Beautiful project that you built in this video. I’m from the Midwest and have visited a number of Amish stores and shops. We have purchased a few items and now that I’m retired I plan a n building a few things. This chest is my ne and I plan on building a blanket chest like this. Thank you.
Hi...sorry. Our Amazon hinge had not arrived when we completed the video. The video description has a link to the type of hinge and how to install. Thank you for watching. Wes
Great video of making a copy from Amish blanket chest. It turned out beautiful and the Amish people will never know that you copied their chest, they don't use smartphones or computers to watch youtube. Thanks for sharing.
Do you have a video that explains how you went across the table saw to do make that special edge? If you don’t would you consider making one? Thank you!

Love your videos Wes. Just a suggestion but there is some distortion in the audio. Might want to check your levels and lower the gain. Somewhere in the chain the audio has to much gain and is distorting. Not bad just thought you might want to be aware.

Hi Wes, love your woodworking videos!, and wanted to make a quick mention regarding the audio quality as for whatever reason when you speak the sound quality is not crisp, but rather there's echo or may be better described differently, however it's not great - are you using a microphone? or?? Anyway, thought you'd like to know the sound could really be improved. Trying to help, thanks again for the great instruction.

That's a really nice blanket chest. You demonstrated a lot of interesting techniques and I learned a few things. This is the first video of yours I've watched. If you're open to some feedback, the audio could use some improvement and the editing, especially towards the end of the video, is difficult to watch. Your woodworking skills are great and I'll definitely peruse your channel and check out some more of your videos. Thanks for sharing!
Nice job on this project. Looks like a piece that would last for generations. Is the top hinged and are there support hardware to hold it open. This basic design could also be used on an entryway bench with a back railing. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much for your kind words. The video description has a link to the hinges I used as well as a short video on installation. Thanks for watching, Wes
Were did you get the stain and can you give the number ? I have not been able to locate a Library Oak stain. Thank you... Anyone else have a source for the stain ? Thank you.
Its a great looking blanket chest...Ive been commissioned to do one recently and found your insightful. But, ive got to ask...Wheres the hardware and video of that? The building i can do no problem, practically do it with my eyes closed. Its the hardware installation im really wanting to see. Why didnt you include that? 😮😮😮😮😮

Gotta leave ya, Wes. The jump-edits you began two or three episodes ago are so annoying, I just can't watch anymore. Best of luck in the future; you're a good man.
Your wood, rental wide belt, finish material , glue, nails, and your time. $200 ? That comes out to about 25 cents an hour Wes? I built a few of these including a Cube shaped one 42” tall to fit in a living room corner! It’s a med difficult job given panel glue ups router work and cutting out the trim then laying it out to fit correctly! Every bit of a $1000 job in hard wood! Ply wood maybe $5/600 bucks.
I was wondering about the $200 claim too in 2023-2024. I assumed that he meant this for someone to build for themselves and not for selling thus removing the labor cost. The 4/4-5/4 red oak stock, oak veneered cabinet grade plywood, and hardware would be well over that even if he made the moulding himself from the same red oak stock. I’ll assume that glue, fasteners, and stain were assumed to be on hand already in any ship equipped to do this build already. Let’s say the cabinet shop belt sand rental time wasn’t included as he gave other alternatives people could use with it just being for speed & convenience for him. With all of those allowances, I don’t see this being less than $400 or more cost when this video is coming out. While this isn’t one of the videos that calls all of the wood and shows nothing but Festool and SawStop tools with ducted dust collection everywhere, it does seem to take some generous creative liberties for the title and claims. The suspension of disbelief has to be strong. The end product is very nice and reasonable with realistic levels of skill, equipment, and experience.
@@MemphisCorollaS well Said where I am I figured with material and labor I just can not let that go for less than $1200. I am in Northern Calif ., North of Sacramento ! I can drive 30-45 min and source all the materials & build it within a couple day? So given the 15% for carrying material 16 hours min of labor @ $70 and hour clearly a $1200 item. Of course some things you can do to min costs but not much! I am a pro finish carpenter/cabinet maker (not full kitchens I am not 100% just cabinets so I stay away from full build out kitchens). Anyway Wes was blowing a little smoke there but he is pushing for views from the naive in this area! As my friend stated who is a tradesman “some know? Some don’t “!
Oh my gosh! The jump edits are really annoying. It reminds me of how I watch these videos…jump forward to each part I really want to see. Especially when someone talks as much as he does. Still good information.
What a beauty, not sure I have the necessary skills yet but this is definitely on my to do list.
Fantastic job on your rendition of an Amish blanket chest. Do you have more detailed plans that were showed on the video?
You are the best, I enjoy watching your amazing work thank you for sharing.
Wow Wes, what an awesome job! I love your videos and training. Do you have detailed plans available?
Beautiful project, Wes! Fantastic job.

That sounds great! Good luck and I am glad you enjoyed the video! Wes
Nice work.. just think the Amish do all this by hand gotta admire their skills as well
Waw fantastic video I liked all your beautiful videos thanks
I wish I had seen this before I started my Coffee table, excellent work. Subscribed and liked.
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for the subscription...welcome to the channel ! Wes
Did not see what was used to install the top
Like hinges and what type

I would love to see a video detailing how you did the cove cut on the table saw.

Very cool project! Thanks!
The Audio seemed a bit choppy on this one, but love the build. Thanks Wes.
Too much gain on the microphone--causes clipping distortion. Fortunately most of Wes's videos do not have this problem.
Do you have a video that explains how you went across the table saw to do make that special edge? If you don’t would you consider making one? Thank you!
Nice job Wes. Just wish you had shown us what you used for hardware and how was it installed. Enjoy your vids!

Dang Mr Wes I love it no pocket screws 👍What type of hinge did you use?
The difference between a Carpenter and a hobbyist/ so called woodworker. Pocket holes 🤦♂️🤣🤣

Thanks Mr Wes that chest is awesome and it didnt take a boat load of tools to build it
It looks great, does the lid just set on top or do you plan on putting hinges and lift arms or braces of any sort?
Wish you had shown us the hardware you used to put the top on the chest.
Great job, I wanted to see a hinge being attached.
I should wear my glasses on 😂 that was funny 🤣

Thanks for your comment...hopefully we have cleared up the problem. Wes
Nice job Wes. What type of hinge?

I made one based on this video. (Wished that there had been some more detail in certain areas, especial toward the end)
Hi...glad to hear the video inspired you to build one. I bet its wonderful!
Thank you!! Wes
Did you stop at a store in the Arthur Illinois Amish community?
Love it! ❤❤❤❤
Wes my man your work is fantastic and I appreciate it, But where are the plans? Thanks for sharing
Hi...sorry no plans 😑 Thanks for your kind words, Wes
Hey Wes, great project - I'm gonna give this a go for my wife for Christmas. May I ask what rail & stile bit set you used? Thanks!
Hi...lucky wife! It was a 1/4" bead stile and rail set. Good luck it will be beautiful, Wes
Nice!
How much for All the tools you used?
Do you have some plans available?
Sorry...we don't have plans right now. Thanks for watching, Wes
Curious why you don’t use biscuits for the top (to help with alignment) when your video demonstrates struggle with just glue.
This is a beautiful heirloom piece Wes! Love the chest and I loved the video!👌👌👌👌👌👌
Thank you kindly John....best of everything to you. Wes
Were did you get the stain and can you give the number ? I have not been able to locate a Library Oak stain. Thank you... Anyone else have a source for the stain ? Thank you.
Stain was discontinued.
Odd question...where did you purchase your glue bottles? Tough to find without going through the high end specialty tool suppliers.
Hi...I get mine at my wholesale hardware supplier. Online tool retailers may be a good source. Thanks for watching, Wes

Not sure about anyone else but, the audio is peaking pretty bad on my end!
What’s funny is a lot of amish people use power tools
