Man, this game just progressively gets more and more insane. I think we can all agree that this game alone is worth the price of a new console. Flawless 10/10.
It’s an incredible game but I think it could be better, for one, some missions with arthur in the west, maybe the ending should’ve been there, I don’t know, maybe Micah trying to get the money back in blackwater... not spending half of the game in the swamps and that shitty chapter 6 forest, I also think that arthur should’ve stayed alive, he would be the one that killed micah, and when you got 100% there would be a cutscene of Him laying down and dying quietly, similarly to the knightfall protocol in batman arkham knight, at the end of the game, Arthur Morgan was the character I was invested in, just don’t try to fit john there at the last second, it should’ve been arthur’s spotlight
The only thing that got a bit a annoying was the unneeded extra missions that felt like a filler, but then again R* did it to please the audience that whined about Gta V having less missions.I think that no matter what you do you will always get criticised. The 97 metacritic score for PS4 and 98 for Xbox speaks alone.
@@The_StrangeManI think people are praising this game way too much. It's a great game, but no masterpiece. The story was fine, but extremely slow paced. I just sped through missions because most were uninteresting or of little consequence. The entirety of the Guarma chapter could be removed to no consequence. When Arthur got TB, that's when the game got incredibly oppressive. I just wanted an out, with each cough it became more and more dire and I understand why they did it, but it affects the fun you can have. I felt Sadie is over praised as she's a Mary Sue that is a rip off of the main character from Kill Bill, she consistently puts everyone else in danger and is two dimensional at best. Her only character traits are anger and rashness. Arthur was melancholy and uninterested in anything which makes him the same. He shines in missions where he's having a good time or he genuinely cares. The stranger missions were extremely forgettable, and pointless. The honor system is nothing without the acompaniying fame system from the first game, other than deciding what ending you get it really does nil. Rockstar tried making everyone as human as possible, to show the hardships of living at the time, but it sucks the life out of the game. It makes the game unfun and uninteresting. Obviously it was a rough period, but how fun is something that makes you glad you live in the 21st century? Some people may argue that realism is good, I agree to an extent, but if it sacrifices everything else, what's the point? I'll reiterate that RDR 2 is a great game, but a bastardisation of the first as it almost feels like an entire genre change. For a game that was in development for so long and had been delayed thrice, it felt rushed. The gameplay was rough, the addition of the weight change and having to go to your horse to change weapons is tedious, and having my horse have a magnet on its head for trees and other horses and getting horses and people killed so I lose my honor is awful. I love Rockstar and I love RDR1, but this game even though great compared to most this year felt meh.

This game just proves that The Van Der Linde Gang is better than any GTA protagonist(s) I mean sure Vercetti took down the mafia, CJ took down his corrupt brothers and SAPD, Niko the whole Russian mob and gangsters, and Michael, Trevor, and Franklin, a whole military, a billionaire, and a few other wealthy associates, and the FIB. But Arthur and The Van Der Linde Gang took out a whole Bloodline of Grays and Braithwaites, The Italian Mob, a WHOLE FUCKING GUARMAN ARMY NAVAL SHIP! And of course the Pinkertons. No one can beat that
tbh it's a mix you are saying, at least for me I mean if keep it like that for example; Franklin, Michael, and Trevor took down a whole military, a billionaire, and a few other wealthy associates, and the FIB it's kinda same story with rdr2, Pinkertons(can be counter to FIB), both Grays and Braithwaites(idk, can be a counter of Devin and that FIB guy who makes you do shitjobs), Angelo Bronte( can be counter to Martin Madroza and the Triads and Chengs), Guarman and US army(can be counter to Merryweather, FIB and Triads, again..) it's just rdr2 put the story in an epic way everyone can enjoy and not a short one like GTA series
@@e_4768 GTA V relied way too much on humor to be taken seriously honestly, it was humor with a story wrapped around it. Bush did 9/11 jet fuel can't melt steel beams never ran into bugs plus I don't remember microtransactions being in a "singleplayer game" it only won cause it's more of a popular franchise
@@NECROPOLIS000 I ran into a bug on console. I interacted with a barsman and my character froze and I couldn't move or say anything. Stayed that way until 3 minutes passed and they talked as if though nothing happened.
I love this song’s subtlety and elegance. It uses the same instruments as the rest of the soundtrack, but has such a distinctive feel appropriate for the setting.
Expectations: outlaw in desert Reality: helping a Haitian in an island north of Cuba by igniting a revolution because that Haitian can get you a boat you desperately need since the last once was wrecked in a storm.

As an Italian, I'm so glad for once Rockstar gave some importance to our nation instead of making us the stereotyped joke. Oh and Angelo was dubbed at meraviglia (wonderfully).
Kactus-Frank_35 They did a great job recreating history. Saint Denis in the game is a nearly perfect recreation of what New Orleans would have been like in 1899. Angelo Bronte is based on the real-life gangster Carlos Marcello. He led the Sicilian mafia in New Orleans for several decades in the early 20th century. His gang was called the Black Hand, and they basically ran the city for decades. They controlled most of the industries and killed any police or government officials that got in their way. Many people even think he played a big role in the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963. They extorted money from their fellow Italians in exchange for protection, and controlled all the gambling operations in the South. They were gradually replaced by more unorganized criminal gangs, but they still had a presence in the late 20th century. Most people don’t think of New Orleans as a city with a strong mafia presence. But the mafia was once as powerful here as they were in Chicago and New York City. Arguably even more so, because the New Orleans police are notoriously corrupt and ineffective at dealing with organized crime.
Hello partner,i'm descended from italians,i love so much that clothes in mafia styles, you know, that long coat, the last time that i've finished the game,i was play with arthur and after with john, only mobsters clothes, with a long black coat, and a trilby hat,or fedora hats,i feel like a so great mobster among hillbillys outlaws hahah, anyway that's all, sorry my english language, greets from brazil
Abbastanza, quando sono arrivato al punto del gioco con lui avevo paura l'avessero doppiato male ma in realtà no, anzi è abbastanza realistico, peccato che non abbia un'accento siciliana
The artist, who is playing the accordion so masterfully in this piece here, is called Mario Batkovic. Huge shoutout to him and this fantastic composition.
I must say that this part of the game surprised the hell out of me! To think you end up fighting against the proto-Mafia in a Western! Also yes technically Bronte and his boys aren't really a Mafia in the historical sense. While the Mafia was flourishing in Sicily and Southern Italy, the Italian gangs in the United States were mostly just that, gangs. Before there was a Mafia Family, there was the Black Hand who was the dominant Italian gang in major cities like New York City and New Orleans. Funny enough they aren't even considered a gang per se, more so as a bunch of crooks working together. But it is all complicated, nonetheless I didn t expect this, if anything it would have made more sense if Dutch's gang met up with the Chinese Tongs in a Chinatown of a city since those are considered one of the oldest organized crime gangs in America. Not only that but since St. Denis is based off of New Orleans, technically St. Denis would have been run by the Irish Mob as they were so powerful they would hire Italians to do their dirty work and set them up with ease. But technically O'Driscoll's gang are an Irish/Irish American outlaw gang so having the Irish Mob in St. Denis as well might be a bit much lol. Anyway I loved this and the symbolism behind it, something that everyone else in the comment section has made notice of!
This soundtrack has a sense of uncertainty about it, as if you know the Van der Linds time is coming to an end, same with the age of the outlaws. And attacking the most powerful man in Saint Denis was just the final nail in the coffin for Arthur and Co.
If anyone is thinking "mafia was not found till 1900." apparently the first family in america was founded in 1869 here is the wiki link en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_Mafia
As a Palermitan, I appreciate the fact rockstar didn't exaggerate on stereotypes about Italy=Mafia. Instead, it's very historically accurate, despite being a work of fiction. This theme is wonderful, and Angelo is a very good villain.
As a proud new orleanian I'm am just so astonished and amazed not only of the game but it's incredible soundtrack that truly captures the world your in And as a pretty obsessed new Orleans historian If you search up (organized crime part 2 mafia) in caps lol It will explain a lot about the Sicilian mafia family of new orleans This Angelo Bronte was based of the real life Carlos Marcello Who was arguably the most iconic, at least one of the most iconic crime bosses in America.
Well, since I'm Italian, i can tell you that this representation of the mafia is spot on! The Italian is so good and refreshing to hear in an English game, and the concept of Mafia against Outlaws really struck with me!

No one can beat that
Scott Reacts and The Van Der Linde gang also beat the U.S Military
Only Davey Crockett could complete such feats
With only his dick and a toothpick
And a raccoon hat, of course.
Big smoke acually is uncle
tbh it's a mix you are saying, at least for me
I mean if keep it like that
for example; Franklin, Michael, and Trevor took down a whole military, a billionaire, and a few other wealthy associates, and the FIB
it's kinda same story with rdr2, Pinkertons(can be counter to FIB), both Grays and Braithwaites(idk, can be a counter of Devin and that FIB guy who makes you do shitjobs), Angelo Bronte( can be counter to Martin Madroza and the Triads and Chengs), Guarman and US army(can be counter to Merryweather, FIB and Triads, again..)
it's just rdr2 put the story in an epic way everyone can enjoy and not a short one like GTA series
@@e_4768 GTA V relied way too much on humor to be taken seriously honestly, it was humor with a story wrapped around it. GTA IV had a very depressing and deep story with bits of humor tied in (IE the ads, pedestrians, some of the random phone calls you'd get while doing missions etc) it was a story with humor wrapped around it.

Tayler Sandgren2 it won like 4 very important Awards so it really should’ve won game of the year. I’m really glad it won best soundtrack because my god this soundtrack is amazing
It was a close race and in the end it came down to how polished the game was, and god of war won. That game was absolutely perfect upon release. No bugs, no day 1 patches, no micro transactions. Unfortunately, as much of a masterpiece as it is, red dead had those things.
Bush did 9/11 jet fuel can't melt steel beams never ran into bugs plus I don't remember microtransactions being in a "singleplayer game" it only won cause it's more of a popular franchise

@@michaelstein7510 well this is surely some good stuff to know about.

The artist, who is playing the accordion so masterfully in this piece here, is called Mario Batkovic.
Huge shoutout to him and this fantastic composition.
Every time i listen to rdr2 music it reminds me why it is my favourite game in history and i want to play it again
No one knew that the mix of outlaws and mafias would go SO well
All rise for the Italian National Anthem.

This soundtrack has a sense of uncertainty about it, as if you know the Van der Linds time is coming to an end, same with the age of the outlaws. And attacking the most powerful man in Saint Denis was just the final nail in the coffin for Arthur and Co.
