Looking forward to seeing whose s30 does better. That Slater is a badass little blade with those micarta covers. Thanks for sharing and have a great day E !!
So I have been looking for my box of old case folders to no avail. I’m sure they’re shoved somewhere, but I can’t find them yet. Unfortunately I’m not willing to risk the sodbuster that’s a regular in my rotation as it was one of my father’s knives. I’ll probably just end up buying a new one to have Josh modify if I can’t find that cigar box. But with my luck, as soon as I order a new sodbuster I’ll find the box of old ones.
@@Knife_guy true, but I liked the work you did on Erica’s Soddy that I was pretty excited about having you modify one. Oh well, if anything it gives me extra incentive to start the hunt for more vintage traditionals. Also - would you be willing to modify other slipjoints? In particular, I’d be curious if you could work your magic on an old Boy Scout knife.
Looks like a good selection. Titan for the win. Dang phone dropped you so had to watch at home. Yep, sitting on stuff in back pocket is a great way to need a surgeon.
I recently sold a few Benchmade's. One of them was an Adamas in Cruwear. When I sharpened it the steel was able to be removed way to easily, so I am sure it was on the soft side. I didn't even feel like testing it. I have two Spyderco's in Cruwear and both took quite a bit more time to reprofile. I don't trust Benchmade's heat treat anymore. We have seen a decline in recent years.
Really looking forward to your conclusions on S30V! I've probably said it before, but S30V and M4 are the two steels that Benchmade might do equal (or even superior) to Spyderco - but I don't have experiences with any of them, just looking at the data!
Good lineup for September. I do need a new light. My Olight Warrior mini 2 let me down the other day, I was using it and put it in my shirt pocket. Where it set off the warnings in my Pacemaker/Defibrillator. Rather unexpected! Have you ever tried the Mercator K55K knife? Looks interesting and it has a long history and is affordable. Hope you have a great day at work
Went for a long walk with my wife today We walked all over the Flywheelers Flea Market and I scored a couple hundred dollars worth of new and antique knives with her approval Included was a Case Large Saddlehorn 1860 of 4000 1991 NKCA Collectors Knife and a Pocket Worn Blue Copperlock and a Remington Bullet Knife So I’m happy Love you
@@ericasedc i am great to i am working on a wooden flute and i was wandering if they sell t shirts with the new hampshire slogan live free or die on it 🙂
Hi Erica, you always carry the coolest stuff. Today's EDC reminds me of a movie of two guys bringing a band back togerher. They always claim, that they are on a mission from god.
I don't think Benchmade's S30V is any better or worse than Spyderco S30V. I got them both and haven't noticed any difference. Both take and hold a good edge, and neither has chipped on me. Good video. Stay cool, and have a great day, Erica.
I always hit the LOVE button Nice guns! Like the Spyderco but need better steel and not super steel Love the Soddy but have lots of them and don’t need a custom lol Just got a Warthog Tinker last week BtW I’m breaking my tradition today and carrying two knives Mini Griptillian in backpocket and J Rodgers Stag Bunny Knife in a Case Soft Pouch on my belt I filed the kick on the Rodgers to drop the blade so the tip doesn’t cut me Now get to work Love you to itty bits Mom and I are taking granddaughters 1 and 3 to dinner
Spyderco is high quality, for sure- but it could be unfair to test two completely different geometries and pin the results to the heat treat? I haven't used a sage, but it looks much thicker.
I guess mine on way to me is a Slater then. 😅Mines a bit different as that "orange" is all about our TN Vols football. Looks more like "football colors" for me but I'm good with calling it a Slater. 🤣 Go Big Orange! 🍊😁 Can't wait to watch your review on it.
I have a question for you. I totally respect your willingness to continue your practice at freehand sharpening. I think it’s awesome, and I encourage anyone who enjoys the hobby to at least try it. But I was just wondering, do you have a fixed angle sharpening kit? If so, what is it? If not, do you ever plan on getting one? If so, which one? Thanks!
I love the Spyderco Native LW and for $130 worth every penny. I will not buy a Benchmade unless I had money to throw away because I truly believe they are way overpriced. The Bugout should cost the same as the Native LW but retailers are price gouging them into the $150 and above. Total rip off in my opinion. I like the thumb hole in the blade over the Frankenstein thumb stud on the blade anyway. Nice carry by the way. You need every knife you carry if it makes you happy. :-)
Thanks for sharing. You carry a nice assortment of items. I notice that you seem to be very selective and try not to overlap to much other than a blade. In my opinion very good. Hope you have a great day.
Sage 5 LW getting the Erica Biz! Can't wait to hear your findings. It's by far my favorite folding Spyderco. I don't like slip joints or micarta, but I want a Slater! What are you doing to me? That's how fucking cool you are, you make me like things that I normally wouldn't like.
I’ll be interested to see how the S30V battle goes. I would be lying if I said I’m not nervous about you testing my “Slater” mod. That said I’m always looking to make it better and the only way to do that is proper “3rd party” testing. There is nobody I’d trust more to test it out…..except maybe your mom.😂
Right, Erica, let's get this straight once and for all time. A pocket dump includes the watch. It's clearly included in the pocket dump bible.
Omg I keep forgetting. I suck. It’s a Japanese GShock!
I am a big G-Shock fan.
That Slater knife is really cool !
Thanks!
I love when you put your hand behind the item. ASMR vibes

Been working with Josh and ordered myself a Slater!!! It’s a beautiful version of a Case classic! Can’t wait to get mine!!
Omg YAY!!!!!
Started on it today.
@@Knife_guy this the guy I need to talk to for a Slater?
Ooooh I’m excited for this months testing! I love that it’s called the Slater, that’s so cool!
6:03, I’m very impressed by how well he did on the sodbuster Micarta scales/covers, “Impressive…, Very Nice…”(Patrick Bateman voice)😁
Absolutely!
I think a retro look back into s30v is an awesome idea. New blade steels are coming out so fast now, it’ll be cool to look at how s30v holds up
Yes! I am excited!
A snappy little Slater? Wait, we’re talking about the knife, right?!? Awesome carry, Erica!
