It makes me cry to learn of your condition, but so many new things have been developed to treat people who have that disease. My daughter at age age 25 had a cancermous tumor in her spinal column. She received surgery (5-1/2 hrs) and then radiation treatment for 6 weeks. She survived and is now 49 years old. I agree there is hope, and I definitely hope that for you, Princess Catherine. As a mother with two young children that was diagnosed with cancer last year, I see she is going in with the best attitude. Its so hard. Sending all the best to all of them.
At least she has a father-in-law and an aunt (Sarah) who have also faced - twice in Sarah's case - this to talk to. They will understand more than anyone else what she is going through.

Sort of like being able to discuss pregnancy with another woman who has been through it - and each pregnancy is unique - rather than a male friend because they KNOW what you are going through in many ways, or those who have had an amputation know what it is like compared to someone who hasn't. Not so much that they are all the same because they aren't but many of the LITTLE things are the same (I remember reading a book about a double amputee - Douglas Bader I think - where it mentioned the phantom pain/ limbs and how it was only another amputee who could truly understand how irritating it was because while doctors/friends could sort of understand in principle it was only another sufferer who could truly understand the irritation caused). Cancer is similar, it's the little things that you can talk about and which they will understand whereas someone who hasn't gone through can sympathise but won't necessarily understand how it feels.

Not only is this surgery a physical shock to the body, but the drop in hormone levels, added to the news of cancer is totally and mentally devastating and emotionally paralyzing. Princess Catherine is too young for this. Thus saying, with all due respect, her p.r. people at the Palace handled this badly. They were the ones who created the media circus and unwanted attention by failing to be transparent, so poor Princess Catherine and her beautiful family had to deal with the fallout and now face the people. She has done so with great class! Now bug off and leave her alone to breathe and heal. God bless her. She has a long road.

Everyone needs to realize that while yes...Kate is a public figure...she's first and foremost a Mother. I'm not at all surprised with her cancer diagnosis. I figured she did have cancer, even tho they denied it publicly. She needed time to grasp her diagnosis and heal up enough in the hospital before going home to try to explain it to her children HERSELF....NOT thru the media reporting whatever the heck they wanted. It's frightening to children when a parent becomes this sick and needs to be in a hospital. I know this from personal experience as a young child when my Mother died at 39 of liver cancer. Then again as a young mother myself with very young children when I was hospitalized with surgery like Kate had. My children were confused, upset and worried until I came home and they could see I was alive, even tho I had months of recovery to go. PLEASE....Everyone. You got what you wanted by forcing her to go public with her private medical battle. Now...Leave Her Alone so she can focus on fighting this cancer in peace without the stress of all the hateful speculation that's been circulated. Allegedly it was because a US media channel (and I don't know which one nor do I care) was going to release the news she had cancer - no idea how they allegedly knew but it tends to show exactly WHO was behind the alleged breaches in her medical records.

As any woman, like myself, who has undergone a total hysterectomy (everything cut out...gone, empty), we knew something was amiss with the Princess.
Not only is this surgery a physical shock to the body, but the drop in hormone levels, added to the news of cancer is totally and mentally devastating and emotionally paralyzing. Princess Catherine is too young for this.
Thus saying, with all due respect, her p.r. people at the Palace handled this badly. They were the ones who created the media circus and unwanted attention by failing to be transparent, so poor Princess Catherine and her beautiful family had to deal with the fallout and now face the people.
She has done so with great class!
Now bug off and leave her alone to breathe and heal.

Everyone needs to realize that while yes...Kate is a public figure...she's first and foremost a Mother. I'm not at all surprised with her cancer diagnosis. I figured she did have cancer, even tho they denied it publicly. She needed time to grasp her diagnosis and heal up enough in the hospital before going home to try to explain it to her children HERSELF....NOT thru the media reporting whatever the heck they wanted.
It's frightening to children when a parent becomes this sick and needs to be in a hospital. I know this from personal experience as a young child when my Mother died at 39 of liver cancer. Then again as a young mother myself with very young children when I was hospitalized with surgery like Kate had. My children were confused, upset and worried until I came home and they could see I was alive, even tho I had months of recovery to go.
PLEASE....Everyone. You got what you wanted by forcing her to go public with her private medical battle.
Now...Leave Her Alone so she can focus on fighting this cancer in peace without the stress of all the hateful speculation that's been circulated.
