Imagine if Hashirama actually killed himself, Madara wouldn't even need the infinite Tsukeyomi to control the world, he'd be the strongest Shinobi left with the strongest army and village, plus doubt he'd give tail beasts away too other villages. Now compared to what people think Tobirama did imagine how Madara with no Hashirama to keep him in check would treat the Senju.
Madara would actually be a good hokage. Brutal, but ultimately good, as he knows very well the cost of losing siblings. The Uchiha clan would not abandon him, Tobirama would fail, children would not be participating in wars, and Zetsu would fail. Madara, preventing Hashirama from killing himself, was his greatest mistake. Dude loved Senju and enjoyed fighting him more than anything I guess

Hashirama was always the right choice.. he's the one who always stuck with the Village over everything, Madara abandoned the Village and sought out his own idea of the infinite tsukiomi. Hashirama was good for the whole Ninja world not just his own clan and he knows just as much about losing his siblings too, the Uchihah clan killed his brothers. He's the one who showed them mercy..not the other way around. Hashirama Senju was the strongest shinobi in the world, he could have slaughtered the Uchihah clan after Madara was gone but he chose to live in peace..the plan that Madara abandoned over politics.
