A new poll says that 4 in 5 Americans believe that their democracy is at stake in the next election. Some think that American democracy is already broken. This is at odds with how the US projects itself as a champion of "Freedom and Democracy". How can the world help Americans regain their faith in Democracy?

@@Jai_hind because of the system. In which I have participated on several occasions. It was recently challenged by delusional trump and it went through 65 court cases and won every one of those challenges, regardless of which party administered the election.

(Health, Housing, Education, Employment, Crime & Safety, Drugs, Immigration, Taxation, Societal Cohesion, Foreign Affairs, Welfare, Trade & Industry, etc etc ). A register Established at census time for each Voter - with real-time Web access for timely updates like Gaza, Ukraine etc etc ad nauseam. And don’t worry, AI will make short work of creating a succinct coherent unambiguous statement of requirements from the millions of Vision submissions! Certainly a BETTER WAY for the Nation. (Unless of course you are already part of the 1% thriving/thieving elite , then yes, you will experience a relative decline in your unwarranted privilege, decadence and legalised theft!).

But How come US is a Democracy , when it is a Constitutional Republic ?
Because the citizens have the right to vote. Non democratic systems do not allow/care for citizens' mandate to run a country. Even they might have a Constitution, but the Constitution in non democratic systems does not give the citizens any constitutional mechanism to enforce their will on the government.

Their Constitution literally has all the Amendments oriented towards serving each & every Individual's Goal of Interest , rather than serving the Community as a Whole , which in turns promotes the image of American Individualism over Global Collectivism . A Reason why Many Americans hate Collectivism to the core . & A reason why Voting Rights were not universal in the US till 1965 . First it were only the Right of Upper class men to Vote . Then came men with Lower but still Property Holdings . Then came the Educated Youth Male with No Properties . Then came Workers & Blue Collar servicemen . Then Came Women . Finally It all ended with people of Color & Ethnicities granted Full voting Rights .

@@Quagma-b2i wrong answer. In a democratic country, the party that gets the most votes wins the election (popular vote), but in America it is not so becuase it is a republic. The votes from the electoral college is required to elect the president . not the party with the most votes.

South Africa probably. Nelson Mandela is known has father of the nation, and 1st democratic president.
