    Red is actually made by a combination of genes :) nonextension can produce a slew of colors but to make a red you have to have agouti (AA, Aa), black or chocolate base (BB, Bb, bb), full color (C), dense (DD,Dd), and nonextion (ee). From this video we know (if the kit stayed black instead of turning into a gold tipped black steel) that your rew is Aa or aaB-ccD-Ee and your red is AaB-CcD-ee. If the kit turned into a gold tipped black steel (really common outcome from red to rew) then your rew is A-B-ccD-Ese and your red is A-B-CcD-ee.

    Both the parents must carry for "self" to throw that one black, though the REW could be a genetic full "aa", since the "cc" would hide that.
    It seems the REW only carries for nonextention though, since otherwise that black would have been a tort
    I love the genetic quizzes rabbits can throw! 🥰

      I do love all the quizzes. It's her first time breeding, so I'm hoping next time around will give us more clues for her genetics. I have so many questions, but I love having color in the rabbitry. Normally we only have Whites and blacks. This is our first red buck added in. It's been so much fun.
      Except now I want all the colors 😬😂

      It's coastal bermuda grass mix. A local farmer hays his fields near us and we get it for $50 a round bale. I think this one was 2nd cutting.

      We almost always feed bermuda hay because that's what is most commonly grown here.

      @@LivingtheHightLife What would be the "pros and cons" of you being in a cage? Are there human caretakers of bunnies who permit the bunnies to roam throughout the home, because these humans value kindness toward other sentient creatures? Does kindness matter to you?

    • @LivingtheHightLife
      @LivingtheHightLife 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Herman47 these rabbits are being raised for meat. I don't believe they are any type of human sentient. They are a food source, but even so they are treated with care and kindness. Pros to them living in cages are that they are less likely to get sick or spread sickness to others. They don't come in contact with wild rabbits limiting their chance of catching anything from them. They are safer from predators and have the least likely chance of getting out of their cage to fall prey to cats, dogs, coyotes,etc.

    • @Herman47
      @Herman47 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@LivingtheHightLife First, "sentient" is an adjective, not a noun. More importantly, it is terrible that you kill them. Are you that desperate for food? Think of how your life would be if you treated animals with kindness & love instead of cruelty. Don't you think your life would be happier?
