I understand it takes the battery about four hours to fully charge. If you leave the batteries on the charger for several hours more then the recommended four hours will it damage the batteries?

Hello! I charge my batteries all night, every night. I typically charge them for about eight hours at a time. I have had my Nucleus 7 batteries for about a year and a half now and have not noticed any battery deterioration yet. They have consistently lasted about 16-17 hours a day. With my old implants, the batteries did reach a point where they lasted 12 hours rather than 16, but those were the Nucleus 6s after a period of close to four or five years.
