I earned an additional postgraduate degree from Atlanta’s McAfee School of Theology, culminating in the dissertation That There Might Be Inspiration - a critical examination and articulation of transformative music-drama, including through the historical and contemporary works of Handel, Wagner, Puccini, Sondheim, Lloyd Webber and Rice, Boublil and Schönberg. Tappin’s unique approach to writing and composition is full of innovation and authenticity, arising from an inquiring, analytical mind, literary background and gifted musicianship. The most powerful TED presentation I have ever watched. I will make it my life’s mission to find out more about this man I really wish I could meet him one day. Mr Douglas Tappin you are one of my heroes now. I must meet you one day you are so inspirational. How comes I am only just finding out about you. I agree. And yet there seems to be an irony here, for part of his message is that we should not be persuaded by his charismatic appearence, style and rhetoric... Brilliant!
Bringing me back to my philosophy studies. Too bad we no longer have profound sane and healthy debates.
This is not a rethinking this is just a critique of sophistry in favor of rhetoric as was argued by Aristotle and Isocrates.

8:45 onward: The answer to the speaker’s question is ‘yes’. The masses decide their own fate. Or, someone else (in a dictatorship or plutocracy) decide the masses fate.....including the minority’s who are ‘sweep away somewhere’ or are ‘marginalised’.

People who are good at rhetoric are more convincing but that doesn't mean they're actually right. So treat convincing people with more scrutiny and give unconvincing people the benefit of the doubt because rhetoric is a learned skill and not everyone got to go to big brain debate club in school
don't listen to well dressed people who talk well, listen to homeless too.
Well educated people sometimes can’t speak plain English and made themselves clear enough.
