Again a big big thank you all for the support on the Satellite Lovers video! ❤ I really love making these videos and I hope you enjoy this one too :D Let me know which Orange Lounge song is your favorite! 👇
youtube algorithms, but it also works more towards people who already dig this kind of stuff. I already have a huge log of shibuya-kei myself, but I just learned about Orange Lounge this month
Finally a video in English about orange lounge!, very grateful for this one. This band literally introduced me to Shibuya Kei and pop'n music rabbit hole. lol
As someone who loves Orange Lounge and Shibuya-kei music, I was deeply moved to see this video in 2024. I love all of Orange Lounge's songs, but my favorites are tracks like 'LOVE IS ORANGE' or 'Les filles balancent,' which have a bit of drum 'n' bass or sambass vibe! I've been continuously searching for similar tracks like the earlier works of Yasutaka Nakata (capsule, COLTEMONIKHA, NAGISA COSMETIC, etc.) and Serani Poji. There are also many great musicians from Korea, such as Humming Urban Stereo, Clazziquai, and Portable Groove 09 (though I wish I could list more, my language skills limit me in searching for that kind of musics). I was also deeply moved when I heard 'le xxxx' in SDVX. Recently, there’s been another wave of appreciation for Serani Poji's music, and I hope one day Orange Lounge will also be loved again. It would also be great if it could be reinterpreted through Dormir (I really like songs like 'Cookie Bouquets' and 'なまいきプリンセス' as well). Once again, thank you for the video! I'm also thrilled to see the exchanges in the comments section, which has introduced me to more experiences and composers! (Please forgive any unclear expressions or errors in translation as this was done through AI)
I remember hearing lots of popn music and saying "oh huh this sounds like orange lounge" only to find out in this video that yes, orange lounge is in popn music
Orange Lounge, in my opinion, is up there as the pinnacle of Shibuya-kei alongside Serani Poji, Capsule and Orangenoise Shortcut (Would love to see videos on these artists as well!) I would be super stoked if TOMOSUKE brings Orange Lounge back! I was surprised to find out that he was the one behind Orange Lounge since his discography under the name TOMOSUKE is already pretty stacked. Highly encourage everyone to check out the rest of his songs from all the OG rhythm games. His collabs with jazzin park all being personal favourites of mine.
It's sad to think how we get to miss out on newer ambient, lounge Tomosuke music because of corporate restructure. It's quite hard to find something as moving as his earlier work in today's style of rhythm game music, I hope this won't be the case forever.
Tomosuke has insanely talented, not only in his composition but for the variety of genres in his songs. I HIGHLY reccomend listeing to his album "marble". You will get a taste of some crazy techno tracks like IMPLANTATION, as well as songs he made with vocalist Frances Maya, who has an absolutely beautiful voice. I also love his songs with EeL, like 777 and ASTRAL VOYAGE. Pop'n music has recentely been getting a resurgence in the west. Mainly because of that we like to pump it video, which I do not like for a few reasons, mainly because it dosen't feature the actual music made from the talented composers for bemani. Pop'n and bemani games mean a great deal to me, so I'd love for there to be more positive exposure for the music and art like this video!
I love orange lounge, but never knew the artist was still active (or even alive) this video was a great way to find out about him and I hope you make more like this :))
After listening to all their songs, yea that definitely sounds like something straight out of a Sonic game. Wonderful composer. Really interesting video!
Orange Lounge is surprisingly good music to listen! I am impressed of this astetchics and nostalgic vibe. Also animation got it's interesting moments and also got nostalgic elements.
YESSSSS YES YES YES!!!! If anyone wants recommendations, he currently is working with dormir and the HinaBitter Bitter Sweets project, which have some very nice soft songs that might remind you of Orange Lounge!
Thanks for making this video, last week yt algorithm recommended me their debut album and I love it on first listening, back in my childhood days I played Pump it up on the arcades (even if I was bad at it, i just played for the music) and I'm into Bossa Nova since 2018, also DnB music since 2020. Orange Longue is the perfect match pf those genres that i never expected it existed, even if I was introduced into Shibuyakei 3 yeas ago I'm feeling new in the genre.
Thanks for digging into this! I actually played some of these songs in step mania in the early 2000s, along with DDR, Beat Mania, and Gitadora songs, so it was cool to see who was behind some of these
Tomosuke is a machine and I'm so happy more information is available about him in the west now. It's been quite fun every time I've stumbled upon something I liked, only to realize it was once again a Tomosuke piece.
Oh goodness a video on Orange Lounge ♡♡♡ this makes me so happy Mobo moga was the first Orange Lounge song I heard, years ago when I played DDR extreme for the first time as a kid From there,,, I went down a bigggg rabbit hole of Shibuya-kei, and I still love it till this day ♡♡♡ I'm so happy you reached out to tomosuke himself too !! In every rhythm game I play now, I always get hyped when I see songs composed by him Thanks for all the efforts with this video, I was so excited when I saw this come up in my recommended ♡♡♡
So glad you liked the video! ❤ Seriously Orange Lounge are amazing it’s great seeing after all these years the music is still resonating with so many people :D Tomosuke is an absolute legend!
Orange Lounge, Capsule and Pizzicato Five. All great artist that have led me down rabbit hole that is Shibuya Kei,Bossa Nova and Lounge music. Awesome video though, was cool to hear from the creator.
Thank you so much for this. This was a big part pf my teen years. La Brisse d'eté was my fav song, at that time I remeber going to his webpage, never wrote an email to him, but he def was a pretty big influence on my actual musical taste,. Thank you so much!
Thoroughly enjoyed this interview and an inside look into Tomosuke's old group. Their music came into my life in 2015 when an ex cheated/left me and my grandmother's death just added to that trauma. Orange Lounge helped me cope, find solace in where to go next and eventually celebrate the fact that I came out stronger. Love Is Orange & Les Filles Balancent forever changed my life as they were songs that were so relatable and therapeutic. Thank you for posting this. Meant a lot and made my year. Subscribed
Really glad you were able to overcome those challenges man you deserve all the best! ❤️ I’m sure Tomosuke would be proud reading how much positive impact his music can have!
I DM'd him on Twitter and he actually thanked me. Thank you for informing the world that he has a Twitter. Couldn't be more happier than he actually responded back
I had just discovered orange lounge thanks to s frind a few weeks back and ive been exploring capsule's discography for this time when this video poppef up in my feed. So many srtist i got to check! Soany albums and so many good times around the corner, i thank you.
suu cool!! i hope more people find you and you become mainstream. i found orange lounge through a song called "you seem indifferent, i feel alone" by aphextwinssucks which sampled dimanche and i have been waiting for someone to talk about them!! really good stuff, bro!
Ayy thank you so much! ❤️ That’s a unique way of finding Orange lounge! I defs need to check that track out right now actually! Also I made a video on cymbals it was my first vid on this channel! :D
Thank you so much for making this video!! I've been a fan since the early 2000s when i first played DDR and now still do with my IIDX and pop'n journey!
I first heard of Tomosuke Funaki through the album Petit March as it included several tracks from rhythm games like beatmania, pop'n music and DDR. I immediately recognized his sound from somewhere, I was already familiar with other shibuya-kei artists like early Capsule and Cornelius but Orange Lounge unknowingly popped up in my playlists every now and then. I never paid too much attention to the project until I made the connection with Tomosuke, so imagine my surprise when I noticed the similar artwork ahahaha Recently I've been listening to a lot of obscure japanese music, with the album 未来のエネルギー by サイドプロテア quickly becoming one of my absolute favourites within the Lounge Pop genre. The main composer behind the project was mirawi, who unfortunately passed away back in 2014 leaving a great impact and a great discography to be cherished. In his earlier years he was working on a mysterious album titled ねこは青を子ねこは黄緑の中で which never ended up being published even though the tracklist was almost finalized... If you want to investigate further there were several entries on his sideprotea blog which were honestly very insightful towards his creative process
this is great, Orange Lounge mean a lot to me, playing songs from DDR. I think Shizue Tokui music influenced me in a way (I have a couple of songs directly inspired by Orange Lounge I think, those songs are yet to be recorded) there's a lot of obscure talented unsung heroes in the japanese rythm game industry, we must recognize their artistry!
I think this is the first thing I saw about Orange Lounge so I'll have to go look em up since Im a fan of like, Air, Stereolab, and Pizzicato Five and this is kinda in that vein.
omg i recently just got into orange lounge and was curious about where they are now, luckily I stumbled upon ur video at the right moment!! thank yoU so much for this!
I played so many times those songs on pop’n’music and I never had any idea it was linked to all of this! I feel stupid but also incredibly happy to have discovered this
Glad i found this! I was just trying to learn Furi Furi on guitar by ear. My favorite is Pot pourri di marmalade. I'm looking for their song about a mime who got detained and falling in love with a fellow mime in prison?
thank you so much for this video! i've never heard of them before but now that i have, definitely giving them a listen as the music sounds really nice.
Yeah sadly they aren’t on streaming :/ I hope someday they will be but there’s a channel by the name of: yotsu diary that complied all the songs in one comprehensive mix/video :) th-cam.com/video/zterzCDU6_o/w-d-xo.htmlsi=yOy3bJJik7OohJCT

I hope so too! He’s really keen on making this style again so we’ll be looking forward to it!
I agree. Capsule sadly moved away from doing that kinda music in favor of like modern EDM too. Long love shibuyakei
Erm.... waiter!!! More orange lounge please!!!
DDR introduced me to orange lounge through “Love is Orange” and it’s been on my radar ever since. Love to TH-cam it here and there ✨ 🍊
