      Hello ma'am, does the kind of hydrogen bonding have any relevance in solubility, for example, is it like molecules exhibiting intermolecular hydrogen bonding are more soluble with compounds that show intermolecular hydrogen bonding too?

    Hi! Thank you so much for the video! For HCl, is it an ion-dipole as well? If so, does that affect it's solubility with CH2O?

    • @OldSchoolChemistry
      @OldSchoolChemistry  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Nila, excellent question! Yes HCl with CH2O will have ion-dipole interactions and have the strongest IMF possible. The reason is HCl is a strong acid and 100% ionizes into H+ and Cl-. Those ions will be attracted to the respective partial positive (C & H) and partial negative (O) of CH2O. I don't think I mention that in the video. Thank you for catching that! Well done:)
