Yes it goes to show neither you or them should be invading other peoples countries to completely destroy their infraestructure for political influence and resources
As Ari Folman said "it's a completely non political film what so ever, if it was a political film it would have dealt with the other side as well. meaning we would have interviewed the Palestinian side (and) the Christian side. And it's not. It's a very personal film". That said, the film is obviously not about documentations or verified facts. It's about 1 person telling his own story. Films like that are obviously not the only material for audience looking for historical accuracy.
zweisteinJ its a total political film about how israelis where forced into a war because of national service and where totally unprepared for the borros that awaited them im an anti zionist this film is brilliant to show you everyone in thd middle east is a victim israelis included
Political or not, for me its psychological movie, Waltz with Bashir, has a similar story to a member of my familly, the difference between the two is the location and the time, my grand father was french legionnaire in Indochina (nowdays Vietnam, laos, cambodia) one of his comrades did shoot a truck, it was found it he did kill an entire family, initially he was and like Ari Folmann, he could not remember what he did.
excuse me, but as i understood, this movie is not a documentary about Arik or Eitan, or their dirty deeds, but more about how this former soldier and his companions recollect/reconstruct what happened. yet i think, it suggests that Sharon knew it all, somewhere in the end.
Of course Israeli Goverment's big brasses knew it all, it could also be argued they planned it all. Exactly what can be said of those launching missiles on Israel from southern Lebanon and/or Gaza Stripe.
Me gusta mucho la pelicula y tambien bastante la canción me hubiera gustado que la pelicula hubiera mostrado mas escenas de la guerra y los recuerdos de ari folman
This is definetly not a movie that's there the justify Israel. Is actually shows that Israel could have stopped it the minute they wanted and they didn't. And I'm and Israeli, watching this Israeli movie, can make me so sad. But even though the movie blaims Israel for what happened, I think it sympathizes with the young Israeli soldiers more. Having said all that, the movie doesn't even want to show exact order of events, it's very surreal and shows a point of view of a broken hearted soldier.
i won't be surprised if they had met them, still i doubt it if sharon and eitan invited them to enter Sabra and Shatila, i am pretty sure that they thought that the plo fighters were the ones to blame for basheer death still in no way sharon and eitan came out to the phalangas and told them to butcher everyone around, which they did.
The film showed me the horrors of war, I am a doctor in the German army myself and have 3 missions behind me but the film is so real, it is so that I wake up every few nights because I dreamed of parts of the film and it shows us how barbaric it can become! Everyone should see the film, not because of Israel and the so-called Gaza Strip, but because it's great and maybe discourages people from such from such massacres......
Ok guys, just speaking here, after reviewing the evidence, It is PLAUSIBLE( note- PLAUSIBLE) that this just might NOT be a love song. Its crazy I know, but this is what I think
According to Robert Fisk in his book "The Great War for Civilisation: The Conquest of the Middle East", pp.484,488-489, Israeli defence minister at that time Ariel Sharon and Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan met with the Lebanese Phalangist militia units, inviting them to enter the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps and telling them the PLO fighters were responsible for the assassination of their leader Bashir Gemayel. This is the core information that was neglected/distorted in this movie.
This is an 8 year old comment but I just want to say that if saw any interviews with the director, or if you saw the whole movie, you would see that the blame is put on the phalange and the IDF leaders for the massacre, this documentary is about psychological aspect of being a soldier
Not 'fake', but rather inaccurate. This can not be justified by claiming that the movie reflects a 'subjective' opinion based on a personal experience. The movie partly tried to document these events with real photos from the massacre. And the the whole invasion is being told by the today spirit of a veteran who is asking questions. So why should the answers be those of the young soldier who did not know much about politics?
Possibly the greatest Messianic Jewish Preacher (hitting 95%+) I've ever heard is Steve Berkson of MTOI (Messianic Torah Observant Israel) here on TH-cam..!

Have you ever considered that this is not a documentary about Sharon but about soldiers and journalists who were there?
