Second World War veteran and NHS fundraising hero Captain Sir Tom Moore has been knighted by the Queen in a ceremony at Windsor Castle. The 100-year-old, who raised more than £32 million for the NHS by walking laps of his Bedfordshire garden, was joined by his family for the special investiture. Her Majesty used the sword that belonged to her father, Geroge VI, as she presented Captain Sir Tom with the insignia of Knight Bachelor.

too many undeserving people ( like Jimmy Savile for example ) got to be knighted that really shouldn't have even been considered , but THIS chap has earnt his knighthood several times over
Isn't that the awful truth. I could never understand bestowing knighthood on singers, actors, etc. I thoroughly enjoy the artistic work of many of these folk, but worthy of knighthood? Really?!

@@thmarath9855 if enough of the public write in and nominate someone then whoever vets these things goes ahead and recommends it. That's how savile got his . Beckham won't no matter how often he's nominated because there are those in the vetting dept who loathe him despite what he's done for charities over the years. .

@@pablogonzalez8304 dslrs can go in to quiet mode but you can still hear the shutter since its the motion of the mirror moving to expose the sensor which makes the sound
Mirror less camera can go full silent though (so your point is half correct the mirrorless shooters (if there was any) should of been quite)

Firsteerr Lastmwwew Donations do not go into salaries or bonuses of any member of staff in the NHS. General managers such as a GP practice managers don’t receive bonuses. The NHS don’t use MacBooks day to day as the software they use is only supported on Windows and a much older version of Windows. Go to any GP surgery or hospital and you won’t see a Mac that is for commercial use as oppose to personal use.
Money hasn't gone to the NHS, it's gone directly to medics.

@@jamiew.2718 Moore, who rose to the rank of Captain during his military career, was recently promoted to honorary Colonel in recognition for his efforts. Johnson personally recommended to Queen Elizabeth that Moore should be exceptionally honored, according to a Downing Street press release.

But nowadays they are all under DoD. And hypothetically everyone join the british army had make a oath to serve the king and the country.

I thank Sir Tom's achievement's in raising masses of millions of pounds for the NHS. A righteous cause. But why did none of the other fundraisers get knighthoods? Because they were not sponsored. Why were they not sponsored? Because no one was interested. Looks like being old is all that matters.

His age has a lot to do with it I think. He did something that most of us could do in a day or so ... but his age and infirmity made each step worth 1000 of ours. His strength of will to make each step should shame most of us. He captured the hearts of people at a very very scary time and gave us something good.
