Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel for another episode of Posing with Peter! In this video, we showcase 12 different poses for one of my favorite characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Nebula by Hot Toys!

Amazing work Peter. Thanks for sharing. My fave pose is Nebula punching Thanos (the last pose). I also like those poses which captured intimate moments with Tony and Rocket. Also the one with the beheaded Thanos is great! Key takeaway for me is: it’s all in the hips. 😄

Thank YOU sir for watching & commenting 😊 Yeah I think the last pose of Nebula punching Thanos is my favorite too but unfortunately I live in an earthquake-ridden city (Los Angeles) so it's a bit unsafe for me to leave them posed like that 😅 I'm really glad you enjoyed the intimate moments though -- it was Nebula's subtle vulnerabilities and awesome redemption story-arc that drew me into liking her character even more, so your positive feedback on those parts means a lot to me 🙏 And yep, just remember: it's all in the hips! 😂

Me too, i never use stands. If i want to do a pose, i need the figure to stand by itself or else I change my plan and do another pose

Funny enough I'm absolutely terrible at origami lol... I was fundamentally bad at math/geometry in school so folding paper into finely-measured shapes definitely wasn't my strong suit 😅

Thanks so much for your positive feedback! Funny enough I've been criticized for "lacking originality" as I often recreate poses from the source material so I try to balance coming up with original poses and recreating familiar ones. I'm really glad you enjoy the content and commentary ☺️

I think you have struck a really nice balance as far as recreating iconic scenes versus showcasing new poses. That pose where Nebula is punching Thanos is one of the very best I have seen in years of collecting ...keep doing what you are doing man.

These videos are perfect. I don't have Nebula, but I can use some ideas you used here for my Black Widow figure. I'm also definitely going to use that trick with a metal wire to pose a figure hitting Thanos, I'll try that with my Endgame Cap, when I get it from Sideshow.

I think the winner is the Nebula attacking Thanos. Such a simple way to get such a dynamic pose. Also really like when she's posed with the Star Lord, Yondu, and Rocket. Nebula has such a fierce face than even just walking with the batons is menacing.
Thanks so much for watching & commenting! Hehe yeah I think Nebula attacking Thanos was my favorite of the whole bunch too. As much as I'd love to leave them in that action pose long-term, unfortunately I live in earthquake city so having them both posed that way without a dynamic stand would be too risky 😅 And I agree about Nebula's sculpt -- it was done so well that it can look intimidating even in a neutral expression.

Very nice Peter! I guess if I had one comment for potential improvement, at least for me, I’d say that one of the things I loved about your videos guesting with Justin was the step by step instruction on how to actually achieve those poses, as opposed to just showing the final images.
So for me at least, assuming you want your videos to top out at 10 minutes each or so, maybe a few poses less, but with instruction included. Just a thought. Cheers!
Thanks so much for your feedback, both the positive and the constructive. It really means a lot to me, and you're absolutely right about the tutorials -- I began my TH-cam journey providing step-by-step instructions for fellow collectors since I originally thought there was a need/high-demand for that type of content. As such, my previous tutorial-video format had a quick "sneak peek showcase" of all the poses within the first 1-2 minutes of the video, followed by the 15 - 30 minute step-by-step tutorial. Unfortunately upon reviewing the long-term analytics of my videos while on Justin's channel, we learned that the majority of my audience only stayed for the first 2 - 3 minutes to see the pose-showcase for that figure then closed out of the video (it was a staggeringly high amount of viewers that didn't bother to watch the tutorial portion.) From that data, I decided to switch to the pose-showcase style so that I could focus on sharing more pose ideas to fellow collectors within the allotted time.
All that being said, it's worth mentioning that I might bring back the step-by-step tutorial style for certain poses... so rather than a full "Pose Tutorial For Nebula", instead I could do a 5-10 minute video series on "How to Pose: Walking" or "How to Pose: Flying" and feature multiple figures for each category. Just a thought 😉

Thanks for the reply, man! Totally understand that feedback. You’re probably right that a full tutorial on every pose is likely overkill. But maybe with some of the more dramatic and unusual ones you might consider a deeper dive.
TBH, my main goal is still to get you to do a full tutorial on that awesome Yondu, Quill, Rocket group walking pose you posted on IG a while back! I’m a huge fan!

I have a brief 6-minute video on my channel that goes over how to lower the shelves to fit larger figures like Thanos. I'll provide the link for ya, but the answer to your question is "wire rope clips" size 3/16 inch. They're small metal brackets that clip onto the 4 metal bars/frame of the detolf and keep the glass shelf in place at whatever height you want. You can also buy larger adjustable clips on eBay too.

Just got my Nebula. Right now she's in the walking pose. It was a bit challenging to balance on the display stand, since her legs are so close together. But they look so good that way, it's a sexy seductive walk. I have to do the punching Thanos next, it looks so awesome, I even have the metal wire ready for use. Thanks man , I really look forward to more videos.

Ayyy congrats on getting Nebula! Such an incredible figure eh? And yeah for the waking pose, I didn't bother putting the metal hooks between her legs -- I just let her backside/belt area rest on the metal hooks to prop her up so she could still maintain the seductive pose.
And man, to know that you're gonna attempt the aerial punching pose is SO awesome!! Just be careful when inserting the metal wire into her back and into Thanos' suit. It's best to bend/fold the wire over itself so that it forms a rounded edge like shown in the video... don't want any sharp points digging into the figures. Good luck!

I do have a City Hunter -- but posing Predator figures is challenging indeed since their range of motion is quite limited (they don't have nearly as many points-of-articulation due to their sculpted bodies and limbs). I haven't re-posed my City Hunter in over a year so I may do a retro posing video for him someday 😁

Just one question about something you said a few times on this video... I think Thanos is the “biological” Dad of Nebula, and Gamora is the one adopted, isn’t that true? 🧐

To answer your question: although it's never explicitly stated in the MCU that Nebula was adopted like Gamora was, it turns out that all of Thanos' "children" in the MCU (including The Black Order) are indeed adopted or stolen in some form (albeit by force or by choice) based on MCU Wiki. Also if you recall at very the end of Guardians Vol 2, Gamora mentions to Nebula just before they go their separate ways that there are countless other little girls across the galaxy who need protection against Thanos just like they needed when they were little. I think Thanos only had one biological child in the comics, a son named Thane (*pushing my nerdy glasses up* 🤓)

Thanks! I use my iPhone XS for all my videos and photos. ProCam app to record in 4K with more custom controls like auto white balance / leveler / manual focus etc, and I use the native iOS camera app "portrait mode" for my pics and thumbnails.

Be that as it may the face plate would have been a good addition to your this figured since we only have one in the first place and being magnetic would have been painless process to R&R they definitely dropped the ball 🏈 on that.

This video here in particular was primarily focused on Nebula but the other Guardians are also very fun to pose, so I'm sure Starlord will appear again in a future video 😁

Yeah I haven't posed Rocket Racoon very much aside from what's shown here in the video. I do have a pic of him walking while grabbing his crotch on my Instagram though 😅

Ah gotcha. Unfortunately the suit on Endgame Rocket will have permanent creases even right the slightest wrinkle. I had him in the casual walking pose for a few months, not really an aggressive pose per se, but the natural folds of the fabric caused permanent creases because of the material that his suit is made of. There's almost no way to avoid it unless you A.) keep him in a museum pose, or B.) pose him dynamically for no more than a few minutes for photos. I can guarantee ya that the poses I put him in here will undoubtedly have creasing all over, but I'm fine with that 😅 Ultimately, posing him will depend on your personal threshold/tolerance for creases. How did you get Dr Strange’s collar like that… out of the box it seems impossible to get it as per the hot toys promotional photos
Haha I didn’t remember featuring Dr Strange in this video and was confused at your inquiry so I had to skim the video to see what you were referring to 😂
To get his collar like that, I folded the entire thing up so it would wrap around his whole head, then bent just the front corner tips down - that way the back of the collar stays up while the front of the collar smoothly comes down. Hope that helps!

Ayy I'm really glad you enjoy that pose enough to recreate it 😊 In order to get the arrow hovering, I just tucked the red translucent piece into his magnetic shoulder strap. It took a bit of futzing around but eventually it held in place. Hope that helps, and thanks for watching & commenting!

Hot toys figures are so amazing but are so expensive that i'm afraid of posing them, i always have that boring museum pose.I think the worst are the seamless body and the figures with leathers you just can't pose those ones because they are fragile.Sometimes i'm jealous of collectors who collect 6 or 7 inch figures like those Mafex of Sh figuarts that can be pose in every way possible.
Yeah I hear ya. It wasn't too long ago that I was in your shoes. I too was afraid to pose them aggressively out of fear of damaging them. Ain't nothing wrong with safe casual museum poses, but personally I just couldn't take it any longer 😅 I would look up at my collection all in safe poses knowing that they had 30+ points of articulation that I simply wasn't utilizing so I just went for it one day and never turned back. You're right about the seamless bodies though -- my Wonder Woman figure is in a fairly safe pose since I've seen photos of that figure torn apart from dynamic poses. Indeed MAFEX / SH Figuarts / Revoltek figures are made for hardcore posers!

I think it was called “nano combat suit” and it was by a company called SuperMCtoys. You can probably find it on eBay but you also need to buy a separate figure body (narrow-shoulder type). Hope that helps, and thanks for watching!

Ahhh gotcha. Sorry to hear about your broken Robin figure -- that can be pretty disheartening. Unfortunately I don't have any experience with that figure since I don't own him, and undressing figures for modifications vary -- sometimes it doesn't require any cutting whatsoever (ROTJ Luke Skywalker / Mando) while other times it may require cutting the stitching of fabric or even melting the glue of straps and hard plastic armor.
I do have a video coming sometime later this week of modifying my Beskar Mando, so hopefully the disassembly / reassembly process might provide at least some insight.
