He explains that everything in excess is bad. There is "chua chuut" within our body and it is also practical scientifically for hygiene purposes. Likewise society has also formed certain norms for well being. I would like to add that as per bagawath geeta (word of god) the 4 castes that is Brahmin, ksatriya, vyshya and shudra are based on one's work (karma/action) and not based on birth. Therefore it is possible for brahmin to be born to a shudra ( example valmiki, vyasadeva were brahmins despite born to parents who were shudra). Likewise viswamitra born as kshatriya became brahmin and so on and so forth. Over the ages, Most often the son follows the father's foot steps and therefore a brahmins son also became learned and automatically became a brahmin. Down the ages the system got corrupted and people started assigning caste based on birth and that was a problem that needed to be addressed.

My Nani fell ill when I served her tea in my periods, she was very pious. My opinion is if you don't believe it's ok. But respect those who who do, you may not always know entire truth.

Buddha said that He was walking on the muddy path, but was not affected by the mud because he knows everything is the pure land. If Shankaracharya is unable to differentiate between dirty or clean. What would I expect from him about Meditation. He is politicalizing us. There have been better Hindus gurus than him such as Ramkrishna Paramhans, Jiddu Krishnamurthy, Neeb Krori, Praggananda, and all.

I liked Sankaracharyar's explanation. Hope if I add this as well it would make sense - the untouchability practice in the caste system is only limited to the occupation like a Brahmana has to undertake all Vedic rituals with strict disciplines and vows and for this has to maintain both personal cleanliness and ceremonial purity. So be a pure vegetarian. A kshatriya has to protect the society and hence has to maintain strength and ferocity, so allowed certain pleasures and non-vegetarian food. A vaisya has to provide for the needs, comforts of the society and needs to travel, so allowed non-vegetarian food. A shudra attends to the needs of other classes and thus serves, so by this itself is very near to God and thus does not need to maintain rituals and allowed even tamasic food like previous day food. Other than this, there is no difference between any one. This is what I think that our shastras say.
No untouchability in Vedas.All are creations of the Paramatma. The Shankaracharya told untouchability in peculiar ways, but the laymen can not understand, but bring confusion.We should adhere to the Vedas. The present Shankaracharyas are out of the philosophy of Adi Shankaracharya.

Like we say for a person born in rich family that he must have done something good in past life so born in a rich or royal family. Same concept was used for varna of birth too, if did very good karma they used to take birth in Brahmin or any royal family in their next birth as it decides one's social status and fortune.

What Puri shankacharya said seems so logical and correct, especially after corona... The one's who were entitled to do chua choot did it to cross all the limits that lives of people on the receiving end was reduced to a suffering and nothing short of a curse. Everyone has their job in society and they should be respected for that. That didn't happen so we are living a society where anyone is doing any job and we are a mediocre society today in spite of being so much ahead in terms science, technology, economics, healthcare, philosophy etc. at some point of time in past. Perhaps this is what is bound to happen in Kaliyug.

I disagree with Guruji. There is difference between Prevention Based Untouchability and Caste Based Untouchability. If someone is suffering from a viral disease then social distancing and untouchability from him is totally valid and scientific and the disease doesn't occurs to a specific man of specific caste. Most importantly the Prevention Based Untouchability is temporary not permanent. But Swamiji is defending the Caste Based Untouchability which is permanent because someone from Dalit community can't change his jati. Please listen other Dharmacharyas too from different Sampradaya. Please don't defend inhumane practices of Untouchability in the name of corona.🙏🙏🙏

In simple terms what he said was untouchability exists because it is a divine concept based on certain science which we are not capable of understanding. So, untouchabiltiy is correct but today people consider it as an evil or use it for their on ego and greed. And to normalize it he gave irrelevant analogies like that of a diseased person, private sweaty parts etc. (Between the lines: he indirectly compared a human being with your private parts, diseases). No He did not say that . He said , when untouchability is based on science and reasoning etc then it is valid but when it is based on hatred , greed etc then that is wrong . For eg a person who cleans sewers etc if he has not cleaned himself up and is trying to hug another person and the other person objects then it is fine but when it is used for exploitation , politics etc , it is wrong . Thus even if a Brahmin does sewer cleaning , you can choose not to touch him without him cleaning himself and in the same way if a Shudra is clean , there is no reason to not hug him .
@Rohit Mathpal He never mentioned caste, according to his views he was giving examples where physical distancing, social isolation and untouchability's are practiced. In the pre industrial days, certain professions were considered "unclean", so they were physically isolated. I personally think it is injustice and inhuman especially in today's day and age. Having said that, I can understand why it was practiced at those times and even done today depending on circumstances. If you listen carefully, the also says any practice done excessively is also bad.

Brother some caste traditionally practised professions which led to spread of diseases among the masses therefore the practice of untouchability was devised to protect the rest of the population. It was a common practice in Japan, Korea & China read about Burakumin. When these caste stopped doing those professions then the practice too should stop in our work place of we find someone from the untouchable castes we shouldn't practice it because he's not practicing that particular profession anymore.

Poorer than poor defense of lifelong permanent untouchablity. The Hon'ble Shankaracharya has not given any rational explanation for permanent untouchablity due to birth in the particular caste. Whatever, example has been taken to justify temporary untouchablity. Whatever he has discussed is not stigmatic cases. However, the question is about stigmatic permanent untouchablity. Moreover, if this is the case, why other than Brahmans should follow philosophy which he is defending.

अपने और पराये एक ही शरीर के विभिन्न अंगों को कब कैसे किसलिये स्पर्श करना है , अपने रिश्ते नाते सम्बन्धियों , परिजनों, अतिथि, शिष्य, सेवक , सहयोगी , श्रद्धालु , समर्थक , सम्मुखस्थ आदि को कब कैसे किस पद्धति से स्पर्श करना है , इसके शास्त्रीय विवेक को चरितार्थ करना मर्यादामूलक छुआछूत कहलाता है ।

He explains that everything in excess is bad. There is "chua chuut" within our body and it is also practical scientifically for hygiene purposes. Likewise society has also formed certain norms for well being. I would like to add that as per bagawath geeta (word of god) the 4 castes that is Brahmin, ksatriya, vyshya and shudra are based on one's work (karma/action) and not based on birth. Therefore it is possible for brahmin to be born to a shudra ( example valmiki, vyasadeva were brahmins despite born to parents who were shudra). Likewise viswamitra born as kshatriya became brahmin and so on and so forth. Over the ages, Most often the son follows the father's foot steps and therefore a brahmins son also became learned and automatically became a brahmin. Down the ages the system got corrupted and people started assigning caste based on birth and that was a problem that needed to be addressed.
That menstruation thing is true...I have to accept though unwillingly. So many times Tulsi died at my home when I went near it in my periods. My Nani fell ill when I served her tea in my periods, she was very pious. My opinion is if you don't believe it's ok. But respect those who who do, you may not always know entire truth.

There have been better Hindus gurus than him such as Ramkrishna Paramhans, Jiddu Krishnamurthy, Neeb Krori, Praggananda, and all.

I liked Sankaracharyar's explanation. Hope if I add this as well it would make sense - the untouchability practice in the caste system is only limited to the occupation like a Brahmana has to undertake all Vedic rituals with strict disciplines and vows and for this has to maintain both personal cleanliness and ceremonial purity. So be a pure vegetarian. A kshatriya has to protect the society and hence has to maintain strength and ferocity, so allowed certain pleasures and non-vegetarian food. A vaisya has to provide for the needs, comforts of the society and needs to travel, so allowed non-vegetarian food. A shudra attends to the needs of other classes and thus serves, so by this itself is very near to God and thus does not need to maintain rituals and allowed even tamasic food like previous day food.
Other than this, there is no difference between any one. This is what I think that our shastras say.

Like we say for a person born in rich family that he must have done something good in past life so born in a rich or royal family. Same concept was used for varna of birth too, if did very good karma they used to take birth in Brahmin or any royal family in their next birth as it decides one's social status and fortune.

If someone is suffering from a viral disease then social distancing and untouchability from him is totally valid and scientific and the disease doesn't occurs to a specific man of specific caste. Most importantly the Prevention Based Untouchability is temporary not permanent. But Swamiji is defending the Caste Based Untouchability which is permanent because someone from Dalit community can't change his jati. Please listen other Dharmacharyas too from different Sampradaya. In simple terms what he said was untouchability exists because it is a divine concept based on certain science which we are not capable of understanding. So, untouchabiltiy is correct but today people consider it as an evil or use it for their on ego and greed. And to normalize it he gave irrelevant analogies like that of a diseased person, private sweaty parts etc. (Between the lines: he indirectly compared a human being with your private parts, diseases). I personally think this BS served on a silver plate.
No He did not say that . He said , when untouchability is based on science and reasoning etc then it is valid but when it is based on hatred , greed etc then that is wrong . For eg a person who cleans sewers etc if he has not cleaned himself up and is trying to hug another person and the other person objects then it is fine but when it is used for exploitation , politics etc , it is wrong . Thus even if a Brahmin does sewer cleaning , you can choose not to touch him without him cleaning himself and in the same way if a Shudra is clean , there is no reason to not hug him .
@Rohit Mathpal He never mentioned caste, according to his views he was giving examples where physical distancing, social isolation and untouchability's are practiced. In the pre industrial days, certain professions were considered "unclean", so they were physically isolated. I personally think it is injustice and inhuman especially in today's day and age. Having said that, I can understand why it was practiced at those times and even done today depending on circumstances. If you listen carefully, the also says any practice done excessively is also bad.

Brother some caste traditionally practised professions which led to spread of diseases among the masses therefore the practice of untouchability was devised to protect the rest of the population. It was a common practice in Japan, Korea & China read about Burakumin. When these caste stopped doing those professions then the practice too should stop in our work place of we find someone from the untouchable castes we shouldn't practice it because he's not practicing that particular profession anymore.

मंदिर के गर्भगृह में या देवता का स्पर्श सिर्फ उस मन्दिर पूजारी को ही अधिकार होता है।
जहाँ हर कोई मूर्ति के स्पर्श करता है। उस मन्दिर की दिब्य शक्ति समाप्त हो जाती है।

Poorer than poor defense of lifelong permanent untouchablity. The Hon'ble Shankaracharya has not given any rational explanation for permanent untouchablity due to birth in the particular caste. Whatever, example has been taken to justify temporary untouchablity. Whatever he has discussed is not stigmatic cases. However, the question is about stigmatic permanent untouchablity.
Moreover, if this is the case, why other than Brahmans should follow philosophy which he is defending.
