Terrific cover, thanks so much for posting! I have been trying to figure this one out myself and getting the insight on Drop D really helps. Plus I didn't realize how much the trem bar during the noisy chorus parts contributes to that "warbly" sound. Awesome job & thanks again!!!
Have you done any adjustments or modding to your Squier ? Great playing by the way! I also relearned the song same as you since I also overcomplicated it when I was learning it by ear :) ! Thank you!
I'd say anything that is close to the sound of a Big Muff! I'd recommend getting one modeled on the green russian muff as that has more mids and can cut thru a mix better.
Yes I did! However I've found that for the MBV-ish reverse reverb sound the early reflections mode actually works better imo! But my rig isn't really set up for that right now as my RV-500 is at the end of my chain whereas I think the reverse reverb stuff works better before fuzz.
@@chris60036 Hey Chris thank you. Unfortunately I kinda fell out of doing the videos and hence the tabs. Been focusing on my own music in the meantime - I hope to come back to this soon though. FWIW, the tuning is in Drop D, hope this helps
Thank you! Nope no reverse reverb. Just a room reverb with some modulation set to about 5 seconds. I think the gaziness comes from the muff more than anything for this song.
Hi Soraia! I didn't have tabs for this. Just figured it out myself and from referencing some live footage of the band. I hope to write out tabs for this and put them online though!
One of The Best shoegazest songs ever written
you gotta drop your tones for DIIV bro. literally insanley accurate, been trying to recreate them for my covers. your playing is breathtaking bro

jesus christ-- dude your tone is spot on!
Thank you!
Dude…. Spot on tone and playing….. can’t believe I would find you here just days after seeing you guys perform🥹
Another crazy DIIV fan like me! Beautiful stuff dude. Goddamn. These videos make me tear up a little. Keep doing what you do!
Thank you for the kind words. That means a lot to me!
Perfect! great work!
Really nice playing and sound, I feel it :-) So it's standard Drop D tuning, right? And how nice of Colin to reach out and drop some tips!
tks for the updated version! this is definitely the accurate one
Yeap I think so too! Haha. Thanks for watching!
Very accurate
Tab! please !

would love to see the tabs for this when/if you get a chance to put them online!!
Nice cover bro, can you make the guitar cover of “Healthy Moon” by DIIV ?
Sure! Will keep that tune in mind!
So cool, you play wonderfully
Thank you very much!
Great video man! What pedals do you recommend for the big distortion sound DIIV gets on Deceiver? Like on this song or on like before you were born?
I'd say anything that is close to the sound of a Big Muff! I'd recommend getting one modeled on the green russian muff as that has more mids and can cut thru a mix better.
Wow I didn’t really give their new album a chance but you made me realize that I’m missing out. Super great super awesome love it! Subscribed 😆
Haha it's actually my favourite album of theirs. Thank you for watching the videos and for subscribing!
you're the best!
Thank you! That's really kind of you! ♥️
Great cover dude
Thanks for listening!
Great video and channel Darius! Pedal question: did you try the reverse reverb on the RV500?
Yes I did! However I've found that for the MBV-ish reverse reverb sound the early reflections mode actually works better imo! But my rig isn't really set up for that right now as my RV-500 is at the end of my chain whereas I think the reverse reverb stuff works better before fuzz.
So awesome
Thank you!
Is their stuff from the previous 2 albums in drop d too?
great man, it looks like what Andrew plays in the song I would love the tabs I can not play the chorus :(
Thanks for watching! Tabs coming soon!
@@dariusoon Hey man - love your videos. Did you ever produce a tab for this? Thank you
@@chris60036 Hey Chris thank you. Unfortunately I kinda fell out of doing the videos and hence the tabs. Been focusing on my own music in the meantime - I hope to come back to this soon though. FWIW, the tuning is in Drop D, hope this helps
Very nice! I love the sound.
At the instrumental part (1:24) are you using reverse reverb?
Thank you! Nope no reverse reverb. Just a room reverb with some modulation set to about 5 seconds. I think the gaziness comes from the muff more than anything for this song.
It’s the whammy bar strumming with big muff doing the sound
What is your signal chain here?
It's in the video description! Thank you for watching! ♥️
Could you cover Acheron please?
I'd love to! Been a bit busy atm but will get back to this project sometime soon.
I love your covers!!! Btw, where did you get The tabs?
Hi Soraia! I didn't have tabs for this. Just figured it out myself and from referencing some live footage of the band. I hope to write out tabs for this and put them online though!
How come the lead at the end sounds an octave up to what youre playing or are me ears tricking me
Hey man! Yeap there's definitely an octave up in there. Was probably overdubbed, or they had an octave effect.
