I want to do it in mid February. Will there be snow?
    Also could you please share the details of where you got your costume and spikes?
    How did you reach barsaini?

      @akulbajaj  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you 😊
      Yes, there should be plenty of snow mid February. I got the spikes from Decathlon for around 4.5k. You can get the jacket etc also from there. They have the most value for money items.
      We reached Barsaini by own car. The road is narrow but nicely maintained so any car can go.
      There are buses and shared cabs as well which you can take from Manali or Bhuntar.

    Is trekking shoe needed ya sports shoe enough on December?

    • @akulbajaj
      @akulbajaj  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If there is snow then all shoes will skid, be it sports or trekking shoes. In those situations only spikes can save you. If you are going when there is little or no snow then sport shoes are also fine.
      December end mein shayad aapko snow mile. December starting mein toh it should be clear.

    Hi. Planning to take this trek in last week of december this year. Will there be snow like you have shown in this video? We are a group of friends having no prev. trekking experience. We are planning to take a guide. Is it safe to take this trek now? What do you think? BTW amazing vlog... enjoyed a lot

      Thanks a lot for the kind comment.
      From recent news, prominent peaks have recieved snowfall couple of days back so ideally there should be snow in Kheerganga in last week of December. However it's all very unpredictable and we can only guess. Jan and Feb you'll surely see lots of snow. It's a 12 km hike and fairly well marked. As a beginner, it would make a great first trek. Guide might be able to help you navigate through slippery ice patches but other than that you won't need help in navigating. It's a straightforward trail.
      It's a very safe trek if there's no snow. With snow, some patches become slippery which becomes slightly risky but it's fun as well if you have the right shoes and spikes. Lot of people do it in every season and month so you'll have company as well. Stay safe and enjoy the trek.

    Kasol and kheerganga are different places? If yes, which one is the best to go?

    • @akulbajaj
      @akulbajaj  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes bpth are different places. Kasol is a small city which you can reach by road and it has all hotels and arrangements. Kheerganga is a trek in which you have to first travel 30 km by road and then trek another 12 km to reach.
      Kheerganga is a better place in my opinion.

      Yesterday only we did this trek , If you start early it can be completed in one day.(depending upon your energy level and stamina and how much risk you can take )..don't take the Village route ( it is 3Km long ) .we started 11 Am and reached 4 PM (including 2 breaks of half half hours).After the waterfall ,the trek is a bit hard due to dry ice patches in between .We did it on Friday, and couldn't find ice. When we left on Saturday morning, the snowfall started . if you don't find snowfall ,you won't enjoy it ..scenes would be completely different. When we were coming back ,we found a huge crowd going up due to long weekend...
      Overall Average rating from my end due to no crowd and no snowfall

    • @akulbajaj
      @akulbajaj  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks a lot for the kind words.
      Couple of things to factor in for same day return hike
      1. Stamina, Speed
      2. Snow, black ice
      If you can trek slightly fast, you can trek up in 4-5 hrs. Normally it takes around 6 hrs.
      Snow is fine for trekking but black ice is very slippery and takes more time to cross.
      The trek is still close to 24 km to and fro which is a lot for one day. So please be mindful and prepare accordingly. It can be done in a day but it'll be a stretch.

      Sorry the hot spring had been permanently closed. Now there are small taps which give the same spring water. People used to drink and misbehave around that area so the locals took a decision to dry up the spring and instead have a tap system where people can come and take a bath under taps.

      If you want to do this trek in winter, my one and only tip is to buy or rent spikes. It'll make your trek a whole lot easier and enjoyable. Pack winter layers. There's no network in kheerganga. But some camps are always there no matter the season. Once you reach, you can bargain a little for overnight stay and food combo.
