Blimey, that's a big, sweet as catch. That's a Hawaiian 'Ulua / Giant Trevally to remember!

Yessah uncle, sorry to bother but when you know you’re diving the day of the dive how do you prep yourself? Like do you eat a lot or drink a lot before your dive I’ve seen that some days my breath hold is longer then the other and I’m not sure why!❤️

      Dude! No bother! Great question.
I've experimented over the years with all sorts of routines. What works for me these days is a light breakfast of protein and carbs and a lot of water. Too much food (or coffee) reduces my breath hold, for sure. But I've dived with guys that crush a monster beforehand and do just fine...so...I dunno! haha Try different things and see what works for you! Good luck out there!

@ awesome man thanks I’m only 16 getting into spears diving in Hawaii I’ve been diving for a bout a year now😊 but one thing I struggle with is my breath hold I can go 2:10mins on land at my best but when I’m in the water diving it seems to be like 40sec-1:00, do you have any tips or workouts that you do to improv breath holding😊🙏 thank you so much man

I highly recommend a freedive course - they're the best bit of education. I feel that the breathhold comes with experience and calmness - both physical and mental. When you're out there, work on 'active relaxation' - while breathing as calm and normal as possible, focus on every single muscle, one at a time, from your hands and feet, in to your core. 'Turn them off' one at a time. Hopefully you find that helps you calm down and gain some time underwater. Stay safe out there!

    Nice catch!
I heard uluas over 100 lb tastes meh.. is that correct?
Anything 20’s and under way better but how was your 58 pounder? How’d you cook it?

I've never tasted any over 100, but 40 and 50 pounders are wonderful! Some of our current favorite ocean meat! It's a firm meat able to take on any flavor profile. We've done it all sorts of ways; from the air fryer to grill, teriyaki to smoke salt - definitely recommend!!
