Hi i am planning to visit around 20th/21st January and do kheerganga trek. Would it be open and is it safe to do the trek then? Also, from where can we rent the shoe spikes?
Hello Yes, trek will be open unless there's extreme and excessive snowfall. It is safe to trek and you shouldn't face any major issues if you take spikes. You can either rent it from Manali or better buy it off amazon. Just search shoe spikes for trekking. There'll be an orange one for roughly 1k. It's good and will help you in future treks as well. Call any hotel in Bhuntar/Kasol and enquire a couple of days before to make sure the the roads and trek is open when you go.
Yes absolutely. It's open and you can go there. Just a word of caution, you might encounter heavy snow on the way to kheerganga. So be prepared for it.
Hi Brother, we are planning to go Kheerganga trek coming January 3rd week. Will it be easy in snow? Someone said in January the trek will be closed due to slippery roads. Please tell me
If it is fresh snow then it is easy. Old snow becomes black ice which gets slippery. Roads are usually open till Barshaini even in peak winters. But best to contact any hotel in Bhuntar/Kasol and check whether the road is open/closed.
Yes bpth are different places. Kasol is a small city which you can reach by road and it has all hotels and arrangements. Kheerganga is a trek in which you have to first travel 30 km by road and then trek another 12 km to reach. Kheerganga is a better place in my opinion.
@@akulbajaj First of all thanks for replying! I heard there are two ways to kheerganga. Nakthan village and Kalga village. Are both ways cover the same distance or differs?
Hum January mein gye the. Uss time tent ka price tha 900 per head with breakfast and dinner kyuki off season tha. Season mein thoda mehenga ho jata hai.
It would depend on the severity of asthma. If it's less than 2 attacks per week and it's mild then with medications you can probably do it. However it's best to consult your doctor before attempting the hike.
Did you do the trek without guide, and was the tent prebooked or u booked on arrival I did this trek in feb 2023 We were 5 people with a group of around 25 trekkers and a guide and the cost for trek was 800 per person including night stay in tent and morning and evening tea and dinner, morning breakfast.
Yes, we did it without guide as I had been there before a couple of times. Tents we booked on the spot only. Cost was similar to what you also paid per person.
Sorry the hot spring had been permanently closed. Now there are small taps which give the same spring water. People used to drink and misbehave around that area so the locals took a decision to dry up the spring and instead have a tap system where people can come and take a bath under taps.
If there is snow then all shoes will skid, be it sports or trekking shoes. In those situations only spikes can save you. If you are going when there is little or no snow then sport shoes are also fine. December end mein shayad aapko snow mile. December starting mein toh it should be clear.
It would depend on your luck buddy. Keep checking the weather forecasts and follow any news available of that region. Ideally you should get some snow in first half of december. Jan/Feb is when you get to experience snow in abundance. Trek in a group and follow the path which your guide recommends. You should be good. It's a very safe trek unless you try something rambo on frozen ice. Usually soft snow gives you some grip whereas frozen black ice is slippery and should be avoided. Have a safe trek and enjoy!
Hello, such an awesome video mann !! Can i go in the first week of January 2025? And if there is heavy snowfall what precautions should be taken? Like i want to experience snowfall but heavy snowfall shouldn't affect us much right?
Thank you! Yes, first week of Jan is a good time to do this trek. In case of excessive snowfall just go in a group and help each other out in slippery sections. Take proper hiking shoes and if possible rent shoe spikes. A lot of trekkers walk this route so the trail is well marked and even in case of excessive snowfall it's safe to hike.
@@akulbajaj Hi, i'm also going there in the first week of Jan, does it snow more towards the end of Jan like the period you went, or will early jan be safer for those looking for lesser snow. thanks bud, great vlog.
@@thehypnoticcat Thank you! Usually last week of Jan has more snow and difficult conditions to hike compared to the first week. Jan/Feb are peak winter months. What do you think about December as a visiting time? Hiking shoes would work or do I need to get (or rent, we can right?) spikes?
Thank you so much for the kind words! Around Christmas, ideally there should be a lot of snow and you'll have a great time. It's a great decision to go with a trekking group if you are trekking in this area for the first time. Normal hiking shoes should work and with a group, you always have help and support so it's manageable. However, my advice would be to rent the spikes for safety and confidence. From what I know, you can rent the spikes now at the starting point of trek as well. All the best for your trek!
Lovely vlog. Enjoyed it. I want to do it in mid February. Will there be snow? Also could you please share the details of where you got your costume and spikes? How did you reach barsaini?
Thank you 😊 Yes, there should be plenty of snow mid February. I got the spikes from Decathlon for around 4.5k. You can get the jacket etc also from there. They have the most value for money items. We reached Barsaini by own car. The road is narrow but nicely maintained so any car can go. There are buses and shared cabs as well which you can take from Manali or Bhuntar.
