“Tore a page from (Michael) Jordan, came, destroyed the game” Em is referring to the fact that all current greats are compared to MJ but nobody can touch his greatness….I think.
Definitely talking MJ. Basically saying he changed what ppl considered greatness before these other rappers arrived and Eminem destroyed it for everyone else.. my take on it, at least lol

Jordan came, destroyed the game. People say Michael Jordan destroyed the game of basketball because he was too good. He's saying he tore a page from his playbook and took over rap.
1:43 "hes MAD at the wind, hes in a nuclear war" like hes mad at nothing but going nuclear and MAD stands for Mutually Assured Destruction cause nuclear war is Mutually Assured Destruction.
I think he said "tore the page from Jordan, came, destroyed the game before you came, enjoy your stay" like Julius Caesar's 'I came, I saw, I conquered' type shit. Well, you guys figured it out now so I'm leaving these cookies here for y'all 🍪🍪
Sorry guys you both are wrong. Look up Jordan King and it will show the wiki to Abdullah II. His father Hussein was the King of Jordan and two weeks before he died made a surprised announcement that Abdullah II his eldest son was to be his heir and not Hussein's Brother Hassan who was suppose to be the next ruler in line. This announcement came on January 24th 1999 and was a pretty big deal worldwide. You know when the first time the video of "My Name Is" released? January 21st 1999. Then proceeded to destroy the game, kinda like... Abdullah, a constitutional monarch, liberalized the economy when he assumed the throne, and his reforms led to an economic boom which continued until 2008. Reading through his reign, I found relatable comparisons to Eminem's life. All way too much of a coincidence to me.
This is newer Eminem from only 3 years ago. This is a prime example why when people say Em isn’t as good as he use to be their argument completely falls apart, and they are totally wrong. People who hate on Em just aren’t listening correctly, or don’t know what true hip hop is.
This right here... I admit I'm a Stan, but also I try as hard as I can to be objective... this man has more lyrics in a song than people have in their whole discography.... he has changed the game
Ya. Hard agree. It’s an extremely unpopular opinion tho. The thing is just Em has been so excellent his whole career is almost more of a preference for an era, but people really try to make it objective. Like I think Em is more skilled now, but he dominated the whole world in the 2000s.
He scrabbles my brain on at least half of the tracks on his albums. His flows be tongue twister. He spits it so fast and I be like how in the fuck did he say that so fast. His word play is unmatched!
Here's something insane.. the bar "penny has more sense" 1. Penny has more cents 2. Penny with more sense is "penny wise" 3. Pennywise is a clown 4. Next line he is referring to "clowns in his grill" 🤯🐐
Hes saying how much better he is than other rappers and how he's going to show them who not to pick a rap battle with, and ends it with "these idiots wittiest shit against me, as shitty as mc hammers" which is straight forward, other rappers are about as witty as mc hammer's shit was when compared to how witty Em's shit is....
"A penny has more sense". A penny that has more sense would be a wiser penny, so I think this is also alluding to Pennywise the Clown, to subliminally lead into the next verse which is about clowns
Em is, by FAR, the greatest lyrical mastermind to ever live. Hes just different. There are rappers i prefer to listen to depending on my mood because their songs are geared for whatever mood I'm in, but if I want to listen to some high level shit and pick it apart to find the hidden bars, Eminem is the only choice because hes so goddamn good at writing that each song can be as fun to read through as a full length novel.
Scratching as an art form went underground because it wasn't "pop"-y enough for the mainstream anymore. It needs to come back. What people don't realize, is that to work the heads like Premier did to catch the exact moment in the song/vocals he wants to repeat ("I'm-I'm-I'm-I'm Eastside!") is incredibly difficult to do. Along with everything else he did on the track. Immaculate.
Imo Eminem is better than he’s ever been. Like his content was maybe better in his first three albums but his lyrical skill has far surpassed who he was when he started. I don’t know anyone who literally makes every line a double or triple like him.
Totally agree...that what greats at their craft do...evolve or try to raise the bar even further he really murdered the alphabet in 99 so this is the result of that
I totally agreed with u on ‘‘em being the goat.. everyone’s got their own opinion on who’s the goat but ‘‘em has numbers that don’t lie. Multiple albums going platinums and diamonds
This is exactly how I felt with that song he did with 50 "Is This Love" where he was spelling out all these words. I felt like an idiot who failed 2nd grade english.
This Guy ( Marshall,Slim,Eminem) has referenced future albums and songs throughout his career. He just called himself Kamakazi at the end of this, which is the album before this but in earlier songs he's definitely told us his future pieces subliminally
His lyrics provide a richness that as you listen to the songs over and over you start to understand their meaning. People cheat with Rap Genius or other lyrics breakdown, but sometimes even looking up what he meant adds to the experience of listening to the song. It's like the difference between a Michael Bay Transformer movie and Christopher Nolan's Inception - both are movies, but both give you a different viewing experience.
8 Mile Road is a must if you's get the chance. These reactions are actually like Eminems lyrics, the more you listen the more you hear truth that you might have missed. What a team.👍👍🇮🇪.
A good example of “you don’t want to do a cypher with him” is Big Sean’s Friday Night Cypher. There are 11 artist on that cypher and about half-way through Em’s verse you can clearly understand why he went last! Y’all should check it out!
Let’s remember Eminem writes all his lyrics! That’s why we love him and there is no other who every lyric is from his heart from his dome through his pen
Mad reaction. This was from his most recent album which came out a year or two ago, full of bars and dope features. I gotta say, I like that you mentioned his speed rapping that's full of flow and isn't forceful... because he was known to rap fast since his first song recordings, e.g. Biterphobia, and has doubled back to this style and really comes more clear and concise whilst sharpening his pen in the meantime. Love it.

The best way I can understand Eminem and his approach to hip-hop is to go back to artists, musicians, and thinkers, in general (philosophers, scientists, mathematicians, etc.), who hold an almost iconic place in western society and history (e.g., the Renaissance period of the ~14th century to ~17th century). Now, I am not equating the substance of what he says to the great minds of said era, but, instead, that his drive, determination, and pursuit of knowledge within his craft are analogous to them. Michael Jordan destroyed the game like Harry Kane ?
Harry Kane and Jordan pickford are both damn good soccer players so it could be them as well
Jordan was an amazing college player as well. He destroyed the college bball game before going to pros
