    I think it should be explained why people are typically crossing the river. To get the other side is the obvious answer, but Playa Grande is the next beach north of Tamarindo which sometimes is breaking for surfing when Tamarindo is marginal. From my experience there are boats just up the river that will take you up the river for a nature tour or across and drop off at Playa Grande for surfing. Also Playa Grande is mostly national parkland so the surfing is less crowded. It is about a 20 minute drive by vehicle, but a quick boat ride across the river and up the beach.

    I’ve seen a 7 ft bull shark in this estuary.

    Last month I was surfing down by Capitan Suizo, when someone caught a small shark (black tip?).

    I wouldn't stand right by the water with your back facing it. Lots of big ol crocs in that estuary

      Yes, you're correct with the fact there are crocs in the estuary but its not THAT dangerous and interactions between humans and the wildlife are very rare !!! Thanks for the concern, be well !!
