The firs first ever internet/garden/ cook blog/flog, that has used parimisan rind in anything...... respect! !!!.......Anyone watching please take note........this is as important as mulching your beds if you want maximum benefit/flavour from your beds and hard work.. 👌👌👌
Jessie love your channel - I am currently on my 3rd run through all your video's - and I am still finding new things I missed each time. Admittedly I often watch them while doing other things like planting seeds or potting on. I am in the Southern Hemisphere so mid Nov where I am in the South Island of NZ is when we are past our last frost date and we are planting up big in the garden. Most of my outside tomatoes are in, the greenhouse one's went in a couple of weeks ago, the peppers are just going in as I planted them a bit late. I grow 97% of my stuff from seeds or cutting - just a couple of things I have no luck at growing from seed e.g. celery. I love how you and your mum work together on your garden. Just a FYI for your seedlings in the greenhouse ... have you thought of a little 'row' (for a better word) of salt around the trays - like a defensive wall. Slugs hate salt ... of course not on the dirt as it will contaminate the dirt but I notice you put your seed punnets on trays .. so just on the outer edge of the tray to stop them crossing over to get your seedlings. I know it would get washed away when you water but as you are not growing directly into the soil in your greenhouse it should be ok. Re your outside plants I am sure this has been suggested before but I use roughly crushed eggshells and it works a treat for me - but I will say where I live is a lot dryer climate than your one. Keep up the amazing work - love watching your Vlog every week and Potty Mouth too.
Love your Mom's hair!!!! Congrats on the cabbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine are always full of slugs, so I don't bother with them anymore LOL So we need a chicken house update!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've had exactly the same problems with my tomatoes, my Sart Roloise was watery and tasteless when in previous years its been an absolute belter. I think my favourite variety this year has been the Boars Tooth, the flavour has definitely been far better than many of the others even when riped off the vine. The Paul Robeson has been a great performer even though every single one I've had to ripen off the vine as well. It truly has been an awful year for tomatoes, I've never had one quite like it. Chillis however have been pretty epic. I'm very impressed with the Sugar Rush Cream Bell from Red Dragon Seeds, it's got a bit of heat but a lovely flavour and we've had loads and loads.
I can remember the last tomato taste you and your mum did, where's the time going, I hope we get a video of you taking the Christmas decorations out of the attic/loft like the early days when you were posting Jessie. great update, the fireworks and beers looked 👌take care Steve Colwell
Noticed your mom's new hairdo right away. She looks lovely. Cabbages, broccoli, everything looks wonderful. Still picking off slugs daily here! So fun to watch the girlies so happy and of course you two as well! ❤❤❤
@@samanthahoos9827 I just harvested broccoli and mustard. And am planting spinach to over winter. Allowing my chickens in the garden to have a feast of greens and grubs. Yum-yum
never had a swede either thats bigger then a golf ball paha , and i even tried that volcanic rock stuff this year , giz a clue lasss lol ,, grats on the savoyyyyyy fab my fav cabbabge !!!
Your vlogs are so relaxing.. so interesting… I love to pour wee drink … pop you on tv… and enjoy! Tbf I’ve earned it today, so much work up the lottie… and swimming… twice! Go me! 😂😂😂😂 anyway I’m sat now and ready to watch this lovely weekly treat ❤
10:04 oooo... is that second beer Guiness? I was in London (Kensington) for a couple of weeks last month. It was so great to get that good stuff everywhere we went for a while!! Those chilis look so great!🎉❤
The tasting was interesting to me. So many different tomatoes! Not just the 3 I always grow: Sheboygan Paste for canning, Rutgers for eating fresh &a red cherry whose name I’ve forgotten. I save their seeds & mix powdered eggshells in their soil for calcium. Free! Are you drying & pulverizing eggshells? I like the soil-y segments, like mulch/rake work
I bought a couple of those large root trainer sets on your recomendation and they are brilliant, I used one set this year and I have binned the old flimsey ones. Also bought 200 7cm pots and the carry trays, which now have onion sets and garlic in, both of which have started to shoot. They will go outside when they get bigger, but in pots not in the ground.
Don’t forget to put the cover on the broad beans in the root trainers so mice 🐁 don’t get them. And how are the girlies adjusting to the new bigger house? Ali ☔️☔️🇨🇦
Hello Jessie, A kingdom for a cabbages! and fireworks too plus a bonfire wow!!! Those are some real nice cabbages. The problem with the really late tomatoes and those picked and allowed to continue ripening can have somewhat less taste and texture. I have so many like that and those will less than best just go into the sauce for cooking. Nice to see Hannah I miss seeing her channel I am assuming she is very busy and maybe cannot devote the time to youtube right now. Cya next week bye, Steven
Hi Jessie and your Mum, her hair looks lovely. Nice cabbage, soup looked delicious 😋 fireworks display was good. Interesting tomato tasting results for your tomatoes and your chilli too. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
Love your moms hair, she looks younger. I guess at the pottery shop you picked up test tiles ? Love the light store, firework, the garden. Great video. My favorite video. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Devastated yesterday my winter planted broad beans which were looking fantastic lots of pods in two days covered in rust, I harvested those ready or near ready but have lost the rest. Last year I will plant in winter two years problem different beds new soil this year last time was black spots all over stems. Good luck with yours. I think we’re having a shocking tomato growing too the weather can’t make up its mind what it wants to do here in Tasmania especially an issue for those of us who don’t have greenhouses/tunnels. My tomato seedlings all developed but then stopped growing so (like the cabbage family did)I’ve put out in their wee pots in the sheltered patio but they are just not growing I might have to either buy or give up. All the best with your autumn planting Jess. Love mums hair really suits her.
I didn't try it raw, but tomato 'Heaven's Joy', sliced and grilled on toast with some strong cheese and pinch of black pepper had an absolutely delicious flavour, One of my faves this year. Will be doing it again next year. Your soup looks super tasty ^_^
Fantastisch Good work Jessie you the best te moostiun te zaailing te Compost thé mulcing thans te video Top Time good week te weekend grootjes ✔️🤗💖☕🌱🥦🍁⛅💐🍅
Are you and JB going to be swapping hats next year then? 😂 You are always my go to for tomato growing and JB is my go to for chilli advice. Your Super hot chilli looked fantastic, watch out JB 😅 Lovely to see Hannah again, her poly tunnel was such a beautiful space.
This time of year it’ll be the last of everything and all about clearing up and preparing for fall and winter. It is more serious prep here in Texas as we do get hard frosts (ground does not freeze) but those not hardy will perish into slime (yuk). I’m off for a week vacation in Central America. See you next week.😊
Jess as you are good with technology, would you consider growing through technology. Grow tents, lights, heating watering etc... many of the companies may sponsor you too?
Had the same issue with tomato flavors. I am also a huge tomato lover and it just made me sad. I sauced and jarred the vast majority for later use. With a heavy heart 💔
Ah, it is a shame you didn't get to test the Sart Roloise against Alice's Dream - although that didn't appear to impress you this year anyway! It really was a bit of a naff year for tomatoes. I might try Black Moon next year though. I loved the look of Black Strawberry and how prolific it was, but it wasn't very tasty.
4:20 I like the compact look of those savoy cabbages. What variety is it? Is it meant to be a particularly compact one? I find a lot of brassicas.get so long and tall it makes a bed harder to manage. I would quite like to grow more compact varieties.
Oh so sorry that is really hard. My condolences I know exactly how this feels. I wish you a lot of strenght and one day to be able to look at these wonderful memories and of holding them precious to you. Greetings Lydia
I grew Chinese Cabbage this spring which is a VERY durable food and was so excited to bring one in to shred & mix with rice for curry, but was horrified to peel leaves off and find earwigs and their disgusting black specks everywhere inside. The leaves had lots of chewed holes I knew something was wrong. VERY wet spring brought this on. Grrr!
With all the vegetation you produce and the chicken manure your chickens make. Why do you find it necessary to purchase bags of stuff instead of producing a large amount of compost??? - Ray Delbury Sussex County NJ USA
Jessie…this isn’t a complaint…but is just so you know. I always try to watch the ads that are sprinkled throughout your vlog…in the perhaps mistaken understanding that this helps you financially….but this evening I have seen 3 ads for a similar heater which is not using a uk 3 pin plug and purports to save money for heating…BUT the so-called inventors have been 3 different pairs of supposed uk engineers…I,m sorry to say I have got fed up with watching what I fear is a scam…and do apologise if this is reducing your utube income. Jessie not watched all of this episode yet but Can you please not shut The seatbelt in the door it damages The webbing and if you wear the belt trapped in the door jam as you did if you have an accident in the car with that much slack in the belt you may very well snap your neck Sorry to be a gloomy guts but so many people do this and a lot get hurt I get to see it often and believe me the results are shocking Best wishes to you and mum nice new hair do by the way.
Just around 1 minute in when your just leaving the alotment shop when you open the door to get in its folded on the door sill where it's been shut into the door gap and when you put the belt on you pull the belt from the reel but not the bottom end.
Chalk cup tip: place a chunk of sponge (one or two layers depending on thickness) cut to fit bottom of cup. Voila! No trouble reaching chalk.

Love your Mom's hair!!!! Congrats on the cabbage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mine are always full of slugs, so I don't bother with them anymore LOL So we need a chicken house update!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Enjoyed the Tom tasting! Quite typical of tomato flavours generally this year I think 🤔🙄
Apparently the brandy wine pink is delicious jess. I'm growing it now (Australia)....I'll let you know what I think of it 👍
Mums hair is looking great really suits her. Allotment is looking great still .
Yay…on your recommendation I treated myself to a set of new root trainers this summer…they are GREAT😀😀😀
Great haircut Mom!
Tried Atomic Fusion also, not a fan. Ripened 6 weeks after everything else and blah. I had a great tomato year in Chicago area.
Love the chalkboard i might do that in my shed, maybe some kitchen roll in the cup to bring the level up might help, love the vids

I wonder if you cleaned the inside of your greenhouse roof it would let more light in and ripen your chillies a bit quicker?

oh yum!! Just the kind of soup I make and love. Isn't it amazing that no gardener can produce enough compost.

Just seen this and gone to check… you’re right! Holy smoke!!! Thank you!
@ should tide you over for another year or two 😂
Tomatoes genrrally this year were uninspiring.. I haven't made any pasta sauce at all.. too lacking in depth of flavour..on to 25!
